why my byond cannot increase or decrease the volume?
*
digital audio via HDMI: can not adjust volume directly
analog audio via stereo RCA: can control colume directly

if HDMI is connected to TV, byond remote control can be reprogrammed to adjust TV's audio volume directly, read byond's user manual

Talking about manual, do you have a link to download a PDF copy of B.yond PVR's user manual? blush.gif

No la..for personal collection..right now I have been buying football DVDs from the UK..if got DVD recorder can use with Astro, I can make my own..but good idea..u never see football DVDs except for the season reviews and greatest matches in DVD shops like Speedy..who wants cetak rompak DVD football matches? I Can make money maa.. tongue.gif

BTW, about TV i on ch180, is it here to stay or just for time being for Sarawak election..setting up this channel surely shows u that current government really abuse their power and Astro is their chrony..

Think about it, suddenly Sarawak will hold election and kabooom suddenly out of nowhere, RTM announce that they will launch TV i replacing Muzik Aktif and this TV i is dedicated to Sarawak and Borneo..how obvious is that? Never has this been done and in the 2011, we see this kind of vote mongering act..

Government use Astro and RTM to give some gula2 to Sarawak people..give them something special..and promote how kind the government is..but obviously they want the people's votes..discrimination of power and also media..monopoly and no media democracy..I bet they use the government tax paid by Astro subscribers to run that channel.. tongue.gif

Not sure if this question has been asked before, anyway here goes.
I just got my astromax with byond last month and the remote control is driving me nuts.
1. I'm unable to switch channels directly by pressing the remote e.g. if i wanted channel 815, it freezes after i key in 8 and says no channel found.
2. When I press the stop button when viewing a recorded channel, it bumps me straight to the current live channel rather than staying on the programs which I recorded.

Hope someone can shed some light on this, thanks.

I don't think anyone has answered your questions so:

1. Try keying in the numbers slower, and pressing down on the buttons a bit harder too. That works for me.

2.Try pressing back. I haven't tried it but it might take you back to the list of recorded stuff.

---

My own question: Is there a quick way to get to my recorded shows? As far as I know, you have to select home, planner, slide across to recorded stuff, then scroll down to a recording. Surely there's a shortcut to get to the list of recorded stuff (like typing in 999 on Astro Max).

Can the DVD recorder bypass HDCP? Astro's HDMI signal is HDCP protected...

I've been using a One Electronics DVR6626 with Nokia Astro box for donkey years and works beautiful. Anyone know if the recorder will still work with B.yond box? Never tested the decoder with my B.yond (decoder is at my aunt's place) and when I tried it with UniFi, it gave copy protection error even on analog signal because of Macrovision. Even for RTM1. And now that B.yond box is being made mandatory, I'm afraid that Astro's B.yond analog also has Macrovision. I need to record onto DVD because I live in a different house and I prefer watching TV on my computer screen.

quality is nothing to shout about.. its only SD.. actually looks bad on big lcds or plasmas.. but would look good on 32" n below tvs..
initially cost around rm600.. bought it 2nd hand from another lowyat member for rm450..

yup after some reading.. no recorder has hdmi in as hdmi content is copy protected.. you could still record HD channels but its quality is downgraded to SD..

wow! astro is going to launch their iptv, riding on the fibre optic backbone

more info on astro's use of time fibre optic broadband to deliver iptv tv channels
QUOTE
KUALA LUMPUR, 21 December 2010 – Astro and TIME dotCom Berhad (TIME) have entered into a partnership to jointly bring the best of TV and broadband services for the benefit of customers.

CEO of Astro, Dato' Rohana Rozhan and CEO of TIME, Afzal Abdul Rahim today announced the partnership between two of Malaysia's most recognizable brands in leveraging on each others' strengths to bring true digital connectivity and an enhanced entertainment experience for customers.

Rohana said, "Since the launch of Astro B.yond in December 2009, we have received huge demand for our High Definition (HD) and Personal Video Recording (PVR) services. Our Astro B.yond services are immediately available to all customers residing in single dwelling units (SDU's) and progressively for those in multiple dwelling units (MDU's). Over the last 6 months we have been conducting IP delivery trials, with very positive outcomes. TIME is a partner of choice given their immediate capability to provide 100Mbps to these MDUs, which enables us to deliver an unrivalled value proposition encompassing the very best of Astro B.yond and high speed broadband services, to our increasingly discerning customers. Under this agreement, these services will be made available to 167,000 homes in 730 MDU's in the Klang Valley and Penang progressively within the next 12 months."

All this is made possible as the Astro B.yond box is in essence a 'tri-brid' set top box, which operates in a Direct to Home (DTH) satellite mode, pure IPTV mode as well as DTH and IPTV hybrid mode. Astro's 'tri-brid' set top box also enables different Video-On-Demand (VOD) capabilities such as push, pull, or progressive downloads of content, based on the mode selected and relative speed of the underlying network. Customers are then able to view videos in real-time upon request, or alternatively, download video content to a device such as a PVR for later viewing.

Astro customers who sign up for the Astro IPTV service under this agreement with TIME will therefore have 100Mbps bandwidth at their disposal, to enjoy all Astro B.yond services such as HD, PVR, VOD in multi-rooms, and still have spare bandwidth to support connected devices such as laptops, mobile phones and game consoles on WIFI.

According to TIME CEO, Afzal Abdul Rahim, this collaboration marks a significant moment in bringing multimedia and Internet rich services to Malaysian homes. "TIME's 100% fibre-based network is the most resilient and stable network in the country that is able to support Astro's IPTV offering. TIME's fibre connections run directly into homes, ensuring consistent speeds that are required for IPTV delivery as well as uncompromised Internet quality. This also allows Astro customers to experience the fastest broadband in Malaysia. Our roll-out to homes in the past year has been aggressive and we will continue to keep up the pace in supporting Astro's IPTV plans. "

This partnership between Astro and TIME enables Astro to provide its customers the best value possible – with the unbeatable combination of TV, HD, PVR, VOD, Music and high speed broadband. With this proposition, customers in Malaysia can truly expect a transformation of their TV viewing and the home internet usage experience, enjoying the best of a converging world.

Astro is committed to bring this unparalleled value proposition for the benefit of a wider base of its customers in the very near future.
