Also, i can't help but to notice Discovery Channel have "compression" issue. Every time i tune in especially on Mythbusters time, random pixelation will appear. What's the deal?  doh.gif

Normal issue what. I've been seeing this problem with foreign channel for ages. I think it's because unlike local channels, foreign channel datastream already arrive at Ass-throw compressed. For various reasons (most likely to add hard subtitles), instead of just forwarding the bitstream, they recompress the signal doh.gif

All these could be averted if they have just forwarded the bitstream and adding subtitle data stream instead of what they're doin now shakehead.gif

Another rebranding channel cool.gif I wonder if our Discovery Science got it too? hmm.gif

Rumor also says that Disney is also going to rebrand Playhouse Disney to Disney Jr. Already happen in US and Europe and will happen in Asia sometime next month if Wikipedia is to be believed. It'll be interesting to see what Astro will do...

I think ours is 100% branded as Disney malaysia with BM content ! One of the best channel for kids and teens once upon a time  is in such a bad state now, with local content overdose! hmm.gif
*
Eh, they already have an unhealthy dose of BM content on Disney as-is (whose bright idea was it to put Upin and Ipin on that channel? I feel hype aversion and hate them already because they're everywhere and even have their own channel on Hypp.TV vmad.gif mad.gif ).

Added on April 8, 2011, 6:13 pmI used card sharing once upon  a time, now I know Astro cannot be shared, smart wi sent me this link perhaps our smart brothers can check for us if we can use any of them, here is the link.

Not going to work. The device just "clones" one card into 5. Since Ass throw cards are now paired with the decoders, theoretically unless the other decoders are somehow reprogrammed to use the same card, only the decoder that the cloned card is from will work. The others will just give card not matching error.

I agree. Last time I check no longer possible. Even taking card at my aunt's house from decoder downstairs to my uncle's bedroom also not possible.

And that device doesn't really clone to say. It apparently reads the data from the one card using the "server" device and then wirelessly transmit copies onto the "client" cards which is put into the decoder. Hence "cloning", But once the "server" loses power, all stop working.

aaaaa..finally some one can share experience using DVD recorder for Astro..so how good is it bro? I dont mind if its SD quality but is it good to record..I was thinking of recording football matches..or make a goals dvd collection..how much did it cost ur dad?

owh..yes u can use old Astro satellite dish for astro Byond..bring ur decoder, card, remote and power adapter..hook it up and waallaa..u can watch football!

Can the DVD recorder bypass HDCP? Astro's HDMI signal is HDCP protected...

I've been using a One Electronics DVR6626 with Nokia Astro box for donkey years and works beautiful. Anyone know if the recorder will still work with B.yond box? Never tested the decoder with my B.yond (decoder is at my aunt's place) and when I tried it with UniFi, it gave copy protection error even on analog signal because of Macrovision. Even for RTM1. And now that B.yond box is being made mandatory, I'm afraid that Astro's B.yond analog also has Macrovision. I need to record onto DVD because I live in a different house and I prefer watching TV on my computer screen.

wonder how do they connect fibre optic cable to the byond box? there is only an ethernet port, no fibre optic port, may be using some sort of fibre to rj-45 converter box
*
Probably they follow how TM does it- just connect B.yond box to the router (TM's router is a DIR-615, which has a port priority function that assigns Port 4 which the IPTV must be connected to as higher priority. I assume Time will offer a similar router to customers who want Astro IPTV) which connects to the fiber box and convert Ethernet to FIOS. Of course, this has the same implication as UniFi- it can work anywhere given there is sufficient bandwidth (on the other hand, there is no other 100Mbps service provider in Malaysia), but Astro purposely lock the service down only to Time, just like how UniFI IPTV is locked to only UniFi.
