Aiyo, last time when launch HD you all said "Astro super late, everybody have 3D, Astro only now want to start HD"

As for me, I'm happy that they start early as as can all start commenting on it and if they listen, maybe by the time we all have our own 3D TV, they fixed what needs fixing.
I believe Astro and Cinema have different standards when it comes Censorship. I remember this one article in newspaper people are complaining about Astro's Censorship. The YBs are saying since Astro is the only Pay TV Operator, they have the Civic Duty to not show things that are inappropriate for Youngsters and etc unlike the Cinema. So they wanted Astro to and a more Stringent Censorship guidelines that the cinema. The article was published back in mid of Last year.
i agree with you.. astro's censorship is really more lax then usual.. it was a few weeks ago that i watched a natgeo documentary on natives in the amazon jungle and there were some boobs showing in plain sight from the native women folk.. wished they were perkier.. tongue.gif

Yes, if one unsubscribe to HD, then we also have to return to shop our HDTV because without HD, it's useless.

HD program comes from several sources including Astro Byond & Bluray etc. If there are no HD program, there is no point buying big screen HDTV. That is a fact.

Of course one could argue that big screen HDTV are there as show off to visitor to your house. Never mind it is useless without HD programs  blush.gif

still got 1 more thing usefull lerr for big hd screens..
gaming! ps3.. xbox360.. etc.. thumbup.gif

i'm guessing the latest one should be able to record via hdmi input..
try looking it up at samsung's website.. i'm too lazy rite now.. tongue.gif

aaaaa..finally some one can share experience using DVD recorder for Astro..so how good is it bro? I dont mind if its SD quality but is it good to record..I was thinking of recording football matches..or make a goals dvd collection..how much did it cost ur dad?
owh..yes u can use old Astro satellite dish for astro Byond..bring ur decoder, card, remote and power adapter..hook it up and waallaa..u can watch football!
quality is nothing to shout about.. its only SD.. actually looks bad on big lcds or plasmas.. but would look good on 32" n below tvs..
initially cost around rm600.. bought it 2nd hand from another lowyat member for rm450..

Can the DVD recorder bypass HDCP? Astro's HDMI signal is HDCP protected...

I've been using a One Electronics DVR6626 with Nokia Astro box for donkey years and works beautiful. Anyone know if the recorder will still work with B.yond box? Never tested the decoder with my B.yond (decoder is at my aunt's place) and when I tried it with UniFi, it gave copy protection error even on analog signal because of Macrovision. Even for RTM1. And now that B.yond box is being made mandatory, I'm afraid that Astro's B.yond analog also has Macrovision. I need to record onto DVD because I live in a different house and I prefer watching TV on my computer screen.

yup after some reading.. no recorder has hdmi in as hdmi content is copy protected.. you could still record HD channels but its quality is downgraded to SD..
