Thats the last 2 reserved channels used on a rotation basis ,one for  sports and the other for In House ,looks like  there is no more space for any permanent HD channels! cry.gif

Added on April 8, 2011, 5:37 pmAstro basic subscription fees to remain competitive
Posted on April 7, 2011, Thursday

Satellite broadcaster, Astro, will work towards ensuring that subscription fees for basic packages for its future channels will not be increased.

Information, Communication and Arts Minister Datuk Seri Dr Rais Yatim said Astro’s current minimum subscription fee for the basic package was competitive compared to other countries in the region, at RM37.95 for 33 multi-lingual and multi-genre channels.

“The basic package was originally priced at RM49.95 in 2004 but with fewer channels than what’s available now,” he said in a written reply made available to the media at the Dewan Rakyat here yesterday.

He was responding to a query from Wee Choo Keong (Independent-Wangsa Maju) on the ministry’s move to control what was described as Astro’s “high” monthly charges considering that it had made a net profit of RM689 million last year on the back of 2.911 million subscriptions.

On claims of content monopoly of popular channels on the part of Astro, he said the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) had done a survey on this matter in addition to holding talks with foreign content rights holders such as HBO, Disney and Discovery.

“The MCMC has found that content and broadcast rights procurement was very competitive. As to premium content from abroad, they are sourced in accordance with the terms and conditions stipulated by content rights holders as well as prices offered by broadcast stations,” he said. — Bernama
Didnt we all agree that they hv full govt.support  including the minister and SKMM!! 37.95 for 33 channels he says hope he is aware that  more then a dozen are FTA channels including 7 malaysian channels OMG !49.95 was before repacking after repacking free to view channels it came 37.95,that also  that old guy does not know! doh.gif He is defending the rate!!

Not sure if this question has been asked before, anyway here goes.
I just got my astromax with byond last month and the remote control is driving me nuts.
1. I'm unable to switch channels directly by pressing the remote e.g. if i wanted channel 815, it freezes after i key in 8 and says no channel found.
2. When I press the stop button when viewing a recorded channel, it bumps me straight to the current live channel rather than staying on the programs which I recorded.

Hope someone can shed some light on this, thanks.

I think ours is 100% branded as Disney malaysia with BM content ! One of the best channel for kids and teens once upon a time  is in such a bad state now, with local content overdose! hmm.gif

Eh, they already have an unhealthy dose of BM content on Disney as-is (whose bright idea was it to put Upin and Ipin on that channel? I feel hype aversion and hate them already because they're everywhere and even have their own channel on Hypp.TV vmad.gif mad.gif ).

Not going to work. The device just "clones" one card into 5. Since Ass throw cards are now paired with the decoders, theoretically unless the other decoders are somehow reprogrammed to use the same card, only the decoder that the cloned card is from will work. The others will just give card not matching error.

Hi all,

I just spent some time browsing throughout Astro website to look for B.yond + External HDD recording solution.
I cannot find this information anymore (it was there last time), such as which is recommended external HDD model, monthly charges,
what they are currently talking about is the PVR solution.
Does Astro still offer this external HDD recording service? Can anyone share the link for more information?

Many thanks in advance... biggrin.gif

EDIT: Ok, sorry, I found it finally... blush.gif

I am seeing the different between PVR & HDD solutions here are monthly fee of RM10 vs. RM5.
I can forget about the one time installation cost of RM300 for existing B.yond customers compare to the cost of the HDD.
This will not save me a lot of money, what I want is trouble-free... laugh.gif

So, my questions are:

1) Can existing external HDD user share their experience, such as reliability and convenient compare to PVR?

2) Can existing PVR user share your experience if you are happy with this recording solution?

3) Since PVR box has dual tuner (and two LNB?), does that means they need to install another cable at my house?

notworthy.gif I sincerely thank you in advance for anyone who could guide me on this! notworthy.gif

I agree. Last time I check no longer possible. Even taking card at my aunt's house from decoder downstairs to my uncle's bedroom also not possible.

And that device doesn't really clone to say. It apparently reads the data from the one card using the "server" device and then wirelessly transmit copies onto the "client" cards which is put into the decoder. Hence "cloning", But once the "server" loses power, all stop working.
