I have a question, I got 2 account on different address, 1 with B.yond and 1 with normal Astro, my question is, since they are receiving from the same satelite, why normal old Astro dish can't be used on B.yond decoder?

Anyone know is there a way to purchase the new dish so that I can move my b.yond decoder to my other address and watch it?

try yourself and see lah, bring your byond box and hook it up

as long as your LNB is of universal type(ie got 2 LO 9.75GHz and 10.6GHz), it can be use with byond

if your LNB is not compatible, someone in lyn is selling new astro dish including LNB for RM35

biggrin.gif This is why AV Asia sue Astro. Confusing customer to change the dish - although it is for customer benefit.

Japan SKY PerfecTV! have 3 system:

SKY PerfecTV! > Astro normal decoder

SKY PerfecTV! e2 > like B.yond but use ISDB-S and MPEG2 for SD & HD

SKY PerfecTV! HD > Astro ??? (their HD only system with 15 channel using H.264/MPEG4 and AAC audio)

Any idea what Astro system will be like SKY PerfecTV! HD Japan? icon_idea.gif

Maybe Astro should make a campaign to change all old decoder (MPEG2) to B.yond. Like Digital TV switchover... with countdown... icon_idea.gif

If i'm not mistaken, installer of my Astro said, old dish (that one with PHILIPS ASTRO word written on it) have pre-installed with non-universal LNB....
That's why it can't be used on Byond....

Yup...! Maybe the campaign already started and I am one of the customers who benefits from it. Astro sent me a postcard asking me to call their number "urgently", and when I called, they said they want to change a new decoder for me free of charge and also no charge to my bill because the old decoder cannot support their new software (my mother also using old Nokia decoder like me mar...) I said ok since it is free... hehehe...!

When the installer come, I only realized they give me B.yond... but did not activate HD service because they never got my permission yet, this I can understand... but hey, who can stand with using B.yond box and still watching SD programmer? Hahaha....! Then I call them and request to activate the HD service... lol...!!

Sometimes thought whether this is their trick to lure customers to get into HD...? lol.....!
