Of course, it's RM20k+ sweat.gif But after selling your 1D4 and lenses, it should be enough to fund a Leica system? laugh.gif

QUOTE(wenloong78 @ Nov 4 2010, 09:50 PM)
hello

wish to get some info from the masters here,

when comparing 7d and 5dm2,  most of the users will say 5dm2 has weaker AF as the 7d has newer AF technology.

but may i know, if AF of 5dm2 compare with 50d? is the AF (speed and in low light condition) of 5dm2 better than 50d? or just the same.

thanks
*
I was using a 40D before I upgraded to the 5D2. I prefer the 40D's AF. smile.gif

Since i just got a 50mm f1.8.

Just a test shot for it, and probably my nicest shot so far.

QUOTE(saru88 @ Nov 5 2010, 02:41 AM)
yeap... i agree...
yeap, i'm using a Rode VideoMic... quality is great...
i even used an Audio Technica boom mic with Sennheiser mic wireless system on it during the shooting last week.
The sound was uber good...

just one thing turns me down... unlike my Panasonic HS300... it has no headphone jack... so it's kinda hard for me to monitor the sound...
just depends on the meter.

i hooked it up to a small 6.5" external LCD monitor, even plugged in the audio cable, and i still couldn't hear the sound thru the monitor after i plugged the headphone into it...
but while playback, there was sound comin out from the monitor's speaker... really weird... i just wonder why DSLR just doesnt let ppl to monitor the sound... XD
*
Wah wireless lavs, nice. I no budget for those kind of set up yet, although I want it laugh.gif

Yeah that's one problem I get with recording videos on the 5D2, there's no headphones output to monitor the audio. If I want I'll have to buy an external preamp or use those Zoom recorders.

Btw bro, I assume you're not using AGC right? Where do you usually set the audio levels? Another bad thing about not having an external preamp is that I can't change the audio levels on the fly while recording. sad.gif

Mine custom made version. laugh.gif

Nolah. It's the new finish. All new Sigma lenses will be in this smooth finish from now on. For the Sigmalux, it's the serial number starting from 11XXXXXX biggrin.gif

This is some good news to me. I don't like the fury fury touch. But how's the built of it compare to their previous finishing?
*
Sigma supposedly changed to the smooth finish because the old crinkle style finish gets worn off after heavy usage. The crinkle finish would peel off, and many users complained. laugh.gif

Not yet. Still thinking if I should go for 30 or 50  tongue.gif Going to HK next 2 weeks and trying to find some bargain. Heard the sigmalux is going for 1.2k  brows.gif Pretty poisonous. Afraid that later I can't control and ended up bringing both back home.  sad.gif

You're on the 7D right? Honestly I find 50mm on crop too long for my tastes loh. That's why last time when I was using the 40D I rarely use the 50 1.8 laugh.gif

But on FF, 50mm is my fav focal length tongue.gif

pengster, where did you buy yours and how much for? biggrin.gif

I got it for RM1.6k, grey set with 1 year warranty. Bought from mitmivec.

Eh, I know la you got the 50L, I can only afford this Sigmalux laugh.gif

Wah the new Sigma paint damn nice. My Sigmalux is supposedly 2nd version paint oredi which was said to prevent the peeling probs but it's still the rubbery paint. This new smooth paint is much better now.
*
Yup it's nice and smooth now, including the hood. But then I think the smooth paintjob on the hood will cause the hood to be easily scuffed, just like the Canon hoods. sweat.gif

QUOTE(saru88 @ Nov 6 2010, 01:32 AM)
yeap... it's a wireless system that comes with the lavs... but we used an AT boom mic instead...
those equipments not mine 1... we rented it from somewhere... cant afford it yet... haih...

i rather get an external preamp than a Zoom recorder... at least it has 2 or 3 mic inputs... since the price is almost the same...

of coz not using AGC... i think all video ppl should know this, rite? haha... i normally test sound 1st... ask actors to speak like normal, then talk louder... then scold ppl... wanna get the perfect level... normally i will set it before yellow bar...
*
Oh okay. I'm currently using a cheapo hotshoe shotgun mic, will have to do for now since I don't really plan on going deep into videography. But I'm already finding the hotshoe mount mic quite limited already, but what to do, not gonna spend a few Ks just for audio equipment. Well at least not until I'm 100% going into videography la laugh.gif

Seems like a lot of people recommend the Juicedlink preamps. At least with the preamp the annoying background hiss can be eliminated and can adjust the gain manually while recording.

Yeah I'm using manual audio gain too, but I find it quite difficult not being able to adjust the levels when I'm recording. Most of the time when I record, the voices won't be at a constant volume, but up and down up and down laugh.gif

Oh that's nice! 1.6k is a pretty good price. I think I'll drop by his shop soon and check it out.

Yeah I have the 50L but the Sigma's also something I've looked into for a long time. Always thought it was very sharp and good. The only concern I really had was a bad copy and the crinkle paint. I just happened to chance upon a 50L at a reasonable price sooner than I got a Sigma. brows.gif

Now that they've fixed the paint I might just get one too. laugh.gif
*
Haha yeah for a grey set it's not bad. Cheapest local set I could find was from DY Divine, and it was RM2080 if I'm not mistaken.

So far the Sigmalux seems to be performing pretty well, needs a little bit of MA though. It's on +3 currently. Needs more testing though biggrin.gif

+3 is good. My 50L is on -20. laugh.gif I thought it didn't need any microadjustment (from normal shooting), but then I did a proper test and I saw how terribly frontfocused it was. laugh.gif
*
Whoa -20? I think you better send it to Canon for calibration laugh.gif

My +3 adjustment is based on taking pics of objects near and far. Haven't tested it on a focus chart yet laugh.gif

dont worry, bro... even a cheapo shotgun mic will help alot... i'm more to videography, so photography stuff i dun really know.
I think i will spend money on audio equipment, cuz i really need a good one.

Juicedlink? never heard of it... perhaps i should google it later... smile.gif

yeap, sometimes it's very hard to get the level that u want... furthermore u can't monitor the sound while recording... haha... but wut to do? hv to deal wif it also... XD
*
Yeah, anything beats the crappy built in mic laugh.gif I guess we're different then, you're focusing on videography and I'm focusing on photography laugh.gif

I've read that quite a lot of people use juicedlink as a preamp for their 5D2/7D/etc on other forums la, not sure how good is it though.

That's the thing I don't like when I'm recording videos. Only thing I can do is to either get an external preamp or use those Zoom recorders and the sync it in post.

i will check out the preamp then... really interested... for me, a video with bad sound quality i really kenot tahan...
*
Haha yeah, I also cannot tahan bad sound quality, that's why I got an external mic, just to improve the SQ a little bit. Still got long way to go to make it perfect though laugh.gif

QUOTE(ianthow @ Nov 7 2010, 11:28 AM)
How about 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM?
*
It's a very good lens, some even say the image quality is comparable with the 17-55 F2.8 IS USM. Covers a very useful range of 24-135mm. Only downside that it's quite expensive.

I doubt the hotshoe will patah unless it's been knocked or ripped off forcefully. My 430EX which is using the plastic hotshoe is still fine after all this years of service. And I put it through its paces doing event photography too laugh.gif

Anyway, I personally think that the purchase of 580EX II is much significant compared to when I bought the Tammy. tongue.gif The flash totally blown my mind. tongue.gif
Having said that, Tammy wasn't a regretful purchase as I needed the range too. laugh.gif
