anyone is using a blackrapid strap here? I have been eyeing for a replacement strap for my current canon strap and the blackrapid and optech strap look very promising.
blackrapid's attaches the strap to the tripod connector, and another similar strap by optech attaches the strap to the normal strap hook.
this site claims that attaching the strap to the tripod connector is not good for the camera long term. What do you guys think? is the claim true? any experience from sifus here?
Optech's version attaches to only a single strap connector, im afraid that the connector might loosen due to the camera's weight.
kytz...btw wad cam r u using now? ur flickr damn chun la hehe...kinda got artistic feel once i c ur photos

Guys, i wanna ask what kinda white balance mode you use while shooting under Fluorescent lights? i prefer using Cloudy mode... Fluorescent mode is just so blueish... Cloudy mode looks warmer...
what say you?
i'm still new to photography... need some tips and advice... tq manyak2...
personally I use custom WB with an 18 percent grey card. a more accurate way of getting the righ WB. you can buy them at shops, or print them yourself.
Haha. My next body upgrade? I don't think it will happen that soon la. My 550D still standing well, my sis will kill me if I'm changing a new body soon.
Probably by 2012?
hahaahha, 2012 will be end of world already, so for that, you'll need a magnesium alloy body

Perhaps you might be able to squeeze in some budget for a 1000HS which has a f/2.0 lens yo! Not too sure about the exact pricing but if i remember correctly, it should be around 1k la
Anyway, guys more food shots coming very soon!
p/s: Sorry about the compositions, relatives were at the table so weren't very confortable with taking so long to shoot as they were very hungry!
Using Av: shuttter speed is 1/1000. Photo outcome: back ground is OK, but person's face dark.
I turn ON flash: the shutter speed is automatically switch to 1/250 (flash sync speed). OUtcome: person's face is OK, but background over expose.
Under such situation, what is best to solve this??
If you insist on using flash, go to M, Manual mode, set you shutter to 1/250, and then drop your aperture size. Just look at the aperture size of the photo that has a bit overexposed background and use a smaller aperture than that.
Tell me if it works. About how small should the aperture be depends on the surrounding, based on how much lights are available. Goodluck!

haha, chill first, wait till all the shops stock up the mark II, then let the price stabilize. hahah, i'll get the mark I though, not much difference, well i dont need the extras in Mark II and by that time, the mark I would be very cheap ady

unfortunately, dropping aperture means you lose background separation (i.e. bokeh) ... hehehe.
example let's say you wide open f/2.8 at 1/2000s and model is dark (but background is great) like you said, you pop flash, and your shutter goes to 1/250s (max flash sync). you need to then close down your shutter by 3 stops (i.e. f/8) - bigger aperture means no more super bokeh'ed backgrounds, hehe.
hahaha another way is to use a simple reflector, you can buy a real reflector, or even some cardboard, or make use of the shooting place and look for any surface that might work as reflector.
or if you rajin, can alway PP to make fake bokeh, hahaha
but the price for black rapid is expensive here, and not so many ppl are selling them. Futuromic just brought them in, shashinki too. guess i'll wait for a while, or buy it when i go overseas
