err viruz..just a quick question, does GenTech Pc accept paypal for order from Msia?
*
Actually, if ur planning on getting the gt780, i wud advice u to get it locally..the price is cheaper compare to oversea market. Not to forget, GentechPC is still selling the 2630QM processor where as malaysia is getting the 2670 updated version!

QUOTE(Sanko @ Oct 19 2011, 12:57 AM)

MSI barebone notebook should be using the same adapter.

Seems like MSI is starting to be really successful here tongue.gif. BTW Sanko and MSI-MY, i would like to say thank you all for showering us with latest MSI laptop/products and selling them at a really reasonable price.

In-fact the price can fight with what the US MSI market is providing as well. I would say that is a good job. Hope to see more MSI event in future promoting MSI to the public tongue.gif.

The GT780 prices are really tempting....dam you poison T_T

lol i cant boot the file..... said not compatible with 64bit windows

Added on October 29, 2011, 9:50 pmAnd yet i use my pendrive to flash... But im stuck halfway dunno how to flash
*
did u download the correct file? cause if im not wrong it's divided to 32 n 64..jz wondering, double check again regarding that

Another thing is, if ur pendrive has stuff in it, remove everything and just leave the driver inside. Else, try with another pendrive:P

QUOTE(c_s_mak @ Oct 29 2011, 11:50 PM)
Hi all, I'm still in a very stage of research about next laptop I would like to have, I have a few questions hope u guys could help out...
this 2 models GT780DX(RM5299) and GT683DX(RM5099)
from the global website they came with dual hard disk and some with ssd acceleration setup cache thingy.
1.The one we have in malaysia is only single harddisk?
2.For example like GT780DX only came with single 750Gb, so there will be an empty slot where we can upgrade ourselves in the future for maybe raid 0 setup?
3.How about setting it for ssd acceleration, does the bios provide the interface for it?
4.Any news of them goin for ivy bridge next year?
5.I assume this monsters won't have issues with performance throttling/overheat?
6.Anyone tried overclock it b4?
7.Where can I get it locally? Any online shop like dell.com? Or any specialized shop that focus on msi products.

Thanks and sorry if it is repeated questions, I tried to scan thru as much as i can, it's 60 over pages here...
*
I will get all updated specs from sanko by later and try and update the first page to help new-comers smile.gif. Will also try to gather faqs and post it at front page as well.

for your question:
1) If i'm not wrong, yes single 750gb hard disk
2) Yes, there will an empty space for you to put in a new hard disk. But just in-case, better ask MSI-MY or sanko if you self-upgrade extra hard disk will void warranty or not.
3) For the bios interface, as mention above, you need to update/flash your bios in-order to get that. (QUESTION: I plan to upgrade SSD as well, but how to copy the stuff like recovery that is provided inside MSI original hard disk to the SSD? O.o and how to use the BurnRecovery tool hmm..)
4) As of now, i don't think anyone know as ivy bridge not even officially out yet right? But i have a feeling they are gonna come up with something great for the ivy-bridge future laptop (If I'm you, stop the waiting game, it will make life harder for u tongue.gif)
5) I can personally guarantee you there wont be performance throttling or overheat. And i would highly advise you to get third-party thermal paste for your cpu and gpu. As i recommend every1 here, get IC Diamond 7 or AC MX4
6) It's a notebook, don't go overboard with that right tongue.gif
7) Ok, for that MSI will bring it in by middle of nov. You can book one by pm-ing sanko tongue.gif

Hope my replies help

QUOTE(lonelywolf90 @ Oct 30 2011, 09:15 AM)
Reizz, I was wondering if you could actually try flashing the BIOS via Windows 7, not DOS.. It should be safer isn't it?
Despite saying it's only for CR640, CX640, CX480, etc, maybe you wanna try this method?

http://www.msi.com/html/pdf/Flash_BIOS_SOP.pdf

As far as I know, BIOS is not specific whether it's 32 or 64 bit isn't it?
After all, BIOS is outside of Windows, it shouldn't be related with what version of Windows you are using.

What is ssd acceleration anyway? Is it Intel Smart Response Technology?
*
Bios is not, but then when you're trying to run it inside windows itself or through dos or any other method, it will.

QUOTE(c_s_mak @ Oct 30 2011, 12:01 PM)
yes, correct term should be ssd caching or Intel Smart Response Technology. Not ssd accelerationg. Sorry for that.

btw viruz019,
Is it easy to take out the heatsinks for both gpu and cpu to apply new thermal paste? how bout void warranty for this?

Thx for the reply smile.gif
*
applying is fairly easy. open up back panel, unscrew heatsink and just apply. But make sure no mistakes are made. If you din lock your heatsink properly, you will have major heat problem. As for voiding warranty, i have no idea. you need to as MSI representatives. They can give you better answer.

QUOTE(Reizz @ Oct 30 2011, 02:09 PM)
Yea i tried via window but it prompt up says that this driver bios only supports windows 32bit.. Frustrated
*
QUOTE(c_s_mak @ Oct 30 2011, 02:42 PM)
Just a suggestion, maybe you can right click the bios flash .exe files from windows 7 > properties>find any compatibility options>should have a dropdown to choose which version u wan(ex windows xp 32 bit).

btw, they didn't provide 64bit flashbios?
*
you can try what c_s_mak suggested. Or old fashion way..put bios files into pendrive, restart laptop, mae sure first device to run is the USB, it will detect and install it. *I THINK this is how it works, better let the sifu help us out here. I don't want to mess up your laptop tongue.gif

Anyway, was hoping if anyone here got answer. If i want to replace my current harddisk to SSD. how to i extract the msi recovery into my ssd? this is quite bothersome x_X..i noe we can use norton ghost or similar software to clone..but then i wan fresh installation XD

Going to check out the 780 and err terrorize the MSI people there  tongue.gif . Anyways, always good to see more ppl buying MSI. I think product wise, they've really done it this time around with the new GT683 and 780. The family is also expending at the same time

QUOTE(lonelywolf90 @ Dec 4 2011, 07:05 PM)
Sanko, what can we benefit or gain from the BIOS update?
*
In my opinion, there is benefit updating. You might not be able to see what it solves but as they say, "prevention is better than cure" tongue.gif. When you found out something it's wrong, it could be too late wink.gif

QUOTE(Sanko @ Dec 5 2011, 03:23 PM)
Just to ask, would you pay an extra RM1000 just to get GTX580M over GTX570M? I myself wouldn't.
*
My opinion, definitely no. It's too expensive IMO, besides that, gtx570 is strong enough to run tons of games. Unless performance/quality hunger people then it's another story tongue.gif

QUOTE(rubrubrub @ Dec 5 2011, 03:37 PM)
how come u guys who want to game so much does not opt for sager 1?
Is mSI better? if yes, pls let enlighten me sifus.
*
Not to say MSI or Sager is better. It's more of personal preference.

For instance, Sager is cheap and the performance they provide is top-notch thus they got one of the best cost/performance ratio. As for me, I don't only look for performance. Why would I want to spend 5k on a laptop for it's specs and leave out it's appearance? tongue.gif

Previously my choices were between my MSI GX660r or Sager NP5xxx or Asus G73 or Alienware M15x. I draw out Sager first due to one reason, it's not eye-candy enough tongue.gif..then next is Alienware..to me alienware used to be a dream machine for me..but ever since it's landed on Malaysia..Tom d*** and Harry has it..it became something "common" sad.gif ..nw between asus and msi..both looks good, both are my type of laptop..i end up choosing MSI due to it's major benefits, Dynaudio. I love to listen to music especially on the go, so far I did not make the wrong choice choosing the GX660r tongue.gif. I think i'm one of the very few earliest user of the new refresh MSI gaming series laptop in Malaysia thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
