KILLER network cards (WIFI/Lan) have more features and faster speeds (supposedly) compared to normal cards.

@tonberry_ax: 1303 doesn't come with BT. Plus it's still pants compared to the Intel 7260 AC cards.

I honestly do not think that the Asus ROG Vulcan is nowhere near comparable to the K701. How was the K701 being driven? straight from a headphone jack? Or on a full on desktop system?
*
Ehem. "Holds its own" here doesn't mean it's comparable. It actually means "it doesn't sound like outright sheet compared to", unlike most other gaming headsets. Supposedly anyway, it was from a review on the net.

It was from a desktop external amp-dac btw.

Anyhows, I'm now leaning towards the notion that Razer Surround + an "okay" Headphone is enough for most of the stuff I do on the laptop anyway - spending 800+ just to be able to know which bullets come from where ACCURATELY is not really important when you're being suppressed on a regular basis by heavy enemy fire + tank shells while being mortar spammed, all at once.

I mean, YOU KNOW where they're coming from. No 7.1 or audiophile headphones are gonna help you pwn a tank and an entire squad of angry Russians right in front of you.

For music I'm listening from the on board realtek anyway so...

@tonberry_ax: Bring it in from outside and install ler lol. AC routers are available locally already anyway - though the biggest bottleneck is still bloody UniFi, so it's sorta pointless.

hahaha...  so what you think of price? Vulcan headphone

Not bad really. But I'm thinking if I use the Vulcan, I'll lose the detachable mics in a week... or even less.

So, I'm opting for a cheaper alternative for now. Save moneh maa.

ah i rather wait... if i am using GTX 780m on MSI machine... cause notebook maker probably need to mod it to make it function properly (as my GT70 use NOS...)

In the same boat here. If it ain't broken...

Last time during the M1210 days I was an obsessive driver updater - and the only thing it brought me was BSODs, boot lockups and general grief. Now I just wait for WHQL drivers, at least (and even now I a bit lazy to install 320.49).

Oh, and I'm trying the Sound Blaster Cinema crap, which is surprisingly NOT so crappy after all. At least to me and my Porta Pros. No substitute to a proper DAC/soundcard though, but it works quite well to make the Realtek a lot less... boring.

I had enough experience being Nvidia 's Guinea Pig with the GF Go 7400 on the M1210. Now I firmly believe that stability trumps raw performance any day where drivers are concerned.

I do intend to mod infs to get to 320.49 (which as always, doesn't support the GE40) simply because it's the most mature of the bunch for now, maybe during the weekends.

So THAT was the weird rubbery stuff under some of the chips - the fujipolys. Thankfully I didn't peel them off lol.

Where to buy em?

What laptop do you want to upgrade? Not sure about the "newest" MSI laptops, but MSI HAVE been upgradable in the past.

It's not gonna be cheap though.

Hmmm. Does Illegear sell standalone components etc: CPU/GPU/Killer wifi?
