Yep, same setup.. Devices plugged into TV's HDMI port. Then HTS plugged into the TV's only HDMI-ARC supported port. Setup ARC and CEC between TV and HTS. So basically, what happens is that, all audio sent to the TV from HDMI sources or TV's inbuilt apps (like YouTube & Netflix), gets sent striaght to the HTS which then outputs either PCM for stereo & unsupported formats or HD audio (DTS/DTS-HD MA/DD/DD+, etc) for content with such audio.
Yeah, HTS speakers sound far better than the TV's inbuilt speakers. Mounted properly around the room, you get proper 5.1, etc surround sound. Really can hear say an aircraft move around the room...
Directly connecting the PC to the TV is indeed better as the PC does the grunt of the work processing the movie file, leaving the TV to simply handle video mostly. With a decent NAS and healthy network, i believe still able to get good performance cuz NAS systems are designed specifically for such. However, since you are limited by the PC's hardware (cuz AFAIK laptops with HDMI out can only pass until 1440p max, want more? must use DP or like MAC's thunderbolt tech), then it's actually better you copy the files unto a USB drive and plug into the TV.. Get UHD and HD audio that way. Which is what I do as mentioned in earlier post. I don't joke around with A/V.
ok, got it up and running, was trying ard with the file sharing options, end up too troublesome and no idea ard it, end up downloaded samsung smart viewYeah, HTS speakers sound far better than the TV's inbuilt speakers. HECK, works like a breeze so far, maybe some subtitle issues, where its suppose to be in a same folder or what not
got the words light up for HD audio i guess, LPCM 48 i think, audio file was process by the tv and send out as lpcm?
Dunno is it just placebo, did some comparison on kodi processing n samsung smart view, seems sharper on the images on the smart view processing
thanks for the 4k heads up, time to try some of those samples file to see the tv can process the file or not
