On the KU Series only one HDMI (HDMI 1) supports HDMI 2.0 //HDCP 2.2 or it accepts an HDR signal the other two will not. That is a major draw back in the KU series compared to the KS where all 4 HDMI ports accept an HDR signal.

I believe yours is the KU6000? If so, then sadly only HDMI 1 supports HDR. Since the benefits of HDR are visual, you can get the Atlona JunoX 451 or similar. Then use the soundbar's optical in. While HDMI connection is ideal, if too problematic..better to settle for some performance from a toslink connection than none at all.

On a 2D TV you won't even be able to see the overlapping image from a real 3D source. The player will most probably just automatically play the 2D version. (On SBS 3D source you will only see the left and Right image Side-By-Side) on a 2D TV, but you can't do anything else.

Only on 3D TV can you see overlapping images. That's because the two separate Left Right images are being displayed together. That means 3D is working.

Your naked eyes won't be able to separate the images and see 3D because

1) Your eyes are not Polarised (for Passive 3D TV screen),

2) Your eyes can't open and shut alternately at 60 times x2 a second and  sync in Tandem with the Active 3D TV screen.

Only with special glasses can they do the work for you.

You can't, KU5500 can't play 3D, hardware limitation.
But now 3D going downhill, new 4K movie don't come in 3D

Those cheap ancient red/blue 3D can work anywhere, even on printed materials. Just have to find the matching Red/Blue glasses. No time to explain how it works.

But coming back to the Left/Right image you mentioned when you play the file on TV, is it 2 clear images side by side occupying each half of the TV screen? If so it is most probably an SBS 3D file. But don't get your hopes up, because it is not in 3D mode yet.

Only a 3D TV will have an option to activate and combine the two images so that they overlap (interlace) into one image (Passive 3D) or in the case of Active 3D , alternate the Left and Right Image (Full resolution, no interlace) so quickly (120 times per second)  that your eyes only see a continuous overlapping Blur.

Only when you see the overlapping image, is it in 3D. Only then will the Special 3D glasses be able to view them in 3D.

However if you have one of those VR Glasses/Headsets (Those cheap ones only cost less than RM100/-)  for inserting your Mobile Phone to view 3D , then you don't even need a 3D TV (Passive or Active) to see SBS 3D because using this method, the Left and Right image are positioned directly in front of your Left and Right Eyes respectively.

By doing this, the Left and Right is separated naturally due to the fact that the image is so close that your Left Eye can only see the Left image, and Vise Versa, your Right Eye can only see the Right Image. That way you get the 3D effect without any need for modern Technology

If in the old days if you have one of those 3D viewmaster gadgets you will understand.

Quite excited eventough it is a basic 4k tv(Currently using toshiba 40inch five years already, for sizewise, really a big different). First time buying basic 4k samsung tv, hopefully it can serve me at least few years time lahhh..

At first considering Panasonic EX600K 65inch,best price RM5575. But it dont have bluetooth function, expensive than MU6100, for picture quality i cant really see major difference, so at last i bought MU6100.

Yes.... 100% guaranteed.. Be it a NAS, PC, Mobile phones, etc.. As long as you have a healthy network, with the "server" and "receiver" setup properly. Tested using my setup (2014 Samsung TV, running SmartHub which is pre-Tizen OS & a windows 10 PC) and it works. Samsung even has PC software for such... It's called Samsung Smart View. There's also DLNA, SMB, etc.. YouTube howto videos and articles are available.

If the proper SMB client is implemented, you should be able to log on to your NAS from the TV. It can then access to where rights that were firstly given to the TV's network ID.

I'm sure there's a YouTube video available. It may not be specifically for your TV model but steps will be similar as long as the video talks about the protocols.. Personally, I prefer to either plug in USB with content or play through an Android box. At least, till I get a proper NAS system and beefier home network. This is because, most files I play are either easily streamed from the box or have to be downloaded due to being big files. Streaming raw & high bit-rate files wirelessly from the PC in another room is problematic. For small movie files, its okay.

I'd write you up a detailed tut but I'm running the older SmartHub OS with Windows 10 and you should be on the newer Tizen. I'm not that intimate with it.

The KU5500 should be running the newer Tizen OS. Windows 8? If Windows 10 is too heavy or so..I actually prefer Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows 8.. In all scenarios, using cable connection will always be better than using WiFi and suffer much interference, so better connect via cable. Majority of the PCs out there can play various sound formats but are physically incapable of pass-thru surround tech. Need to have specific audio cards and the right software before such is possible.. Else, just glorified stereo sound and your speakers do the rest. Kodi works well on my PC.. no issues there.

As for the Samsung TV in-built video player.. Yes, it does support playing surround sound through its speakers or pass-through via HDMI to a compatible Soundbar/HTS/AVR. My setup involves using HDMI-ARC tech to connect the TV, external players and HTS together. All sound sources are routed to come out of the HTS speakers (DD & DTS supported)..
