What food and fruits can not eat during breastfeeding?  shocking.gif

What can not do during breastfeeding? Example: Hair rebonding, colouring?  hmm.gif
*
During the 1st 3 months - I avoided any drinks with caffeine (tea, coffee). I limited my intake on soft drinks. I also limited my intake on spicy food. I totally avoided cabbage as this can give baby tummy ache/wind and also it may reduce supply.

After the 3 months..i slowly took coffee (1 cup a day) and starting consuming spicy food like normal.

Always remember that what you eat..it will somehow reflect in your breastmilk..hence..you got to know what you ate that gave baby certain symptoms..such as gas, tummy ache..hyper (not able to sleep)..or just simply, he/she dont like the taste of your milk. It is always trial and error as different babies can take certain things...some can't.

Remember..even if you drink milk (eg: Anmum or normal fresh milk), if your baby is lactose intolerant..your baby may get the effects. Or if you eat nuts, if he/she is allergic to it..she may also get the effects...hence it's very important to know what you ate.

As for hair rebonding or colouring..it's ok to do it during breastfeeding. My only advice is wait after 6-8 months..after your hormones stablizes..as you will lose lots of hair before that...and your hair tends to be very dry.

Added on June 27, 2011, 11:27 amand of coz..limit on junk food..or those food with empty calories. Remember that you are feeding your baby..so you need to eat healthy nutritional food.

I see.. 3 days is still ok.

I think the first problem that most moms encounter (which they don't realise/know) is latching on. Most moms assume that it's quite simple but this also pose a problem as the right latch is very important...for baby to properly drink and for mommies not to feel pain.

My hairstylist..was shocked that i'm still bf..and she told me that her friends said..bf is painful.. I bet because of wrong latching. I told her..no..no pain at all.

Added on June 28, 2011, 9:59 amsunflower808: another advise for you is..pls make sure that you know the right latching on (besides knowing how to get more supply and what to eat or not). Coz..if your baby latches on wrongly..your baby may not drink the milk properly (which results in baby not full, crying) and you may feel pain.

I also think that this also a reason why new moms say that they are not producing not enough of milk - propbably they latched on wrongly..thus not drinking enough milk directly.

yoo..wassap mommas...smile.gif
got a lil info for u guys...anyone tried green papaya soup?..basically it's young unriped papayas..boiled in soup..
my wife has been drinking that and OMG...the flow now it's crazy!!!! i dunno is it coincidental that the milk is starting to properly come on now..or it's due to this soup...but just wondering if u guys have tried it.. smile.gif
*
I was gonna used that as the last resort tongue.gif if the fenugreek didn't work...but didn't need to.

Great to know..that..i'll ask nicKit to post this up on the first page..so that new mommas can use this method.

sunflower...besides knowing what to boost your milk supply..pls ensure that latching on is correct too...coz this is one of the main thing that moms forget or take for granted (thinking that it's simple)

Added on June 28, 2011, 10:37 amthe 1st and most important hurdle in breastfeeding is latching on..then followed by supply.

If you get your latch on correct..then you only have to worry on upping your supply. If you get your latch on wrong..and not enough supply (sometimes due to wrong latch on - because baby is not expressing from breast correctly)...you got 2 things to worry.

Added on June 28, 2011, 10:41 amanother i like to add..is make sure baby drinks the hind milk..that's where the most nutrition and most filling for baby.

When baby is drinking milk..the milk that comes out first (which is slightly watery clear/bluish tinge) is called the foremilk. This foremilk usually would quench the baby's thirst. Then, after the foremilk (depends on how well & long your baby suckle), is the hindmilk..this milk is the one with the fats and nutrition that is filling for your baby.

my wife now uses hand expression. slowly massage and it will fill up bottles smile.gif.

i dunno about the ingredients in the papaya soup...i know green papaya's one of them smile.gif

another tip to know if ur baby's getting enough hindmilk...it'll be the poop colour...if it's greenish...it means too much foremilk (lactose)..if it's hindmilk..like phythia said..it has more fats and good/necessary proteins. smile.gif
*
yes...you are right smile.gif

I salute your wife! I dunno how to do the hand expression.

I'm in KL. guess I wud b able to attend KLCC one...

BTW I just found out that Durian greatly hepls to boost your BM supply!!!

I ate Durian yesterday (1st time I ate after delivery). My supply was definetly increased. Not so sure if it was co-incident but all my other meals were usuals...

Any 1 encountered this?
*
Hmmm...i don't recall if i ate any durian during FB..so i'm not too sure...

Certain food may work well for some ladies..some don't...but in any case..don't try to overindulge..as maybe (i'm not sure)...it may be too heaty for baby..
