I think what mrsdayana meant is the feeling of closeness when bf...as she has been directly bf for 18 months...it's a special relationship that she's gonna miss.

Even I..if i were to wean my son..I'm going to feel sad for ending this special relationship.

i know what you mean..and it's normal to feel proud coz bf..is no easy task. Even my colleagues will ask me if i'm still bf..i said yeah..and they will be amazed that i still got milk. Then they will add on that they tried but got no milk. I told them..there's no such thing as no milk..but it takes lots of hard work to make sure there's milk.

qarezma..how long did you bf your first son? Now you are pregnant with the 2nd one right?

Sometimes, support and knowledge plays an important role too besides determination.

you mean if you deliver the 2nd baby, you will stop the job?
Become full time mummy...?
what reason you plan to do that? hmm.gif

My mom said that she can't jaga another grandchild as children nowadays aren't like us (very good and quiet)..and also coz my mom's age is catching up.

So...even if i have a maid..it's not cheap (especially the initial fees..which is close to 10K). Then..we have no privacy as we are living in an apartment. so decided better not have maid.

3rdly...cost of everything is going up..especially education. If i get 2 kids..i'll have to work till i die..just to make sure they get into uni/college...that is..if they don't take up medicine..if they take up medicine..jia latt..work till die also cannot!!

And we are here to support you!

I'm staying in KL. Nanny can be expensive...plus..with nowadays scary stories..i'm very reluctant to send my send to a nanny.

At this moment..my mom takes care of my son in the mornings till i get home from work. I take care of him at nights..he doesn't spend overnights at my mom's.

anyways..i'm thinking of sending my son to a playschool next year...to let him mingle with kids his own age..

siawyee...my milk also stopped at exactly 1 month...i worked very hard after that to make sure it doesnt happen again.

A friend told me to boil fennel seeds and drink twice a day..and that's how my milk flowed again.

fill the saucepan with water (enough for 1 cup/mug), put 1 tsp of the seeds into the water. wait for it to boil. once the water is boiling, you can just keep it boiling for about 1 or 2 minutes more. Water colour will change to tinge of yellow. Switch off the gas and strain the seeds. Drink the water. Just do this 2 times a day..should be good.

You can also try with fennel seeds.

another one..is you boil barley..and drink it throughout the day..and eat the seeds too.

qarezma..was thinking if you are interested to go for a bf class conducted by Gina Yong? Would be good to attend and get first hand knowledge from a lactation consultant..

I didn't know about her till 4 or 5 months into bf...if i knew earlier..would have gone.

@phythia79

I'm gonna to due end of next month (July), can i ask you some question as you are experience BF Mummy  thumbup.gif

1. When baby was deliver, but she/he dont know how to suck the naper...then what can i do....?
2. During the first baby, the milk was not coming out for first few days...issit normal? what to do?
3. how long can be keep BM in room temperature / freeze....?
4. if take from freeze...how to warm it back?
5. how to increase the BM?  tongue.gif (forgot)
*
1. It takes time for both you and baby to learn. I suggest that you go for a bf class to gain 1st hand knowledge (see my post above on Gina Yong). Patience is the key here as both of you (you and baby) are still learning. Some babies learn how to suckle straigtaway..and some takes time. Thus you need to be patience. Keep on trying to latch on.

2. It's normal for milk to come in later. for the first time, the milk that comes out is colustrum..which is the most nutritious milk for the baby. Keep on trying to feed baby and it will instruct your body to produce milk. Remember, at this time, baby's stomach is the size of a pea..hence they don't need alot of milk to drink but they need more frequently (it's the frequency not quantity).

3. I would advise not to pump at this moment..as your milk has yet to be established. But if you have to pump..feed your baby with a spoon instead of a bottle & nipple..to avoid nipple confusion (as you are trying to teach your baby to suckle from your nipple, better not give any other nipple. Furthermore, babies will find it difficult to suckle because drinking from bottle is easier compared to direct as direct, they have to do extra work). BM in room temperature - i only keep up to 1 hr (though some say 4 hrs but bear in mind, that we are in Malaysia). If you freeze it, it can keep for 3 months.

4. If you are warming up from the freezer, you warm up with this method: pour hot water into a bowl/mug. submerge the frozen milk (in bottle) into it. Let it defrost.

Or you can buy the eletric warmer.

5. I think i just posted above or the page before.

Remember that demand = supply..thus if more demand..more supply. Drink lots of water. eat healthily.. don't skip meals...rest well and most importantly relax (though it's not easy but trust me..being stressed is not good to milk supply)

dear mommies who want to bf or give bf a second chance..kindly go to http://www.lovebreastfeeding.com/breastfeeding-class.html and see if you can attend Gina Yong's classes. It would be beneficial for you to attend and gain first hand knowledge on breastfeeding. It will help you prepare on what to expect when breastfeeding.

of coz it's chargeable..nothing good comes free. But i think on her website she said that if you aren't happy with the class..it's refundable (of coz with a valid reason).

I'm also a member of the breastfeeding network on FB...most moms there that didn't go for any bf class..they regretted of not going for the class...especially when Gina has experienced in bf all her kids besides being a professional lactation consultant. Even I regretted not knowing about her class coz I would have gone.

What we tell you here is just based on our experience...what you learn from a professional lactation consultant will be theory and practical.
