notworthy.gif what's bolster? (too lazy to wiki/google it)

okay, i can help u but i dont rly understand what are u saying here, so if u have digicam or phonecam, pls some photos showing all the defected area...

Now i need some tuning here...the pedal is well worn off! so i need to consider to change it...
ok, done. change the pedal.

2ndly is the bass drum skin...the one facing inside is kinda wave look alike already...even i screw it tightly also cannot make it flat...
change the drumhead.

the snare drum is totally out...cant make any draw...the vibration is all out!
maybe the snare wires putus alrdy. u can check the screws (its actually called tension rods) and maybe there are some screws missing. replace them.

the stool squeeks!
maybe WD40 can make those sound go away.

cymbals, hi-hat and crash need polish...but the crew of the cymbal and crash cracked! need replacement, is there available in music instrument store?
WOH FATT is your best bet for the replacement. bring the original and compare it first there before u buy.

left the 3 toms are alright only...

alright....thats the intro...now i need u guys to educate me...what should i do first?

i think the first thing is to change the drumhead to a new one. then, replace all the missing tension rods. and if u have spare time, buy Autosol from hardware store and use toothbrush to remove all the rust on the hardware.

can i change the drum skin other than the reowned brand?
can. Evans drumhead is abit pricey but they are good. Remo is much cheaper and they are good too. They even have cheaper version which is Made in Taiwan. So, its all depend on your budget.

and the front bass drum skin can use as the back one and i put the spoiled one infront?
can... if you dont care abt how your drums look.

please educate me please...thanks in advance!

on the other note, please visit my .Drum Blog
to have some idea in refurbishing an old-rusty drums

Good luck!

Up to you, but it's better to have something to mute the overtone of the bass drum.
It has to be some sort of cushion, pressing against the outer edge of the batter head.

Hey Kari,
One more questions about the optimounts. How many lugs do you have on your toms? Will it fit the ones with 6? I have an export which is 8 and also a forum which is 6. Would like to upgrade both to optimounts but even those guys at Bentley are not sure unless if I were to go there and check it out myself.

first, can u tell me the dimension of all your toms?

the only issue with Optimounts so far i've heard is they will NOT fit 14"x14" Export/Forum floor toms. This is because Optimount is actually meant for higher-end Pearl Drums (Session/Masters and above) and all of them have 8 lugs each side whereas Export/Floor 14" toms have only 6 lugs each side.

both my 12" and 13" toms have 6 lugs each side and you must first make sure what is the depth of your toms because Optimount is based on the depth of toms and not diameter.

I have a 12"x9" and 13"x10" forum toms that I would like to use the optimounts with, they both have 6 lugs...and they export is the same but with 8 lugs....I've read through the PDF and one guy said that the Optimounts wont work with Forums cause there's only 6 lugs...while there is no problem with Exports.....But since it does fits yours, I think fitting a tom with 6 lugs won't be a problem....I think =)
