You sure you're not making up that auto adjust feature? I had to angle mine, manually.

And I don't agree with that PDF thread either =S
*
haha sorry... blush.gif
well i think its something like that i dont remember what the feature is, but it seems helpful for me.... : /
i guess if your looking for beaters the only choice is trying them out wherever you ccan and choose the one you like best i guess... tongue.gif

QUOTE(kari_convention @ Jun 19 2008, 04:54 PM)
hey dude. ive got a copy of DRUM! mag April issue. There's a whole article about micing percussion stuffs. From bongo to conga to whatever... lets see tonite i can scan it for u or not.

btw, i came to a point where i dont think i can save until i can buy Zildjian high end hats and ride.. so i was thinking to buy a temporary hats and ride from Stagg which is a lot2 cheaper and therefore i can start practicing with my own kit as soon as possible. So, any suggestion on good Stagg Hats and ride? Anyone?
*
ive tried the SH hats in my drum class at school and i must say theyre pretty good. closed theyre okay but they have a very nice chick imo... its good but of course not like zildjian mastersounds or anything... but its quite nice biggrin.gif last i checked you can get it for RM300++ from TGS hartamas (thats where i buy MY stuff so i fdont know the price at other places but its around that price there. biggrin.gif

BTW: kari, i like how nice your kit looks.... i saw the pics from your drum blog from when you bought it and youve really done an amazing job. biggrin.gif

im gonna start saving up again so by the timme mmy birth day comes and raya comes, i can merge money to get some new cymbals biggrin.gif
i have to start doing more stuff to earn money too....tongue.gif

Thank you for the pics Kari....By the way, how much did you get the masking plate for? Bentley?
*
i cant really remember but its around RM20-RM30 each. The part number is GK-90

QUOTE(atomicjelly @ Jun 19 2008, 07:48 PM)
Kari, did you put your masking plate on the toms too? And then you put the Optimounts on or did you just put the Optimounts on straight without putting on the masking plate? Just wondering. Thanks!
*
first i remove the original tom bracket, then clean up the residue of the bracket on tom then i send the toms to JS Music because the masking plate not fit into my original bracket hole. (The orginal bracket have 2 screw holes and the masking plate is actually for newer Exports which have 3 screw holes). So the guy there make a new hole to fit my masking plate and it covered the hole that allows tom arm to penetrate into the toms.
Finally, i put Optimounts on the Toms.

hope that helps.

Party2DMax, Nintendo Wii: it took alot of elbow grease job to clean such a 24 years old rusty drums. i almost give up at some point because i cant stand the polishing job but patient really pays off.

Namqul: ive also spotted Stagg cymbals few times... RTM uses them in some small shows and i also remembered big concert in TV3 where 'Sotong' is the drummer for the show where he uses Stagg china and few crashes i think.
They dont bring DH Hats? Too bad! I've asked Daniel to bring it in but he cant guarantee me sad.gif

kari: hmm in that case, why not go with zildj? ive tried zxt if im not mistaken. quite impressive. very nice chick sound. can get about rm420/450 if i remember correctly. then, you can try your luck for ride. worse come to worse, solar is under 200 dude. hehe.

i feel you man.... too many things to pay and the new fuel price really pressured average joe like me. damn.. how i wish i was born earlier! ahahaha...

ZXT? ermm... ive played ZXT titanium hats and ride before and i dont like it. the hats sound very metallic and the ride is too washy. too much! same goes with my previous Sabian Pro ride... i cant stand the washiness... its just too much. ive heard good thing about ZHT though but i think the price is much more expensive than ZXT. Solar? i dont wanna waste my money on those.

ive talked to Daniel again and he said he have to clear his current Staggs stock first before he can order a new shipment. sad.gif

but your budget is 800 dude. that is quite tight, plus ur getting ride and hats, witch is more expensive than other type of cymbals. heres another suggestion, i think JS still have few pairs of VB hats. you can try those. priced at 300. i dont like the way they sound, it does not hurt to try rite. and for ride, burgercis quoted me 5xx for a dh ride. try giving him a call.

namqul: oh okay... thanks. biggrin.gif

Kari: Maybe you could try and go for the ZHT mastersounds theyve actually been compared to A mastersounds. from what ive read they seem like a very good budget choice. ive heard a few hats(zht) and i think they are way better than my B8's. i mean, even some pros are using the ZHT mini-hats! smile.gif and for the ride you might wanna try the B8 ride. seriously! imo after aging it, it has a very nice ping and its not too washy.

heres a clip of comparison for the hats.

a friend of mine advice me to buy those hats too. but the price is a bit confusing. before this, he went to JS and saw the pricetag for the hats is RM270. When he came next week, the price have been increased to RM300++ . Therefore he didnt take it and bought my Sabian Pro hats instead biggrin.gif

500++ for DH ride? how does it sound? bright? washy? 500 is a big investment for a ride and i dont want to bluntly buy it if i dont try it first...

Nintendo Wii: i believe that is a New Beats hats and not A Mastersound. yeah... they sound quite similar but New Beats are better i think.

Kari: yeah, i meant the newbeats... sorry. biggrin.gif

the new beats are better but for the price, you gotta admit, the ZHT's are very nice. and these are the regular ones not the mastersounds. wink.gif

and as for the DH ride, heres a link to try it out, but remember, as staggs are all completely hand made, the sound differs from cymbal aLOT.

I tried the Pearl quad beater and it's fine. I can't see how it can be tangibly poorer than the Cobra beater, if at all. But I kinda expected the beater to be turnable like Slug beaters, lol.

Anyway, I've found that the Gibraltar bass practice pad is poorly designed and cannot accomodate unconventional pedals. I can suggest at least one zero-cost improvement.
I have no choice but to mod it - gonna get a couple threaded holes drilled so that it can fully rest on spikes, and is lifted higher. I'm also gonna get it weighted... probably fill it with lead shot.
As if there's not enough work.

Oh, and the rubber playing surface needs a patch. The thing isn't durable; tiny bits of rubber fall off at every strike.

So there's my review of this product. Not so good, eh? Even so, the Pearl one isn't any better and would require just as many fixes.
The average guy probably wouldn't mind these things but since I have the means, I cannot leave this inferior product alone >=D

ive tried the Gibraltar kick practice pad. its sucks. the rubber felt so cheap and its like so bouncy. the Pearl one is much better and from my reading in PDF, it really imitates the feel of real bass drum.

but its expensive. nod.gif

Added on June 22, 2008, 12:38 amNintendo: yeah... i like the sound of the DH ride there. thanks for posting this up.

There you go with your "feel" again =P But honestly I don't think the rubber feels cheap. It's just fragile... very.
The Pearl is not more expensive by much. SGD50 at Swee Lee's sales, or RM190 before discount at Bentley.
The Gibraltar is RM160 after discount.

And another important thing... the above problems only applies to usage with Axis double pedals.
It may or may not have problems with other double pedals but I think there would be no problems with any single pedals.
Oh well, it should be all good after the mod. Just like the saying, "If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself".

Now i need some tuning here...the pedal is well worn off! so i need to consider to change it...

2ndly is the bass drum skin...the one facing inside is kinda wave look alike already...even i screw it tightly also cannot make it flat...

and inside they insert a bolster last time, the smell sucks...

the snare drum is totally out...cant make any draw...the vibration is all out!

the stool squeeks!

cymbals, hi-hat and crash need polish...but the crew of the cymbal and crash cracked! need replacement, is there available in music instrument store?

left the 3 toms are alright only...

alright....thats the intro...now i need u guys to educate me...what should i do first?

can i change the drum skin other than the reowned brand?
