Aw shucks... and to think that I would've bought that Pearl beater, times two.
Luckily I forgot about beaters when I went to JS/Bentley over the weekend =S

How is the Cobra beater better, or rather, what is the Pearl beater lacking, and how much are they?

well the cobra beater is lighter, less bulky, and it has its auto adjust feature where when its not evenly flat on the bass drum it adjusts itself to be flat on the bassdrum. it has wood, felt and rubber beaters (three different types not on the same beater) but if you want to change, say, from rubber to felt, you dont have to buy a new pedal for 30-50 bucks (i forgot how much exactly tongue.gif) you can just replace the top head thing of the beater for like ten bucks if i remember correctly. i bought mine at tgs hartamas and i saw a few others at bentley mutiara damansara...

sorry when i said dual sided i meant quad beater blush.gif

sorry if i sounded ignorant btw in my statement i meant it imo.... sweat.gif

i found this thread a while back so i searched for it again cos i figured it'd come in handy biggrin.gif

You sure you're not making up that auto adjust feature? I had to angle mine, manually.

And I don't agree with that PDF thread either =S

hey dude. ive got a copy of DRUM! mag April issue. There's a whole article about micing percussion stuffs. From bongo to conga to whatever... lets see tonite i can scan it for u or not.

btw, i came to a point where i dont think i can save until i can buy Zildjian high end hats and ride.. so i was thinking to buy a temporary hats and ride from Stagg which is a lot2 cheaper and therefore i can start practicing with my own kit as soon as possible. So, any suggestion on good Stagg Hats and ride? Anyone?

Kari, I have actually tried the Stagg cymbals and it's only about the RM200+ price range...but it sounds almost as good as the Zildjians....I'm not kidding. I"m myself using Zildjians As and Ks but the Stagg sound is impressive....Where are you at? If you're in Penang give Daniel a call...in KL Burgercis....

By the way, let me know about the Optimounts after you got your tom holder. I'm thinking about getting them myself. I'm currently in the process of upgrading my kits...By the way if you're looking for the TH-1000 it's RM 90 at Bentley.....clamp for it is RM 75

owh, but im yet to buy my bongo. thinking of that for this month pay. hehe.

welcome to the club dude. for ride, i think DH is good. i even watch someone using it in RTM1. but cant remember which concert. sounds really good. for hats, if you can find DH fat hats here, man thats going to be awsome. but i think they dont carry it here. anyway, whats your budget for both?

Kari, did you put your masking plate on the toms too? And then you put the Optimounts on or did you just put the Optimounts on straight without putting on the masking plate? Just wondering. Thanks!
