Press Menu and see if the phone or contact app are running in the background. Close it and then try the update again? Just a suggestion...

i know why, because just now i set my date to 2008 because installing a expired cert software. now change back seems refreshing list of available updates..

from the argument between leo and bufung....base on my experience thru several OS and couple of phones i would like to say OS is very subjective matter due to the customer demand.im absolutely disagree bout ONLY Nokia/Symbian firmware upgrade/update waiting game.besides that, nokia not only fix bug but in fact they did some update too.
1.iOS.its cool with TONS of application, smooth UI,user frenly.....but u know rational user(iFag would said everything done by GOD steve job is perfect no need update) expect(when 3gs time) for multitasking la,folder la,zooming for camera la,this and that...is it a waiting game???iphone 4 now,im waiting for video call, adobe flash player, mircrosoft office and the list memang panjang...
2.Android.i would said android is the upgraded version of iOS.tons of apps, smooth UI,user frenly, flash 10.1 but android consumer also suffered in waiting game...im waiting of variety of choices for keyboard input, garmin support...the list oso panjang..
3.BB.this is the most less bug, less laggy OS as i experienced.but im waiting for update too...flash support?GPS navigation?(recently just play with the so called UPDATE released by RIM.BB Torch 9800 disappoint so damn much)
4.Maemo5 aka meego.the least experience on this OS coz the godlike phone only lay 3 days on my hand.portrait mode is the major update i wishing..
5.windows phone 7,not yet hands on so i wouldnt comment much on this os.

hence, base on my personal experience..every OS every phone need update coz nothing is perfect.(too bad,how good if im a fanboi,no need to wait update)
OS is very much depending on what u demand...people who love play games and apps,iOS is the best.
people who love surfing internet and play apps, android suit them perfectly with flash 10.1.
people who always travel around and need a lower budget phone, symbian.
people who love programming and customize their phone,maemo5 aka meego.
comparing a OS advantage to another OS disadvantage is very cruel and unfair, look at pros and cons, worthiness and what feature u use heavily everyday.

Guys

If lets say I add the FB and Weather Widget on N8 Homescreen, and turned the widgets into online mode. Can we set the refresh interval time, lets say every hour our every r hrs? As I only subscribe to the 500mb p/month package from Maxis

but u dont have to buy one.. biggrin.gif

@Leo, enjoy ur mad..

other phone like Android are talking about Upgrading..  not much Bugs fixing like Symbian anymore..

again same old story..  alot of consumer don't care about updating firmware..  they buy and they stick with watever they have..

to phone like Android/iOS/BB OS.. stable enough when the device out..   end of story.....  Symbian..  ya.. stable.. maybe to u..  not me...

HI man, I see you coming in here and teasing the N8 and symbian so much. Yes I agree the OS is not a good as IOS and maybe Android. In fact let me tell you something, I was an Iphone 3gs for a year. Love the phone. Fantastic smooth os. Now why would i want to change to symbian? Because the price of the device, and camera, and the widgets. I like these. For the deal you are getting out of this device is worth it. Yes, i know what you meant when you said others can be used well out of the box. Well there are always pro's and con's.. right now the phone only has con's in the OS. Nothing else. So yes we are all waiting for the update for it to smoothen out, but thats just symbain.

Honestly.. we get your point.. you dont like symbian.. so why dont you just get off this forum already instead of instigating others who are here to help and learn?

Bro, dont worry, it would be more then enough, keep on checking your data counter. I only have 100 mb.. will be upgrading to 500 for maxis soon as well. Trust me, 500 can last the month with fb and even some minor downloads, but then again.. keep on monitoring your data count, in the LOG like me.
