don think mechanical keyboard will help alot in o2jam
since i either keep bottom the key or miss a lot note
i think this type jamming game i prefer rubber dome keyboard

but with mechanical keyboard typing really much more ENJOYABLE
laptop scissor membrane switches still acceptable
i hate the clicky heavy touch key now (especially spamming the key)

I no money for the o2jam subscription :{

Also... to be honest i'm not really good with that game  cry.gif
O2JAM requires 6-7 keys to depress at times for either short taps, or long presses. Meaning your going to need NRKO if your a serious o2jam player doh.gif
*
ya most of the mechanical no problem with the nkro issue
but most of those cheap ps2 port kb got no issue on this also

but lycosa really really suck in anti ghosting and nkro

Well USB is 6KRO sometimes. However some even have 2KRO. So i strongly suggest people check what the keyboard their getting as, since 2KRO may be too little for a gamer. 6KRO may suffice.

NKRO is the best meaning no worry. NKRO can be achieved using PS2 for the most part. The Ducky i am getting is native USB, however using a USB to PS2 adapter i can get NKRO :} My motherboard has PS2 interface so i will use that for games like O2Jam, but for everything else i will use usb for convenience sake plug and play.

There is a new tech called NKRO Pro which allows NKRO using USB without PS2 at all. Seems Irocks and Plum mechanical keyboard have it :/
Wow thats awesome. Congratz man  thumbup.gif

if i not mistaken 7g is about 8kro after used a ps2 to usb converter

what a long explanation..
can say partially agree la

keyboard like g15 g19 black window i think definitely can say is gaming keyboard because of the extra macro can is for gaming purpose only

the mechanical kb not really do special thing for gaming just they suitable for gaming as well

but some gaming keyboard like lycosa and arctosa i cant find any special feature for gaming except the 1000hz ultrapolling rate
other than that it is quite rubbishish

For my own price range, i think Ducky or Filco are good for gaming/typing. Both brands have a choice of blue, brown or black cherry switches; which you get depends on your own preference. These 2 recommendations are roughly RM 450 ish.

Of if you prefer, the BW sells for around RM 390 or something; but uses blue cherry switches if you don't mind ?
yeah, i prefer to go into detail to debunk any misunderstandings. I don't know if he was trolling or honestly misunderstood about the deck and ducky. To give the benefit of a doubt, i try to enlighten instead  nod.gif  I don't force people to take what i say literaly true, as i do encourage them to study the facts through other channels themselves  smile.gif
Anyway lycosa and arctosa are rubber dome keyboards doh.gif That is not to say they aren't gaming keyboard, but they aren't mechanical doh.gif so yeah.... Some people don't mind rubber dome kbs, while others do. There is no right or wrong answer, but since this thread is mostly for those who are particular about the quality of their kb, be it build or performance, it's reasonable to say that it matters to most of the people in this thread  that their keyboards are mechanical by nature :} And yes there are gaming mechanical keyboards even if some of them lack led aesthetics or macros features.
Here is a utube video for the razer bw. Someone more knowledgeable than me thinks that the leds are sufficiently bright. So i guess they wont be a lack luster experience like the Logitech G15 V1 i own and felt was very dim.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eprYI9piYS0
*
i not means rubber dome keyboard then is not gaming keyboard
just don think arctosa and lycosa did have any good feature for so call "pro" gaming gear
they are just very normal keyboard then add in the back lit and with the razer logo only

to me, i guess what he meant isnt about the technicality or the quality. no doubt that its good, but i think what he meant was about the finishing.
finishing of the product is always important, and personally, in my own opinion, not saying that its correct, the brands you mentioned lack somewhat that finishing that makes the product looks high quality and candy to the eye.
which to any casual customer, would prefer to get something else that looks great, and functionality later.  for an example, razer blackwidow. about its performance, lets judge later when its released and in front of our doorstep.
no point dissing them, hope razer would raise their quality, i would certainly pay extensively if the product's overall is awesome on the inside and outside.
just my 2 cents. =)
*
i like this whole paragraph
smart consumer

until current moment i think most of the razer product are overpriced compared to other hardware brand in term of performance durability and quality control
nowaday lot consumer buy razer product is like just following the trend

for example my destructor is a used unit i buy from another forumer
he is not a gamer ..nvr research lot in mousepad also

simply cos lot of his fren say this good that good then he bought destructor and mamba during the pc fair
then 1 month after that pc fair the destructor become bady in my hug lol

if blackwindow have a good feedback later then i think it will be quite considerable since the function is good..now waiting for the feedback on how the durability and quality only

since you think wanna get membrane then can ask at the gaming keyboard thread

anyway since you here d..i suggest razer blackwindow expert
since got lot macro and also mechanical..if your budget 200+ why not increase bit more to 299 for bw expert

razer bw expert edition is really tempting. but i really want a board that has a nice big palm rest like 7g and sidewinder x6.
filco leather palm rest cost a bomb. =(
*
yup agree

the leather palm rest so poisonous
i not interested bw expert version..if use bw expert i rather keep going with my 7g
but bw ultimate is not bad ^^ just don have palm rest only
bw ultimate + filco leather palm rest should be a godlike combination

I see.. so i guess there's no best of everything.
Mechanical wireless with backlight doesnt seems to be on the market yet.

Though i heard some mechanical already have wireless.
I've not touched one before but from the way it's design, it shud feel quite different from normal keyboards.

I've always liked Illuminated backlight keyboards , works kind of cool when i'm watchin movies with my lights off. I could juz type without switchin on my lights to search for my keys.

Guess i'll stick to logitech illuminated... I don't really hit my keys vigorously so i guess it shud be fine.
*
what i know about logitech backlit is suck..most ppl say logitech backlit is really dim just like useless
i think you like lycosa rite (for the design and back lit)

another reason i don like logitech keyboard is most of their keyboard key cap i think is quite slippery i cant get used to it

anyway i got such case before also

i remembered my first so call gaming mouse quite long time ago (razer salmosa)
act basically the mouse is quite good just without light i think is sumthing like kinzu just the quality not as good as kinzu
but after i used it for 2 month ..the right click of the mouse start producing some weird sound..thats why i sell it to another forumer asap before i need to send for rma ^^
act not that bad la..just weird sound it still working properly..

would there be supporter here?
btw, base on the Experience i have here, jus would to quote alittlebit

Gaming Keyboard is hard to determine. Some people claim Mechanical is Gaming. While some not mechanical they claim them gaming as well.
As someone here mentioned, It depend on how the marketing team of the company definie their product.

for me i define cherry keyboards as : SEMI GAMING, SEMI PRO USER. That's all
*
after bring it into malaysia plz get me a filco leather palm rest plz
i really want it

Problem with rubber dome, sometimes you have issue, that you press one key, another key is registered instead.

You don't have this problem with mechanical because each key has it's own switch.

Some good mechanical keyboards also have gold cross points. Also remember with the many different switches, you got good ones for gaming such as black which is linear, or if you want much lighter there is red. I honestly doubt rubber dome can compare to it in terms of reaction time, low resistance, and accuracy doh.gif

Anyway here a video of O2Jam youtube

@storm88

Do you mean Filco ?  hmm.gif
*
ofcos performance and quality accuracy of mechanical is better than rubber dome keyboard

but mechanical keyboard not really much silent than rubber dome switch
if bottom those non clicky switch it is much more noisier than rubber dome switches
but i like the sound also

i did try ply sdo with my 7g at midnight
really make lot noise

RM 320 for a filco, not bad. Might bet some cherry browns if I got the cash, probably in 2 years time =( unless I sell my 7g

i mean, i TRYING to make it MSRP RM320 la. Definately without Nkey la. if with nkey at RM320, i think i doing charity already sweat.gif
haven't decide. now they hav green, blue, brown, and black (MX)

Might will skip the blueswitch, as the sample on hand gave me the feeling of : BLUE SWITCH IS DAMM NOISY sweat.gif
*
not very noisy la
mx blue is tactile clicky key
it got bit feel like rubber dome and very heavy touch and tactile
compare to you mx black which is totally no click
if you like 7g then definitely won go for mx blue

but personally think mx brown is quite ideal and compromise for typist and gamer

that arm rest will cost RM150+/-
you sure you want ka? sweat.gif
*
last time when i decide whether get 7g or 6gv2 the only criteria i consider is the palm rest
the usb and audio jack not really important for me since i got my extension wire of those port also

so at last i realize i will to spend extra 130 just for 7g's palm rest
the filco palm rest i made of leather if i not mistaken
so 150 for that rest is much more worth than for 7g palm rest

Im surprised to hear that some keyboards can't play O2 jam. My previous Samsung RM 20 keyboard played O2 jam with no problem.
I though most keyboards have their sdfjkl and spacebar wired different so no issues there.

Actually I dislike playing O2jam on a mechanical, the sound of the keyboard gets too loud when Im spamming keys =P
*
true for most of the ps2 port kb
and true also for some usb keyboard which is 6kro
but if some kb the keys you used are crashing for transmission wire then it won work
mechanical kb ofcos no prob

act i don like use mech kb for sdo also last time
but after you get use for it then shud be ok

the most cheapo keyboard if not mistaken is 3~4 kro. i ever encounter in some songs which need to press more than 3 keys at a same time caused me miss in the game... sweat.gif

The filco armrest made by Cow leather. Anyhow RM150 is just an estimation. all info provided here is not Confirmed, as the deal not yet on.

btw, managed to source some info regarding green switch or called green axis switch.

if 150 i really think worth it..the leather itself is d high cost product

nope..go get a lycosa then try sdo with keys zx./ then you will know this world got keyboard is less than 4kro

Eh… The Filco one actually quite sucks inside smile.gif

The Ducky comes wrapped in a velvet pouch and includes a free white WASD and key puller set.

The Filco has nothing, just a plastic shell covering the top of the keyboard, and one little USB/PS2 converter.

Added on October 25, 2010, 9:24 am

No, the Filco one is not worth it at that price.

The so called leather they use is the same type that is on the Ducky. The type of cheap thin leather that you find on bibles and other religious books. Not the nice thick leather that you find on wallets and shoes.
*
im not sure about the quality
but it looks good
maybe it is not that good but i think at least more comfortable than 7g's?

Added on October 25, 2010, 5:47 pmhmm seem like lot ppl look forward for mx red..but i think it is too soft
eventhough now i using 7g..some time i will also did mistake by accidentally press some key..mx brown switch is idealistic switches for me..but not red
