i can deal with lags. but i can't accept it when people see that my phone lags.
this is RM2k phone we're talking about here! IT SHOULD BE PERFECT OR NEAR PERFECT! It should not lag!
*sigh* too much negativity in one man, in one day...
*
Oh god, stop complaining! Didn't you read about lag issues before you get a SGS? You aren't illiterate are you?
Now, go back to XDA forums and get yourself a fix instead of complaining about it here. Wanna show off to your friends? Get an iPhone without animated backgrounds and 3D app drawer.

oh so now we can't complain?  mad.gif
don't blame me. i read review from gsmarena and they say it's good. i even watched several youtube videos about software part of SGS.
and all is good! no lag whatsoever! but that's because they (for whatever reasons) don't install third party apps in their bloody phone!!!
and when i first got my SGS, i immediately notice lag after few minutes using it. yeah i know, android is all about "working-together-to-fix-things-that-are-broken" but cut me some slack here! i just want my first experience with smart phone to be entertaining. not like this: full of pro-geeks-tweaking to get a working phone. i'm a medical student, not some techie-smart-ass!
excuse my ranting. oh my download just finished. JPA here i come!

EDIT: I tried OCLF. then voodoo beta 1 (let me stress, BETA 1 - the first voodoo). then flash beta froyo. and now darky raw steel 3.0 + 340MB speedmod. suddenly i've become a geek, all because of this phone!
*
Oh okay, if you put it that way. Different people have different things to commit to. Reviews are usually out of the box review, sometimes I find them exaggerating also. You're right when you say this: full of pro-geeks-tweaking to get a working phone. Haha..

hahaha and now i'm addicted to this hacking and tweaking.  rclxms.gif
sorry for my emotional outburst earlier. peace. bro!  icon_rolleyes.gif
on a side note: JPA seems better than JPM. don't take me word by word.  doh.gif
*
Haha... it's alright. That's what forums are for. I was a little insensitive as well.

Hey tell me how you felt about JPA..

I am on JPO right now but I don't feel any difference in performance. More laggy got lah... After wiping cache, dalvik cache, factory reset, it got much better but it still feels slower than JP6 I was on. Kinda disappointed. Now restoring titanium backup, will let it settle down and will see how it goes.

For those who wants to know the difference between JPA and JPO.

To quote from XDA member,
QUOTE(MCOGW;8926120)
No, I think you're wrong. It's the same like it was with JPM /JP6.
JPM was the KOR Version, JP6 was build out of JPM-Base next day

I9000XXJPM
ro.build.date=2010. 10. 06. (x) 14:10:05 KST
ro.build.host=sep-42
ro.build.changelist: 615847

I9000XWJP6
ro.build.date=2010. 10. 07. (x) 12:55:58 KST
ro.build.host=SE-S608
ro.build.changelist:618121

Now it's:
JPO is the KOR Version, JPA was build out of JPO-Base next day

I9000XXJPO
ro.build.date=2010. 10. 25. (x) 17:07:14 KST
ro.build.host=sep-35 #1
ro.build.changelist: 657367

I9000XWJPA
ro.build.date=2010. 10. 26. (x) 11:06:57 KST
ro.build.host=SE-S608 #1
ro.build.changelist: 658725

build.date, build.host and build.changelist always tell us what we need to know.
and btw: #1 in build.host tells us something too wink.gif

I guess the final XX will look way like this:

I9000XXJPQ (or maybe even I9000XXJPS)
ro.build.date~ 2010. 11. 02. (x) 16:27:09 KST
ro.build.host~sep-28
ro.build.changelist~ 681497

Anyone interested in numbers? tongue.gif

I've tested both JPO and JPA.

Quadrant:
Stock JPO with hardcore's kernel NON RFS EXT4: 1510
Doc's JPA with hardcore's kernel NON RFS EXT4: 1870

MFLOPS:
Stock JPO with hardcore's kernel NON RFS EXT4: 16.348
Doc's JPA with hardcore's kernel NON RFS EXT4: 16.871

Results after restoring 324 apps on titanium backup.

Hehe, realtime performance. JPA wins hands down.
I find that JPO is a little buggy. I flashed twice to make sure (and loss my data along the way!! mad.gif ) In power save mode, I plug in USB and the phone just reboots. I am happy with JPA so far.

any faster way to restore apps in batch through titanium ? must we always approve 1 by 1 during installation?

Use Nandroid backup in CWM. You can choose to restore your data or system files and etc.

yeah, i'm really glad i took those call and flash XWJPA. it's more responsive (+ULF EXT4) than darky 3.0 custom roms.
trust me on this.
on a side note: mind sharing your applist with us, bro? curious to see what apps did you install. i got only 1xx apps only. but before this (on eclair) i got like 2xx apps. but wiped out when i flash to froyo (can't restore from 2.1 to 2.2)
*
Yeah, it's nice and fluid so far. I got couple of FCs but still not bad.
How to share app list the easy way instead of typing it out here? tongue.gif

Chill. Just go back to download mode, flash your latest firmware. When you're in it, flash Doc Kalpik V7 again from CWM.

Okay, here's my applist. I don't know why titanium backup says 324 elements though. Haha. Sorry to disappoint you all but it's not much to see. biggrin.gif

*
That's download mode. You can flash new firmware, rom, kernel using Odin in download mode. For recovery mode, hold volume up, home and power button.

I make the story short... Failed during flashing, took it back to phone shop, waited 2 weeks and they kept telling me repairing in progress, no idea when it will be done. And.. they cheated me, give me AP phone tell me it is original.

Now argue until refund, top up a bit and changed to ori phone. Bricked it, sent back for warranty, took 1-2days = done
*
That's not the phone problem. That's service problem. AP or ORI works the same after flashing to the same firmware.
AP = different region, you don't know where but most probably Europe.
ORI = Asia, our region.

how t get launcherPro?

How to get the TW launcher?

Read Doc's posts FULLY. Download the medium apps then full apps zip files then install them in CWM. He wrote that it's a barebone rom. So, you need to manually install bloatware back, if you want it back.

Can someone please teach me how to use papago x5 ? i got the singapore and malaysian edition...but i cant see to locate where my current position is, i'm in penang now... but it shows me as in klang... oh n there is this satellite signal blinking with a question mark on the top right corner, what does it mean. I turn on my GPS but i still cant locate myself
*
I think that's the part where the GPS tries to locate your position.
How long does that GPS signal blink?
Mine lock in at 5 seconds (the best) and sometimes takes 1 minute.

IT doesnt stop blinking,. It blinks forever... Sien... i'm still using Android 2.1. I turn on the 3g and stuff n including of course GPS...but s till cannot lock at all... Everytime i press the current position button it brings me to klang...
*
Then it means your gps couldn't lock in. go to market and search gps status. That will temporarily improve your gps.

Hey guys, I know SGS is known for their flail GPS software, but do you guys realise it gets so much worse on 3G network? When on Wifi and GPS turned on, it took less than 40 seconds to lock in. With 3G network, it took 252 seconds on average to lock in.
