Probably locked to only 0.9 & 1.0. Sometime manufacturer put cheap voltage regulator which won't allow you to increased or decreased the voltage manually.

arr... if so, there is probably no way to adjust the voltage... bummer...

anyway, it was sure fun. it's 4:21am... going to bed.

thanks for helping thumbup.gif

hmm, after enable No SLIC, now can pack the new BIOS...
Flash or not to flash...
No pendrive available for Crisis Disk...

For the BIOS.WPH
Is it this file BIOSCOD00.ROM renamed to that ?
Here got BIOSCOD00.ROM until BIOSCOD08.ROM

If the original BIOS is BIOS.WPH, the modified BIOS is BIOS_SLIC.WPH. BIOSCOD00.ROM is just one of the BIOS modules. You can ignored it. The BIOSCOD0x.ROM should not change because it's not related to VBIOS mod. Only one of the OPROM0x.ROM is modified.

EDIT: For VBIOS mod (undervolt/overvolt or underclock/overclock), only one OPROM0x.ROM change. Everything else should identical.
(For example - Left: original BIOS. Right: modified BIOS)

Since the BIOS is flashabl.rom and output is flashabl_SLIC.rom, the flashabl.rom I renamed to BIOS.WPH and replace the one in Crisis Disk ?

Yes, put the original BIOS (renamed to BIOS.WPH) in the CRISIS disk. The hotkey to trigger the BIOS recovery mode on Dell Studio is the "End" key. You already know right?

Without SLIC, will you have problem with Windows Genuine stuff? I am not so sure... anyway, u can always flash back the official bios i guess...

i m currently not sure how to proceed on overvolting 5650...

Was a little too excited last night with you and kizwan helping me, so, did not investigate this slowly.

Apparently, using anything lower than 1.0 volt is acceptable! So, as of now, I can undervolt it. Now using it, on Switchable graphic and PowerPlay works fine. No problem so far, was playing Street Fighter 4 just now. Just use exactly the same steps from here:

http://acer.it168.com/thread-1315933-1-1.html

Ignore the Additional Feature.

As soon as I try anything above 1.0v, the BIOS will boot, but ATI driver will crash during Windows boot up. Dont know why. So, I go BIOS, change to Discrete and it will boot up just fine. However, when I use Discrete, PowerPlay is gone. So, the voltage is ALWAYS 1.0v. It make sense since what I adjusted are PowerPlay states! My next step is probably to force hex edit the Additional Features to overvolt it!

But today I have been away from my notebook so, have little time to test this...

So, ya, now I know the voltage is adjustable... undervolt, no problem. overvolt? need a bit more time. just duno why it will crash ATI driver during windows boot

finished watching fringe sesion finale.

anyway, tested a couple of things, but still cant overvolt the vbios... anything over 1v, the atikmdag.sys will crash. i think this must be some kind of protective measure in the driver itself to prevent it to go higher... something like people softmod atikmdag.sys to get Firepro capability...

suppose it's possible to patch atikmdag.sys, but a better trick should be to change the DeviceID to make 5650->6550.... still need researching...
