I've been researching on the 3820 and 4820 for days, heres a good review of the 4820tg, http://www.notebookcheck.net/Review-Acer-A...ok.30281.0.html It says its one of the best notebooks to be able to play up to date games, at medium to high graphics with 2x/4x Anti-aliasing, Thus , it being a mid-high end gaming laptop . Unless your graphic crazy , this is the laptop for any average gamer . I , personally think the looks is staggering, almost perfect, if not for the black glossy trim along the LCD and keyboard. I'm still stuck in a dilemma between the 4820tg and the 3820tg , 4820tg being RM300 extra, with optical drive, 14" LCD , 2.2kg in weight and a Core i5 processor . I think i'll be buying the 4820tg , because of the core i5 proc , which seems to be on par with the Dell XPS 15 which costs 2999. I just hope the fan isnt a disappointment in the 4820tg, as long as it doesnt overheat or make a jet-like noise, i'm cool, cause my previous acer aspire laptop with a centrino duo , makes an annoying noise when the laptop gets hot , ( sounds like a grinder ) any 4820tg owners mind giving comments on the fan? |

im looking at the 3820tg for the smaller lcd screen and lighter. don't wanna carry a bulk everywhere i go, but the 2.2kg on the 4829tg is fine as well.
sigh sigh...actually im looking at a netbook, but in the end, i think netbook is not a good choice for an all rounder notebook? |

If you really must get a netbook, you should wait for the Fusion Zacate ones. They're comparable in performance to ION2 equipped netbooks - but still nowhere near the graphics performance you can get out of the 3820 or 4820. sigh sigh...actually im looking at a netbook, but in the end, i think netbook is not a good choice for an all rounder notebook? |

I find it incredible silent even under full load, but as usual, ymmv.although i dont mind the noise, but its an addition i could use i guess. Another thing is the processor, i heard it's upgrade-able? ( removable ) Yep, heard its upgradeable all the way to an i7-640M, but not sure how much performance gains you can milk out of it. |

Some basic comparison from 8600M GT (3dmark06=3000++) against 6550 (3dmark06=7000++) can be found here:here. With 8600M GT, i doubt you can play any recent game such as Darksiders, etc. Added on February 15, 2011, 10:31 pm QUOTE(guppy @ Feb 15 2011, 09:54 PM) I find it incredible silent even under full load, but as usual, ymmv. Agree. Some forks in notebookreview claim the overall system feel more responsive and things such as file copy, encoding is much faster.Yep, heard its upgradeable all the way to an i7-640M, but not sure how much performance gains you can milk out of it. i5-580 is a favorite upgrade due to it's OC potential This post has been edited by cowithgun: Feb 15 2011, 10:31 PM |
