not sure about the street price, but take into consideration on G15.
it should have better ISO performance and low noise output than G12.
But if you won't push it too hard on the camera, G12 is still amazing enough with the articulated screen for all sorts of angle shot!

sad.gif just checked out the G15 and I think the macro mode is nice, not like my G1-X with nonsense macro mode that isn't even a macro mode.

Hi, Im a new user of G1x and a newbie in photography.
Just wondering, is it necessary for me to get a filter for my G1x?

How much is the battery of the camera? ( Thought of getting an additional battery as back up. )

Can I just rely on the auto mode when shooting? smile.gif
[zero knowledge on aperture, iso, etc :-x ]

Anyone feel free to teach me?

it's not "necessary" to use filter, filter is just to improve the exposure/add some effect to the picture taken.
u can do the same in post processing too... is personal preference.
So far the battery is enough for me to last 1 day for casual trip shooting...
why not using the auto mode if you really have no idea to do the setting... police won't catch u... don worry tongue.gif
there's a lot of article in Lowyat forum which you can read out...

is there any method to shoot macro pictures rather than using the camera's auto macro mode?

i find that my g1x macro is kinda slack.

heard that for macro shooting, we can use a mounting and attach a close up lens to the body.
is it true?

how much will that cost?

what kinda slack? it's non-existent!!!

I use +4 close up lens. Hold the camera like SLR, left hand hold the close up filter right smack on the G1 X lens.

smile.gif If you use my method, you don't have to spend on Canon's close up filter for the G1 X already.
