Why not have a subsection for Premium Credit Cards and its requirements?

Eg:

CIMB & DA World Mastercard Visa Infinite Min Income Requirement: RM 200k
Maybank World Mastercard Min Income Requirement: RM 240k (By Invitation)
MBF World Mastercard Min Income Requirement: RM 200k (By Invitation)
Standard Chartered Visa Infinite: Only for Priority Banking customer (RM 250k in deposits)
RHB Visa Infinite: Strictly by Invitation
CIMB Enrich World Mastercard: Strictly by Invitation (those with card usage above RM 500k per annum may be considered)

any holders want to confirm on this?
whether it's by invitation only or open application?
*
I got mine by invitation since I was already their Visa Platinum cardholder and the annual fee's waived by virtue of being their private wealth management client. I asked the officer in Maybank TTDI he said the issuance of the card is on by invitation basis but, he however said, if you can prove that your earnings is more than RM 240k annually, they can recommend for you to get invited.

i've already updated it to open application, based on MBB website

For CIMB / DA World or VI, can you add the requirements to Min Income requirement of RM 200k or Existing HSBC Cardholder with CL RM 30k and above OR Citibank CL RM 50k and above OR Other banks RM 70k and above?

Thanks.

Huh ? HSBC with CL 30k above can be used as reference to apply for CIMB VI / WMC for 100k CL ? Hm... perhaps its rare cases ? i dont think this apply to everyone  hmm.gif  , AFAIK using card reference without submitting any proof of income usually will have CL increment by 5% - 20% from the card, mostly considered by credit exposure of the applicants. from 30k jump to 100k , there is quite a big gap.... hmm.gif
*
Yes this applies generally. Three of my friends got their CIMB VI/WMC by submitting HSBC Platinum CL 30k. If you're in the banking industry, it is general knowledge that CIMB is desperate to increase its credit card database thus granting high credit limit to many people even without having substantial deposit / facility with them. They are still far behind Maybank in terms of card membership.

As far as i know black listed by telco and bank are totally no related.

I was black listed by one of the telco since 1997 (till now) and was holding my first MBF classic card till now being upgraded and applying new card from Gold card to now Platinum card without any problem.

Do you think holding an UOB platinum card with 30k CL, is there any chances to get a Worldcard or Infinite card? If yes, which bank do you suggest?
Do you think CIMB chances are more higher as you say they are desperate to increase its credit card database?
*
tough one. for cimb visa infinite or world master, they require AT LEAST cl of 70k from UOB unless you submit full income documents!

out of curiosity, for a 23 y.o fresh grad who earns RM 2,500 monthly and applying for her first card, is RM 10,000 CL considered fair or high?

Wow RM 10k limit from MBB with monthly salary of RM 2.5k. I remembered MBB didn't give me that when I got my first CC from MBB with that level of salary 3 to 4 years ago.

I have a feeling my friend's case comes with very strong recommendation from the branch manager. her portfolio with maybank nothing much but her family banks with maybank big time. so maybe the branch manager makes the recommendation based on the fact of her background etc. by the way, the gave her three cards - mastercard gold, american express gold credit card these both combined CL 10k and american express green charge card.

you're right maybank is known to be stingy when it comes to CL.

I was in Pavilion KL today to do some shopping and I saw at least ten people paying for their purchases with either CIMB Visa Infinite or World Mastercard. Somehow, it's like a common sight that doesn't make both cards look exclusive anymore! Soon black will be the new platinum just like how platinum is the new gold! Mind you that also means having a minimum CL of 100k is so common these days!

I'm sorry if you feel this way. That's not the point of my post and frankly I don't even have such cards from CIMB.

why you want CL that high?

What if your card kene fraud.

RM100k gone.

High CL gives cardholder better flexibility especially if you travel a lot and high spender.

Fraud? Banks aren't that stupid and they are fair in dealing with this. So, no such thing as "I don't want high CL because takut kene fraud."

Speaking of frauds, I must say cards issued by the second largest bank in the country are prone to this. I was victim of this twice. People around me also feel the same.

CIMB Enrich World Mastercard will be more exclusive then since it is by invitation and card usage above RM 500k per annum.  drool.gif

Maybe one day classic card becomes exclusive as few people are holding it. tongue.gif

Did I say I applied? No right?

HSBC account that needs millions to open is HSBC Private Banking account with HSBC Private Bank. Nearest country that offers such service is Singapore. HSBC Malaysia doesn't offer private banking service here. You need at least US$3 Million just to qualify and you will need a referral to get into HSBC Private Bank. No open application allowed. Most existing HSBC Group customers will get invited into HSBC Private Bank when their total cash deposit with HSBC Group reach US$10 Million.
This is not the case. Someone I know picked up the phone and called HSBC Private Bank in Singapore enquiring to open an account without having existing accounts with HSBC prior to that. HSBC Private Bank promptly sent one of their "vice presidents" (which is a fancy term for a relationship manager or personal banker) to KL to meet him and within three days the account's opened. USD 1 m required.

Is this recent ? Because the bar has been set higher to US$3 Million. Since when i am not too sure though. And now you also need a referral to be a HSBC Private Bank customer. The one referring you to HSBC Private Bank could be an existing HSBC Private Bank customer or your Premier relationship manager.

Citi Private Bank on the other hand, requires a minimum liquid asset of US$10 Million.
*
Totally no referral. Just like I stated earlier, almost "walk in". He just called them and they were so keen for the business that they flew one VP to KL to explain and assist in the account opening. This was in September 2010.

HSBC Private Bank used to have an office in Menara Milenium Damansara Heights but closed down due to Bank Negara's restrictions on their product offerings. Citi Private Bank still has a small office in Menara Citibank Jalan Ampang. Not sure about the required amount to have an account there though.

It is a well known fact that cimb and standard chartered are extemely generous in granting Credit Limit even up to 10x monthly salary.

How about Maybank? What's your experience with it when it comes to Credit Limit? 2 x or 3 x monthly salary?

Guys, i just received my Citibank Cash Back VISA Platinum credit card today via Poslaju. I actually applied for CIMB Bank World MasterCard and OCBC Titanium MasterCard before this. Many of you already know about the CIMB Bank story so i'll just skip that part. OCBC rejected my application. No reason was given and they did not ask me to provide my income documents either. The OCBC Bank customer service officer i spoke to just told me my application is unsuccessful but i can try to reapply again 6 months later (which i definitely will).

Anyway, i was really fed up already but last week, i decided to try my luck again. This time with Citibank. OCBC Titanium MasterCard has always been my top pick but what to do, i was rejected so i had to move on and look for the next best card. I applied this card through an agent since there is no Citibank branch here in Kota Kinabalu. The application was submitted last Tuesday and i received the card just about an hour ago. Definitely very efficient of Citibank  rclxms.gif
Wow, meaning you got your card in a week! Not bad biggrin.gif

some normal cc can have Credit Limit up to RM50 k - RM300k

some users just choose normal credit visa card but have high CL rather than platinum or visa signature
*
usually a normal card's credit limit can only go as high as 10k for classic. for gold, nothing more than 100k. platinum and above, can even reach 1 mil.

again this is highly subjective. some would rather go for cash back benefits where as some would rather go for other benefits for example air miles even though this means they have to go for high end credit cards that provide best deals for them!
