IMO, I find that MBB's CC has lower forex rate than money changer's rate
*
this is correct and i'm speaking through experience. when travelling i normally carry three cards.

one from maybank one from cimb one from american express. maybank is the best followed by cimb and then only amex when it comes to foreign currency conversion.

yes, you can see the writing WORLD on the card even. i spoke to my relationship manager to confirm this already.

yes true. having said that i must say Standard Chartered is really "cheapening" the World Mastercard. Its preferred banking world mastercard has a starting limit of RM 15,000! what the hell! Where as other players like cimb, maybank and mbf has general starting credit limit of RM 100k onwards.

No. That is not true. The HSBC Premier MasterCard issued by HSBC Malaysia is not a World MasterCard. HSBC has a standardized design for all its Premier MasterCard which is why the word "world" is also printed on the card where they do not actually offer a World MasterCard. The HSBC Group only issues World Premier MasterCard in USA, Japan and Australia to date. They only offer a regular Premier MasterCard in the rest of the countries.
*
I beg to differ. Like I mentioned earlier, the word WORLD is stated on the card and I received confirmation from the HSBC Premier Relationship Manager with regards to this. To double confirm I called mastercard international too as I mentioned to them that the word WORLD on the card is merely part of the design. According to mastercard even, they have strict guideline when it comes to card designs and they do not easily approve designs which are misleading (eg. stating the word WORLD when it is not a WMC).

If standard design were to be the excuse, can you imagine X Bank writing the word INFINITE on its card when the card is actually a Visa Classic just because it's "standardized design"? I don't think so. Visa would be livid if it were to discover this. I have seen myself the same purple HSBC Premier Mastercard issued in certain countries without the word WORLD printed on it.

Anyone of experienced working in banking field staff here tell me whether i can apply other credit card from CIMB or Standard Chartered or Maybank with my existing Eon Bank credit card with RM4,500 credit limit. I am currently using my Eon bank credit card for 2 months only...

My question is, can i apply for other bank credit card although my Eon Bank credit card is not more than 1 year old?

Thanks!
*
One year at least if you're using your Eon Bank card to apply. If submit full income document, then go ahead without having to wait for one year!

But sometimes you do know these bank employees do not understand their card product very well right ? HSBC Group released a statement a year or two ago that USA is the first country where it offers a World MasterCard follow by Japan and Australia. They do plan to roll this card out in all other countries but thus far there is no news on this. Australia was the last addition to their list of country that offers World MasterCard from the HSBC Group, if my memory serves me correctly.

And yes, HSBC Holdings has indeed signed up to offer World MasterCard from MasterCard Worldwide but Malaysia is not yet in the list it is offering this type of card.

You're implying both hsbc employee and mastercard staff are oblivious to this? I can't discount that though given customer service at hsbc these days aren't as good as they were during Partner days!

Let's stop the bickering about HSBC's WMC shall we ?
I used to hold the HSBC Premier card myself and I can confirm that even my RM has no idea about the WorldCard status.

Still card design is not worth mentioning. Even the HSBC's classic card design is much more interesting than HSBC's Premier MC. Not to mention despite the so called premier status ... this card is nothing less than a hyped up HSBC Platinum card. I'd rather hold the Platinum

Explain "hyped up"?

Argh ... the VISA Platinum. Asked if it is possible for a Premier customer to get this card instead of the Premier MasterCard but was told it is not possible. They said even if a Premier customer requests for a Gold credit card, he or she will either have to pledge a time deposit account or apply using the normal route which is to submit your application with your salary slips.
*
Dad got his Premier Mastercard when they converted his Partner account to Premier. Not even a month after getting the Premier Mastercard he called up and requested for the Visa Platinum. They sent it to him, no questions asked. How come?

Let say i apply and my credit card approved using Fixed deposit pledged, after 1 year , i use my current card(approved via FD) to apply for other bank's credit card, will the bank know/check out my existing card approved because of i'm using fixed deposit?

Will the bank approve my other credit card because of my current card using fixed deposit?  rclxub.gif

Someone experienced in banking profession field clarify please,

Thank you!
*
When the other banks are processing your application, when they view your CCRIS, they can see your existing credit card is secured by a collateral - in your case fixed deposit certs. However, it is entirely up to their discretion to approve your application or otherwise.

To get RHB VI, as far as FD is concern I was told need min USD100K equivalent, with exchange rate now at 3.1 only need RM310K in FD. However there is an annual fee of RM1K for RHB VI. With RM300K in FD, better go deposit with another bank and earn extra interst of RM1,950 when comparing to present FD rate of 3.35% for a year at RHB.
I wish this is true but even with FD of RM 1mil in RHB Premier Banking, there is no way you can assure yourself they'd offer you the VI.

I received my MBF World Mastercard just now. Talk about efficient! I called them to inform that I accept their offer (since they offer perpetual annual fee waiver) only this morning. The fastest so far! Not even 12 hours!

thinking of apply credit card. i'm 25 years old. got 2 houses and 1 car under my name. but still i don't use credit card. so far i'm good in manage all my finacial! thinking of apply 1 so i can get rewards or watsoever point when i shop, paying bills, petrol... which 1 to recommend? but i already got bonus link to pump at shell...
*
wow quite a bit for a 25 year old. sounds like heavy commitment but all boils down to your monthly income.

may i know your salary is credited to which bank? if maybank or public bank, can get the bank branch manager to give you preapproved since your ccris will show high credit exposure with your existing commitments..

my salary paid out at maybank. i got car loan account on maybank also.
but my saving account is in cimb. housing loan also cimb. monthly salary is about 3k. i never late paying for my house & car loan. very good record. Now i confuse of which bank to apply CC.. or which bank offers the best rewards. any suggestion?
*
ok easy, go to your maybank home branch where you maintain your account and request them to give you pre-approved credit card on the grounds that your salary is credited to your maybank account every month. this way, you can be almost sure that you will get the card despite the heavy commitments. i recommend for you to go for american express gold credit card. low annual interest rate and fast membership rewards points!

I received a phone call from Maybank today offering me personal loan of RM 100,000 without having to submit documents. Is Maybank following Citibank's trend to cross sell personal loans and other products to existing credit card holders?

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

To Maybank credit card holders, please be cautious if you receive calls from anyone claiming to be from 'Zing Touch n Go Club' offering numerous dubious privileges. These are fraudsters! They would ask for your credit card details over the phone. All of my friends who recently got their maybank credit cards received these calls.

Supposedly so but not the one offered by Citibank. The salary required is RM40k lower than their generic Platinum credit card.

that's why. i am aware of this too.

It should be noted that the charge for foreign transaction using HSBC MasterCard is pretty high ...

[attachmentid=1889532]

Probably it's time to get a Maybank credit card ...
*
I think so too. I have been using cards from many banks prior to this but choose to stick to Maybank World Mastercard for the good conversion rate it provides when spending abroad.
