want to ask, is the Maybank Petronas Visa card reward treat points when spending on other shops, on a 1 point per ringgit basis?
5 Treatpoints for every RM1 charged to your card when you pump fuel at all Petronas stations and 1 Treatpoint for all other transactions.

currently i'm working in brunei, thinking of getting a cc from maybank/hsbc/standard chartered from malaysia.
the thing is does any of these banks lias between brunei and malaysia?
and can i swipe the card here in brunei using bank loan 12/24mths?
brunei banks doesn't really issue cc now

you're in brunei as well?? the thing i heard from my admin is that you have to deposit a certain amount of money to the bank, and the amount would be used as you're limit right? which makes the whole credit card sounded like a debit.
would prefer to get a cc back in malaysia, just don't know if can lias between both countries
meaning to say, i put my salary in brunei, both country shares it, when i swipe my card, it'll directly deducted from the account. is it possible? would likely avoid exchange rate sad.gif
No. I'm not in Brunei. From what i understand is that you can apply for a credit card without collateral. This is what my friend told me before two years ago before he left for Singapore due to higher salary and better future prospect in Singapore.

Anyway, you can try to contact HSBC Brunei. I read from their website that you need to earn only BND800/month to be eligible for their classic credit card. Go give it a try smile.gif

QUOTE(chemistry @ Dec 8 2010, 01:46 PM)
Yup, Business Visa also got RM188.
It's just not applicable to "Principal Classic / Titanium / Preferred World MasterCard / Visa Infinite".

so take the platinum?
Is your Citibank Platinum credit card sparking the new design ? I saw a Citibank advertisement on the newspaper last week and it seems that they have adopted a new design for their normal platinum series credit card. I am just wondering sweat.gif

QUOTE(finecut @ Dec 8 2010, 05:18 PM)
maybe i should biggrin.gif
what if i wanna use a malaysia's credit card instead of brunei? well i'm not going to stay here for long... can the my account link to the bank in brunei, lets say HSBC?
Link ? What do you mean ? Every time you use your Malaysian credit card there, you will loss in forex.

QUOTE(finecut @ Dec 8 2010, 05:18 PM)
and can i use malaysian cc to buy stuff in brunei using bank loan?
After you buy the things you wanted, i believe you can convert the charges to an installment plan but it is subject to bank's approval and the interest rate is quite high too.

This is a different promotion. It runs from 1 Dec 2010 - 15 Jan 2011 and no registration required.

my current citibank gold also is not free
have to call every year to waive
citibank will never gipe free for life cars unlike some otherbanks
now i am not sure about the  current platinum...dunno whether they will waive the fees every yr by request
Hopefully they will make it something like 12 minimum swipe within a year to get the annual fee automatically waived à la HSBC.

Bank direct debit is much better. You do not have to pay the stupid convenience fee biggrin.gif

is cimb e.mastercard good ? i know this is out of topic, but i just want a debit card just to avoid stupid airasia convenience fee
You still have to pay for the convenience fee if you pay using a debit card. Therefore, the CIMB e.MasterCard won't help solving your problem.

What you need to do is to enroll for online banking and pay using direct debit. This way you won't have to pay for the convenience fee. However, please note that only direct debit from these 5 banks are supported for the time being. The 5 banks are :
- Maybank
- CIMB Bank
- Public Bank
- AMBank
- Bank Rakyat

Did any of you check your CCRIS lately ? I just went to BNM to print my latest CCRIS and found out the last 4-digit of my HSBC credit card is wrong. The Citibank one however, is correct.

I also just went to BNM this morning to print out my CCRIS report and same as you, my HSBC last 8 digits different. Also noted that HLB account number is like 22 digits and Alliance 8 digits  blink.gif
Yeah ... i am wondering why ... hmm.gif

Anyway, i was also wondering if they will list out all the rejected applications in our CCRIS because from what i can see in the copy of my CCRIS, it listed only 4 applications all of which have been approved by the respective banks. 2 from HSBC and another 2 from Citibank. The second card from Citibank was approve just this morning rclxms.gif

his credit limit is RM 4k... but he wanna purchase something which is Rm7k..

my question is how if he pay another RM3k to his credit card, thus this will make available limit RM4k + Rm3k = RM7k ? Possible?

Yes. It is possible with Maybank and CIMB Bank. Done this before 2 years ago. So i'd assume it's the same with other banks.

QUOTE(persistence85 @ Dec 9 2010, 07:16 PM)
Hmm.. i was informed by other bank under fixed deposit pledge credit card can apply for other bank's credit card after using 1 year.. wonder if that's true or not?
Not sure about this. But one thing for sure is that other banks will be able to know the credit card is secured by FD. Credit card is an unsecured lending business. Therefore, other banks might be reluctant to offer you a credit card if you apply using an existing secured credit card.

What are the 3 cards are you currently holding ?

QUOTE(ahdi87 @ Dec 9 2010, 10:13 PM)
PBB mentioned that is 6% for 24months to pay back all, but i think i need to go there again and fully understand it. No problem, i want to but a high level Digital SLR camera body only which is costing 6k and a lens 1k. And i wanna pay by installment, but shop are allowing 12month installment so i try to ask some installment plan from bank. For my salary now i can take out RM400 ~ RM600 so i calculate i can afford for 24months installment. But if i take 12months installment they need me to pay around RM500+ so that i cannot make a saving for every month, for 24months installment i can make some saving and also backup for emergency. cry.gif
You are putting a huge strain on your financial position. How about this ? Putting your plan on hold first and buy it a year later ? The DSLR is not going anywhere.

QUOTE(AhNiCk @ Dec 9 2010, 10:30 PM)
hi guys! just wanna know.......

i just graduated and started working last month with the salary of <2k per month, can anyone suggest me a CC that doesn't require any annual fee or hidden cost?
CIMB Bank MasterCard.

QUOTE(AhNiCk @ Dec 9 2010, 10:30 PM)
i plan to buy a DSLR which cost RM4000  brows.gif with 12/24 months 0% easy payment scheme.. is it possible for me to pay 333.33 every month for 12 months ?
Only if that particular shop if you going to buy the DSLR from is offering 0% IPP and your credit card is on the 0% IPP supported list.

By the way, you'll have to pay RM333.34/month instead of RM333.33/month, assume you can get the 0% IPP for 12-month.

Anyway, you just graduate and you do not even own your first credit card yet. Do you really think it is worth it to buy a RM4,000 DLSR ? I know owning a DSLR is like the latest fashion trend now but seriously, i don't think it is wise to buy it if you can't really afford it now. Just my RM0.02.

Just to share my some info here.
Recently did a transaction / same merchant (but not the same amount) on the same date using SCB and MBB cards.

Transaction Date 8-12-10. Posted Date 9-12-10
SCB report US->MYR rate to be 3.21
MBB report US->MYR rate to be 3.18
I booked a hotel room using my HSBC MasterCard through Expedia on 8/12/10. Payment was also posted on the same day.

HSBC MasterCard
- USD to MYR = 3.2188

At least Standard Chartered Bank is giving you extra Choice Points for transactions done in foreign currency unlike HSBC cry.gif

Which part of East Malaysia are you in ? There is one Bank Negara office in Kota Kinabalu.

In this case, does Amex card without maybank's logo falls under the same category? Eg: Amex gold CC, or green charge card etc..
The answer can be found in the first page of this thread.

Or Amex have their own forex rate?
Yes. The foreign exchange rate is determined by AMEX.
