some of the current linux reminds me of the win98 days.
still quite lean still quite fast still have to do alot of things manually to get it working right and there is an order to install things so they work. though with ubuntu it gives me the mac feeling....it just works. though i am unable to fix my keys getting sticky at random times |

QUOTE(fastcx @ Sep 10 2008, 12:59 AM) u sure its mounted? my windows partition was beyond repair so was my linux.Added on September 10, 2008, 1:02 am did u mess around with your partition? cause its error for MBR...did u add in another hdd that have other bootloader? it will cause that error both booting like snail. so i thought i just use the recovery cd to recover windows. then reinstall linux on top. however GRUB is still persistent after windows recovery. |

QUOTE(fastcx @ Sep 11 2008, 02:48 AM) haha bow is not needed, im not dead yet a normal format won't fix? another thing, there is no need to type in "iocharset=utf8", just use utf8 will be suffice. refer to the code i posted we just glad to help, that is what linux about! community! Cheers! Added on September 11, 2008, 2:53 am what recovery cd does is just to restore your hdd image to factory setting, it does not affect MBR. for that, perhaps this can help, give it a try! http://users.bigpond.net.au/hermanzone/Sup...ubDiskPage.html if this dont help, post here again, i'll give u another solution, or u can search online as well, its call zero fill Cheers! |

QUOTE(fastcx @ Sep 12 2008, 03:59 AM) bios? u mean low level format? basically, delete all previous partition table will be suffice. but did u tried windows recovery console?u can use any windows xp installation cd to boot in. when asked whether u wan2 do recovery or install, press "R" for recovery console, once u done that, select your windows installation. gotta cari my lanun cds once ur in recovery console, type in fixmbr and confirm your command with Y. above solution should b able to reinstall mbr for your windows to boot |

QUOTE(fastcx @ Sep 13 2008, 04:46 AM) the word powerpack tells me its bloated well it still isn't as naggy as microsoft.i had to change my mom's computer from ubuntu to windows xp. after the change she asked me why this one so difficult to use, so many warnings, always needs update, etc etc. yeah ubuntu just works without too much nags and warnings. but unfortunately i couldn't get the AIO printer to work with ubuntu which is why i changed |
