any of u guys been to ff avenue k?
you've never been to a ghetto gym till u get ur ass to ff avenue k
i've been to ill equipped gym and felt more at home than being at the newly situated ff (moved from maxis to avenue k)

u know how large the weight room is?
its a size of 2 average bed rooms in a medium sized apartment
and ur sharing about 7-8 benches (including fixed flat and incline bench) and 3 dumbbell racks (not taking into account huge guys doing their stuff there)
and ur next to the bodyweight areas and the cable crossovers and stuff

i was damn angry and asked the managers there what happened
they said "the management gave it a thought and decided that ff is aiming for 'fit' and not 'muscular',"

now thats bullseye for business acumen
stupid sh*t!

oh well no use complaining though
now gotta go to the curve and play

QUOTE(arekey @ Dec 28 2010, 06:53 PM)
The Growth Phase occurs for up to six hours after training, assuming that you depleted at least 70% of your glycogen reserves
during your workout. During the Growth Phase it is important to continue to feed with carbohydrates and
proteins but like the Energy and Anabolic Phases. These meals
should consist of real foods since your body is moving back towards
normal functioning as that anabolic window closes. Basically the period of time
for muscle growth is diminishing since insulin sensitivity is taking a vacation until your
next workout, and you will have to part ways with your good friends Testosterone and
Growth Hormone for a little while.
Considering this change back to ‘normalcy’ it is important that our high-glycemic sugary
foods and rapidly digesting protein super heroes who stole the show in our Energy
and Anabolic Phases are now the arch enemy during the Growth Phase. These liquid
drinks provide a huge, muscle-building insulin surge so they are beneficial during and
after the workout but raising your insulin levels at other times of the day will instantly
reward you a fine pot belly!

The Recovery Phase will encompass everything you eat during the rest of the day.
After we eliminate 8-9 hours for sleep and 7-8 hours for the Energy, Anabolic and
Growth Phases there are 8-9 more hours in the day which will make up your last three
meals. These are the meals that are considered the Recovery Phase.
How you eat during this period is highly individualized.
*
hang on
just wanna make some enquiry

if during growth phase, the high GI and protein shakes are enemies, then why do we get to see bodybuilders taking whey shakes for supper or as snacks even hours after working out?

and for the last para, it was mentioned that the rest of the 3 meals are the recovery phase. i assume this is breakfast, lunch and dinner or?

QUOTE(arekey @ Feb 23 2011, 08:04 AM)
Hello Iron Brutha

I happen to buy UN Animal M-Stak from egonutrition.
After having 2 serving, i've notice that it's contain gelatin

Already email to universal nutrition and this is what i've got
I hope should be more concerned for muslim buyer like GNC.
GNC told the muslim buyer that Hydroxycut (Pill Version ) is not halal.

I wanna let go this UN Animal M-Stak to non muslim iron brutha for RM100 (19 Serving left)

PM me if anyone interested.

i've asked scivation on their whey (its the only whey i use), mark lobliner replied the whey is halal (posted here last year or 2 years back)
im gonna ask BSN on their lean dessert cuz im using it as MRP (prefer solution 5 but egonutritions is really really slow in restocking items...no offense meant)

i would like to remind the muslim bodybuilders on the halal issue

as usual, i've emailed scivation for the 2nd time and they have confirmed that their products met the requirements of halal despite lacking a certificate
also i am disappointed that they have discontinued solution 5

however, i've emailed BSN and here's their reply:

Note:

i) i've changed my name to gtoforce (Saje tanak kasi tau nama sebenar)
ii) the email is arranged according to the most recent conversation

gtoforce,

Thank you again,

Endoburn, Thermonex, atrophex and cheaters relief are all in a gelatin capsule pill. Most of the gelatin is from bovine but could also come from porcine, these items might be a concern for you.

Nitrix, and Epozine are in a hard tablets so these items should not be a concern for you.

Please, as always feel free to contact me directly with any other questions or concerns..

have a great Day,

Sincerely,

dear Brian,

i appreciate your reply in such short notice and i thank you for listing down
the products which are derived from specific sources.

the easiest definition of halal is:

i) the food item must not come from swine or dogs in any form whatsoever.

ii) if the item is derived from meat sources such as bovine or chicken (other
than fish), the meat / beef must be slaughtered under the methods approved by
our scriptures. in such situations, gelatin used in products must come from an
animal which is slaughtered as above.

however, in the case of whey and bodybuilding supplements which contain sources
from eggs, milk are halal because they are not extracted from dead animals.

getting back to your email below, i believe syntha 6, lean dessert and true mass
is OK. however, im aware gelatin is used by some companies to manufacture pills.
If BSN could probably confirm that its products use gelatin derived pills, im
sure i could post this in our forums just to create awareness.

i appreciate your kind consideration to our enquiries and we are more than
grateful to buy more BSN products (the range of which is very limited in
malaysia).

Thank you and kind regards,

gtoforce

gtoforce,

Thank you for all the support. As you know BSN has a full range of products. I have read online some of the definitions of Halal. I will explain some of the products that might be a concern for you.

Syntha-6, Lean Dessert Protein, and Truemass all contain different types of Whey protein. Whey is derived from cheese that comes from cows milk, I believe this is O.K.

Endoburn, Thermonex, atrophex and cheaters relief are pills in a gelatin capsule. Most of the gelatin is from bovine but could also come from porcine, these items might be a concern for you.

I have found different degrees of "halal" definitions online. Please feel free to email me back any specific questions that you might have...

have a great day and thank you again for using BSN.

hey there BSN

im a BSN fan here all the way from Malaysia and have an enquiry to make on behalf of the muslim bodybuilders here.

BSN is really famous here in malaysia along with other brands such as muscletech and universal nutrition. Most of us here use True Mass, Syntha 6 and Lean Dessert in our day to day nutritional intake. However, some of us are curious if your products are halal.

We would appreciate if you could enlighten us on the issue above in short notice.

Thank you and have a good day

imo, since most of the bb products are from the states, it's hard to tell whether they r halal or not (even if they say it's technically halal). So best option is use logical thinking to explain whether the supplements are halal rather than trying to hope the brand would carry a halal sign one day...
*
agreed
kalau glutamine or bcaa powders no need to think also tau halal
but those in pills memang susah la

tips on buying whey or other bb supplements

the simpler they are, the less chances iys gonna be hoax
like scivation, ON, dymatize, weider or even cytosport whey all are basics
read the ingredients to find out its nutrient profile like content of whey protein isolates, bcaa, glutamine peptides etc
my favorite has always been scivation bcoz others tend to have more carbs

I personally think it's easier for a fat guy to look massive, than for a skinny guy to slowly build up mass
*
Nope
Totally disagreed
Lean guys no need to think about fat intake that much
Easier for them to rely on carbs to fuel

QUOTE(pedro @ Feb 28 2011, 07:56 PM)
Fat guy here!

Its easy to look massive with a hanging gut,it ain't easy to be massive and lean.

Hey pedro
U read anything on ketosis?
Ive been into it for quite sometime and thought that its a lot more practical than carb cycle
But just wanna know if carbs in milk should be taken into account
I know i dont count carbs in greens like brokoli though
Haha

Also, my goal is as approved by terry, 2200 kcal per day and carb intake is 5% of my calorie intake
Its correct la kan if 5% out of 2200 is 110 and given 1 gram of carb = 4 calorie
That means my carb intake is 110 kcal/4 =27g of carbs per day la kan?

Actually I was on ketogenic diet for about a year, works great, only problem I got was when I decided to change diets, any amount of carbs would make me bloat.

Btw I limited my carb intake to the minimal, only from veggies/milk/cheese.
*
but doesnt milk contains a lot of carbs per cup (250ml) even for skimmed milk?
