Does squatting and deadlifting hits the same muscle group? i tried to do these both back to back but just to tired after the squats... what if i do squats on day 1 and deadlift on day 2? acceptable?
*
I wouldn't say it hits the same muscle group as both are compound lifts, but some muscle groups do overlap.
I usually split up my squats and deadlift to be on different days as I put squats on leg day and deadlifts on back day. I find that if I put them together, I'm perilously close to wiping the floor with my face at the end.

Anabol thread went from Flame to Closed in just under 2 hours. Pretty quick. Is it our culture to think there is a shortcut for everything?

I wouldn't lump juicing under the same boat as the public perception of doing drugs, there is still a difference between the two. For me, there should be years of foundation building and a whole lot of knowledge acquired before choosing to cross that bridge. Anyhow, enough on that touchy subject.

From the way you structured your question, I don't suppose you mean spotter but someone to help you getting each rep off? I've never had anyone assist each rep from the get go but I have utilize negative reps where my spotter would help me on the lift and I would focus on the lowering portion.

Please enlighten me if there is, but I don't see a benefit to having a spotter assist the liftoff of each rep from the start if it isn't negatives. If it is on the final reps, then spotter assist is normal to squeeze everything out of the muscle. Well, the only benefit I see is more ego based which is lifting more weight than usual.

I was never anti steroids, just pro natural. You guys should see Bigger Faster Stronger specifically for bodybuilders and strength trainees. Enlightening. Just be responsible when starting anything. Years of solid lifting and building a strong foundation is needed first. Too many people are oft to label themselves as hardgainers when they're just undertraining and undereating. Steroids are only a small part of the equation when looking at an impressive physique. I've seen how juicers train at my gym at TF and they go balls to the wall. I join them for sessions often. We're doing 60-70kg barbell curls for reps, 55-65lbs for dumbbell flyes. That's insane training, not many of the average fitness buff want to push themselves to that extent and wonder why they aren't growing day in day out.
*
Watched Bigger Faster Stronger a while back, and it really did bust the myth of public perception of steroids. I won't spoil it for those who have yet to watch, but it'll probably give you a new angle when looking at it.

Those are incredible training numbers you're putting up.

Edited in :

This is a first. I caught someone using one of the benches to....eat KFC. The aroma is distracting, grrrr.

The dehydration also strains your kidneys and puts stress on your heart.

This runs on the assumption we let ourselves dehydrate when consuming protein.

You can listen to those who probably sit all day in a lab, and the heaviest thing they would ever lift is their fingers, or those people who dedicate their time to lifting and eating.

'Adding more protein but not more calories or exercise to your diet won't help you build more muscle mass, but it may put your other bodily systems under stress.
Eating more protein and increasing total caloric intake while maintaining the same exercise level will build an equal amount of additional fat and muscle mass, according to a study published in 1992 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.'
That study is 18 years old, i won't put too much weight on that.
*
I highlighted what I thought were the important points in shiloong's post.
It looks like this study was meant for the people not frequenting this forum.

Lol True Fitness Section 14 has my respect in this case then. We're throwing around old school style T-bar rows for 6-8 plates on average and we slam them down, as in really slam them down after the last rep and no one complains cos staff  there appreciates hard training. It's getting a reputation to be a pretty hardcore place although there're still a lot of idiots hanging around there doing crappy stuff.
*
Maybe someone did complain, the person came over and saw the guys throwing the weights...and went back to the counter. I've seen it happen before at my previous gym.

This promotion is not advertised. So not many people knows.
All ELP items with the yellow VIP price tags are 30% off til end of Dec: BSN, muscletech, ON Whey 10lbs all also 30% off.
Well, the discount is obviously for members only lah. I think you can't find ON whey anywhere cheaper in these 3 weeks. LOL!

Oh, if you are in Cheras, please go buy in GNC Leisure Mall.
*
Just got back from GNC. The 30% off is from normal price, not member price. So factored in, it's a little bit cheaper than the yellow VIP price tags.
Still, a buck saved is still a buck I can use another day. Reloaded on Syntha-6.

yup. just ask a few sellers here.
i think myofusion beats syntha-6 hands down.
in terms of price, taste and protein content.
*
janson,

I have not tried Myofusion before. I assume you have tried both.
I did some research on it and it seems there is an assumption Myofusion is largely made up of whey because it doesn't keep you filled as long as Syntha-6 and is less creamy. Because of this faster digestion, there are subjective opinions that Myofusion has more fast digesting proteins and Syntha-6 has more of the expensive slow digesting proteins. As with all blends, I expect the ratio of fast to slow proteins to differ from brand to brand. If this is indeed true, I can see why Syntha-6 is more expensive. What is your experience on it?

I take blends prebed so I'm looking for a higher content of slow-digesting proteins like casein in it.

Myofusion, Syntha 6 and Nutrex Black Infusion are all very good. Less analyzing, more overeating. =P My sis is using Syntha 6, I'm using Myofusion and Muscle Infusion. They're both fine.

Ditto that.
Gonna train for broke these couple of months, wife is due to deliver early next year. Give me the strength to lift when I have to change diapers at 3 am!

I just went CNY clothes shopping today and I realized I can't buy any shorts that fits my waist anymore. My waist is size 34 but I had to buy a size 38- 40 to fit my thighs. Anyone has this problem? And where sells nice pants/ jeans that are plus sized? Thx! smile.gif
*
How about getting a tailor to make the pants for you? I usually tailor make my work pants, better overall fit.

CNY came at a good time for me. Fell sick and I guess it was partly due to burnout so that one week break is a great time to relax, recharge and binge a little.

hey all just to ask some variations of bent-over barbell row
i just slightly bend, pull to the lower waist and i feel my armpit down there is pulling
some big guy correct me should be bend at least 45 degree, then pull until upper abs if i am focusing for upperback, but for this i hardly feel the stretch of back muscles and more strain to lower back instead

need some correction, too much variations out there
*
I highlighted the important part. When doing the bent-over barbell row, you need to be..well, bent over. Think of the movement as a reverse bench press.

When you only slightly bend, it's more of an upright barbell row than a bent-over barbell row so you'll be hitting the wrong muscle group. I suspect the reason you're feeling the strain to the lower back when in a bent-over position is because you're rounding your back. Bend at the hips, keep your back straight.

Do you guys think having nitric oxide (like superpump, jack3d etc) and intraworkout drinks (xtend, purple wraath, size on etc) gives enough creatine or separate creatine consumption is required?
*
I don't know the exact amount of creatine in it as it's hidden behind the shield that is 'propriety blend', so I have separate creatine consumption.
