For me to do squats is a bit tricky, i dont have a squat rack so i utilize my benchpress-bench instead. What i do is to stand behind the bench with the barbell and weights already in place, then i squat down to position the barbell onto my shoulders > lift > step back > begin squatting.

Btw how heavy do ppl around my stats squat? Or rather how heavy do you all squat? Just wana use the information as a benchmark to see how i am stacking up..
*
how much a guy weights doesnt matter in regards to how much weight he can squat.
however, for me a good benchmark would be to bench press/squat your bodyweight.

Please don't take any offense Jon, and this definitely isn't targeted at you specifically, it's just that I don't understand why do people slack off the lifestyle sometimes for no reason unless it's a personal crisis, serious injury or an extremely time consuming commitment. I know some guys I train with who have worse work hours than me (and when this statement comes from someone of my profession, that's means nasty work hours) but are still insanely dedicated to the lifestyle.

Maybe I'm looking at it from a skewed POV, I've been guilty of slacking a few times in my life ever since I've taken up the sport but never on extended periods. I might never compete but it's something that'll stay with me through life.
*
from what i can see from my gym, people come and go all the time. its the ones who are really into it that stays. hence you get to know some real great guys. if you're into it, you are, and if you're not, well you would know after a few sessions. laugh.gif

no offense to anyone either, just stating out an opinion.

I dont have a leg day, chest/shoulders days , arms day, and the third day is when i do all compound exercises. Guess i have to find time to squeeze in the deadlift.

Deadlift + squats back to back = my death  shocking.gif
*
if possible try to put as many days in between squats and deadlifts.

Anabol thread went from Flame to Closed in just under 2 hours. Pretty quick. Is it our culture to think there is a shortcut for everything?
*
he closed it himself. no comments on anabols though, dont know enough to say anything. i DO know i would never juice. dont do drugs and never would.

a question guys. is it a good idea to have someone to give you a lift off from a starting position of an exercise? i find myself not being able to go heavier than what i currently can handle without some assistance. do you guys do it?

I think what he meant is probably the starting position which doesnt count as a rep. I thinks its okay to have a spotter to help your way in the starting position when it is quite heavy so that you can continue the following reps on your own.
*
what he said.

usually spotter would help me on the last 2-3 sets. imo no point for someone to help you with every rep. might as well take a lighter weight and do it yourself. at least now i feel less guilty when asking someone to help me heh. thanks guys!

edit: 2-3 REPS. im drunk, sorry >.<

All ELP items with the yellow VIP price tags are 30% off til end of Dec: BSN, muscletech, ON Whey 10lbs all also 30% off.
Well, the discount is obviously for members only lah. I think you can't find ON whey anywhere cheaper in these 3 weeks. LOL!

Oh, if you are in Cheras, please go buy in GNC Leisure Mall.

first taken creatine about 2 months ago, and i can see the effects in terms of strength. combined with coffee i do perform better on days where i feel sluggish. strength is up as well. i went to the loading phase (7 days, 20g a day) and 5g creatine pre and post workout. and yeah, its very dehydrating after consuming even 5g. i find myself chugging down water constantly during and after workouts.

Some say that coffee is packed with anti-oxidants etc etc etc. Coffee is a staple thing in my diet, heck the first thing i do when i get up in the morning is grind my coffee beans. But I'm a caffeine junkie so I consume more caffeine just to keep myself on the ball.
*
same here man, i drink at least 2-3 cups of coffee every day. and theCrab, at least have something to eat post workout. my workout timing is similar to yours and if i didnt have anything to eat before i get to bed i would be absolutely STARVING when i wake up the next day. not a good thing in my books.

imo, all boils down to why you're lifting in the first place. if you're lifting to impress the girl, then by all means do what she says. but i kinda doubt thats your reason right? smile.gif
