dear sifu-s,

would you all know which outlets still stocks the Seiko Automatic SRP 029 (or any colorway within that series?

thanks.
I think that's still widely available. Not sure where you're from but I saw it in shops in Sg Wang, saw it at MidValley, guess most Seiko shops in major shopping centres should have it. Saw it last week in Selayang Mall.

thanks. i went for a survey and yes, i will have to increase my budget abit.

am intrested in one of those with nylon strap but the straps are small (around 20mm nia). i'm looking for a bigger strap coz small strap looks funny on my hand.

any idea on those with bigger nylon straps?
20mm? Perhaps you looked at the smaller 38mm models? I used to own a SNZG15 and the dimension was 42mm, lug was 22mm. 22mm strap is quite standard for a lot of watches.

As you can see from the photo above, the strap has quite a presence.

looks gorgeous!!!

can i change it to nato strap or steel bracelets?

if can, i will definitely get one.

ps : how much does the watch cost? and roughly how much if i were to change to the above mentioned strap?

thanks adrian. you da man!  notworthy.gif
Nato straps definitely can. Most watches will be able to take nato straps except for those with integrated lugs like the Sportura series.
For bracelet it's best that you get the watch on bracelet coz I'm not sure if u can get aftermarket bracelet for the SNZGxx series. Perhaps highwind can give you the model no. since he has one on bracelet.

As for the price I really can't remember. I got it from virustar's shop in Penang while I was on holiday there earlier in the year. Bought a few watches from Penang so can't really recall the price for each. I do know I sold it for just RM250 to a forum member here so it must have been below RM400.

QUOTE(highwind85 @ Dec 5 2010, 10:37 PM)
there is bracelet version...i have the ion-plated version...
Oh yeah, the ion-plated version is really nice. I saw photos over at WUS.

QUOTE(raul88 @ Dec 5 2010, 10:54 PM)
how much thsi one cost?
Can't remember but it should be below RM400. Read my reply to winning11 above.

Anybody here have any of the shrouded divers?
One of the more affordable ones is the Franken Monster. One of my personal favourites. Sold this orange one recently to a member on this Seiko thread.

Still have the Tuna though.

I'm buying SBDX011, but that is if and only if I become a commercial diver next year.

Where you source that JDM Seiko? SeiyaJapan or Higuchi?
I got my Emperor Tuna (SBDX011) pre-owned but all my brand new JDMs come from Higuchi. But Seiya's great as well. It really boils down to which one offers the best price. Service is comparable.

Note if you're paying by credit card and not paypal, expect to pay more than the price in YEN that they quote you. Your bank will charge you interest and pay them immediately but there are often difference that you have to pay due to currency fluctuation on the posting date. From my experience, the banks always choose a day when the YEN has risen for the posting. The most expensive that I had to pay to the bank was about RM160, that's not to Higuchi but to the bank. mad.gif

I don't know any Seiko specific promotion going on now. However, I saw 25% off from some shops around KL.

Man since I got my SKX007 I stop hunting around already. Literally, the watch completes me. I bring it everywhere. I bring to swimming, diving, shitting and pissing, eating, repairing engines, maintaining compressors, pulling wires, changing oils.

Sleeping only I take it off.
That's great man. That's the way it should be. thumbup.gif

QUOTE(cngi @ Dec 8 2010, 02:22 PM)
good....i still hunting..
yup, seeing 25% off now.Wonder it last how long..and any more superb sales in year end.. biggrin.gif
With Seiko you don't really need any promotion period. 25% is well within the discounts that they can offer. Even without promotions, 25% is quite standard. Try walking into City Chain when there's no sales and stand in front of the Seiko display. Stand long enough and the sales person will automatically open his mouth to offer you 25% discount (unless its Seiko5). tongue.gif

You can also get more discounts at smaller name shops that carry Seiko like those in Sg. Wang. Another option is to contact LY seller virustar here, I find his price to be very good.

I've had my eye on this one for some time now but never pulled the trigger. Too many black watches with black bezel. Need to flip some to make space in the watch box. tongue.gif But definitely in my list.

Is Orient mvmt as robust and accurate as Seiko's? I like the idea of having reserve indicator there. I poisoned a bit when I see that picture.
I feel Orient is under-rated locally by many. Even their lower range (Mako, Mako II, etc) are great bang for the buck.

As for the watch above, here's a great review by Danny of MWF http://www.malaysiawatchforum.com/index.php/topic,9.0.html

I guess. At least for international purchases with International50 coupon. There's also 60% less, for a purchase of 15+ watches with FriendsandFamily coupon. I got this info from their automated email to me just nao.
Without doubt that is the cheapest price I've seen so far. Sg Wang selling it for 3.5K.

That's a nice looking GMT.

I guess. The shipping cost is quite attractive, at least compared to my previous international shipping cost I used to pay last time. US60 from US&A to KL. At US15 that's yummy.
I've bought straps from the US and it costs US12 for registered mail. So I doubt for watches it's US15. But if u went ahead and paid, I wonder what they would do.

hi to all our watch enthusiasts here. im a proud owner of a Seiko 5 (graduation gift), and i now would like to expand my collection, with a simple dress watch.

have stumbled upon a particular Seiko dress watch online and fell in love with it. was just wondering if any of you have seen or worn this model before?
if yes, anything to share of it?

Seiko SKK649P1
I'm the least suited to give my opinion as I don't own a single dress watch but I'll give my 2 cents worth.

I could give a lot of negative comments on the watch purely from the looks of it (and that's only bcoz I dont like small sized dress watches). Maybe some others here who own dress watches could give their opinion.

I do think that it is an unbelievable price if it is indeed sapphire crystal. thumbup.gif

But most important thing is you mentioned that you fell in love with it. That's the deal for me. As long as you love the watch, dont care what people say. That's how I approach watches anyway. tongue.gif

hey, out of topic question here,

when i shake my watch (SPORK), i could hear da sound from its engine clearly, is tat any prob wif tat?
There is a rotor that spins to power the movement when you shake the watch. On some watches it's louder. I have not paid attention to the spork but it is quite normal that it is the sound of the rotor spinning.

Hi, I have this Seiko chronoghraph 7T92,
it was a gift from my late father during year 2006/07, cant remember,  sweat.gif

The stop watch hand need to be re adjust, I think maybe cos I wear this watch near magnetic field area..  sad.gif
Last time, during my practical (non destructive test) class, I forgot to remove the watch while perform the magnetic particle inspection,
My fren saw all the hands turns very very fast.. hahaha

The watch still function normally after that, only the stopwatch got problem, when reset, the 1/20  and minute hands does not go to 0..
There is a way that you can calibrate the hands urself by pulling out the crown and pressing the pushers. But I'm not sure whether ur watch can do that. Have a look into the manual. It may be specified there.

This is my first kinetic watch. Never been a fan of kinetic but got poisoned by other Seiko members and after doing some reading on the newer kinetic movement, decided to pull the trigger.

I've been feeling lazy these days and have been wearing quartz watches more than autos. Early morning just grab the watch and go without needing to shake the watch, change the date and time. blush.gif

Attached is what I had in mind...  wub.gif a Scuba & a Velutura.....sigghh.... drool.gif

p/ IF U look at my Timex watch, i like watches that are BIG, anything you can recommend besides Seiko?
Between the two, I'd definitely go for the SBDD003. The price is very different from the Velatura as well.

quite confusing for the 1st time, but once i got it, it is actually quite simple...
many many thanks  notworthy.gif
also, my screen / glass got scrathes already,
- how much for a replacement
- can replace with sapphire glass? (or scratch resist/proof material) and how much does it cost?
Thong Sia should be able to replace it with a stock crystal but not sapphire unless the original came with sapphire. You could try to source for a sapphire crystal from one of the Seiko modders from overseas tho - Harold (yobokies), Jake (JakeB), etc.

QUOTE(LEVIATHAN @ Dec 17 2010, 06:02 AM)
I replaced my scratched glass at Thong Sia for RM80. That's for a hardlex crystal. If sapphire I don't know.

Bro iamadrianlee, how's the feel of that kinetic mvmt? I think the natural upgrade path is from automatic to spring drive LOL.
So far so good - power reserve consistently shows 6 months eventho I'm not wearing it daily.

Hard to give you a definite year for 7009 movement as they had a lifespan between 1970-1999. In your case the watch was produced in October but the year could be 1976, 1986 or 1996.

If it's just battery change then it won't costs much. Can do it at any watch shop.
