Ouch...it's in the rm4000+ region for the 2 seikos...seems like it doesn't matter which movement it uses then...newer models are more expensive...
Thinking of pulling the trigger for SPB001...found 1 on ebay...selling for US$ 600+...

Wow...orient that hacks...the places to look for orients are really scarce...but orient's design and complication are quite nice for the money..

Since Yen appreciate I become very depressed. Newer model more expensive mostly because of this.
Of course movement is more high tech. Highwind85 you are now really deep into watches haha, pulling trigger anytime. I was once obsessed now start into Hifi world.

Guys eventually will indulge in 1 or a few to these hobbies...Watches, Cars, Photography, Audio, gadgets...etc...
Been looking at prospective "candidates" to buy since August...so about 2 months + of hunting....
Japanese Domestic Models sure are expensive...but those are the goodies compared to watches they market world wide...
Even watches with 6R15 movement still cost a lot in my opinion...
this is quite nice... http://www.seiyajapan.com/product/S-SARB06...ktail-Time.html
and also this http://www.seiyajapan.com/product/S-SARB02...5-SARB027.html..
but they are expensive... sweat.gif

this yr Orient has been releasing moving that hacks.
In fact I should say Seiko group has started doing that back in 2009, Orient is kinda late.

to some JDM has better finish. Supply < Demand, thats why they are costly.

anyway the prices quoted for Orient are MSRP, after discount come down to ~2.4k

Since both of them are quartz, there's not much to compare in terms of movement...it will go down to the design and also the chronograph function...
sometimes that would make a difference...

Seiko 5 Sports is part of the Seiko 5 series with 5 important feature: day, date, automatics, water resistant, shock resistant..others may have different definition for the "5". Seiko 5 Sports has water resistant of 100m compared to normal Seiko 5 with 50m water resistant...7s26 or 7s36 movements are used in the current Seiko 5 series..

Seiko automatics can refer to any other automatics in seiko...probably japanese domestic models such as the Alpinist, the Spirit, Seiko Divers..etc..
Most of them use a different movement series...6r15 with hacking and handwinding or others...

Both having the same movement, same water resistance...so it depends on which design do you like more...
Submariner style or military style...Maybe you can go to a watch shop and try it on your wrist to decide...
P/S: SNZF17k1 is not a true divers watch...

I guess the missing 5 min marking stands out.

looking at the wiki.. both don't really qualify right?

haha...divers watch will put "Divers" instead of "Water Resistant" as their indicator...
and should met ISO standard (ISO 6425)...

Both uses the same ym62 engine by seiko. However in terms of design if it was ur own money would you pay extra 200 for the latter design? just want your opinion thanks tongue.gif

i encountered this situation before...when i have to choose between the regular version and the PVD version of the same model...PVD version cost about rm100 more..in the end i chose the PVD version..why? coz it looks nicer than the regular version...
So yeah...design does play a part in deciding which watch to buy...because how much you like the design will after the wrist time for the the watch..no point buying a watch that you don't like very much right? it will just end up in the box..
