Does anybody know that willow tree branches or in hokkien "Liew Kee" (aka Guan Yin tree) is a very powerful item which can ward off evil spirit?

This is not a story.

This incident really happened a few year ago. My uncle & aunty went to HK for a holiday and they were given a haunted hotel room to stay. Actually, my uncle had a talisman for protection which he kept in his shirt pocket. But before he went to sleep, he took off his shirt and put it far away for his bed. When my uncle was sleeping, a ghost lick his hand. He can feel it ,woke up and can see the ghost licking his hand but he can't do anything, maybe under the control of the ghost. A few hours later, his hand become red and painful (sore) and he started to have high fever.
Taking many Panadol also can't make the fever down. As time pass-by, his hand become worst, pus or "nana" also got. So, frightening.

Once they came back home, his son sent him to seek treatment in the hospital. Wa lau eh. The ghost also follow him back!!!. He can see it himself. His son quickly went to a temple and asked god for help.

One of the important advice the god gave was, quickly go and get some "liew kee" to put them beside my uncle bed to chase away all the ghosts from going near him.

Wish to talk about umbrella.

Do you bring umbrella into your house/apartment to keep after using it especially in the evening/night? Some people Won't? Why?

Some believe that ghost like to hide inside an umbrella.

Well, if a ghost has hide inside your umbrella when you used it especially in the evening or at night and then you bring it inside your house to keep, you has bring the ghost into your house too.

Because of this believe, some people do not allow you to bring an umbrella into their house when you visit them.

Believe it or not? It is entire up to you.

Sometimes, an umbrella is being place on top of a coffin.
At time you could also see in the newspaper that an umbrella is being used by a temple medium in ceremony related to dead person.
The umbrella is being used to shield the ghost from sunlight or god, I also don't know.

So, be aware since the Hungry Ghost is coming, this Sunday.

This is a nice thread. I like it because it is very educational. I think you should rename it "Spritual Being and Ghost Stories". It is not just telling ghost stories but knowledge on spiritual beings had been shared and discussed.

Let me make my stand known. Although I like this thread it does not mean I am a great "fan". I do not deny the existence of spiritual being but I dont think the had the ability to harm us in any way at all. I see it as you guys just trying to scare yourselves.

Most of them could not live to a simple dare. Ask them to spent a night in a graveyard or a haunted house. I have taken this dare in my teens thus my believe that they have no power to harm us.

Yup this is what I believe in too although I never did meet a ghost. Maybe they ran away before I arrived.

Line-up position in your family.

I know that many parents like to cover-up unhappy family matter. Let say, Mrs. Ang has given birth to 3 boys and 3 girls. Unfortunately the second son passed away when he was very small.

When all the children have grown up, let say one of the girls get marriage & has children of her own, her children will have to call the mother's brothers as uncle.

Sometime, the grandparents (Mr & Mrs. Ang) would want their grandchildren to call 1st uncle, 2nd uncle, 3rd uncle and so on.

So, in this family, as told earlier, the 2nd son has passed away. Most likely, the grandparents will "promote" the 3rd son to be called as 2nd uncle (thus, ignoring the 2nd dead son his line-up position in the family).

This is Not Correct. The 2nd son who has passed away might not be happy and could do something to the uncle who has been promoted to take over his position.

FYI, the dead person ghost will regularly go back home to visit his family and be with his family member!!!

Remember the dead wants to be recognised/counted in his/her family line-up as a member too.

Do correct the situation if you do not want the "promoted person" to suffer.

Also, remember the senior family member should not pray the junior member who is dead.

I think it common practise with chinese families. I had been calling 2nd uncle eldest uncle for years. Nothing wrong with him. He died happy and his children successful.

It is up to individual to believe.

For the benefit of people who might believe, here is one example.

One of my close relative who was promoted to higher position, remain single until today.
This man is very successful and is already in mid 40. He earns five figures monthly, has house and most of the thing he wants. He has many pretty and successful lady chasing him but somehow he is not interested in marriage. He is niether gay nor pondan.

One day, his elder brother ghost who died during childhood possessed one of his sister-in-law and tell the family member about the punishment he had made to the promoted brother. In fact nobody suspect it. It seem that he will remain single for the rest of his life.

This case is real and we Might not know what other ghost might do in other cases. For example, they could also made the promoted sibling seriously sick every year. Who knows?
