QUOTE(clieman @ Jun 18 2012, 03:33 PM) Apparently Pacemaker is not a production app, it is used on the go instead of being able to record what did you do.So everything is 'live', you play it and that's it. There is no record function in pacemaker at the moment, not sure will they implement it in the future, but I am sure you can line in into your PC and record it like that. I am not good in music and these stuff so i just play it myself, don't really have any awesome works haha |

iPad will still be the king even if MS Surface released before ipad1, why? Because of the epic app ecosystem of iOS. I have used an iPad before, my roommate has it. It is not just an iPod touch with 9inch screen.
The iPad-only iOS apps are really awesome and many companies even those magazine released apps in iPad only (not even any android or iphone/ipod touch). For example, ELLE, Ceci etc. IMO Playbook is really great in native stuff like the browser, bbm, video player, multitasking but it is currently lacking certain essential apps (though I don't really need them like skype). MS's tablet is a freaking 10 inch beast, I have tried ipad and galaxy tab 10.1, they are just too huge. MS Surface with windows 8/RT, it gets real multitasking yes, but one will get really bored of it after awhile. Imagine, I have a desktop and a 15" laptop with windows 8 later. When I finish my work, pick up my tablet and play -- Hulla, exactly the same thing I have on my desktop. Why would I have the same thing all over again? Though this is very subjective, I think RIM and Playbook still has a position in the developers' minds (Just see how many developers are interested in BB10 Jam Event). I foresee a bright future of BB10 and a myriad of awesome and big apps coming to the BB10. As long as RIM doesn't do anything stupid before that or bankrupt. P/S: In fact, I quite like the fact that Playbook is not too mainstream because I love it when I am the only one having Playbook among my friends circle. It's so unique. Friends keep complaining their android tabs lagging while playing 1080... iPad even worse, tedious conversion and file system. As long as we keep the developers interested we can get awesome apps |

Actually the problem currently lies with the advertisement and buyers' attention. Now whenever a buyer wants to buy a new phone, like my friends, their mindset always set at "iPhone or Galaxy". It is like blackberry never existed in their consideration and most of the consumers out there don't even know the existence of playbook and upcoming bb10.
Because they keep on blindly following the mainstream that's why. We can't do anything about this, just hope RIM will regain their stance and make blackberry back to the top position by releasing a flagship bb10 with developers of the big names joining; with strong and effective advertisement/campaigns as well. |

QUOTE(kentchow75 @ Jun 20 2012, 05:10 PM) Or can we conclude that they are lazy at it? Again, to be honest, we DON'T need good advertisement in Malaysia. Why? First, even if BB10/playbook sells really well in malaysia, the only benefit we get is either more accessories for our devices (e.g. Playbook cases, which is very rare in malaysia) or pride (Oh you use playbook? It's awesome -- compared with "what is playbook?" now).I don't know how they did the job in other countries, but the job is done badly in Malaysia indeed We need Playbook/BB10 to be really famous or hot selling in US/UK or any big countries which can make a difference. This will get the developers' attention to join the crowd and port their apps. Though, we already have a lot of interested developers since BB10jam. The developers are porting now and we only need to wait for the launch. BTW this is seriously out of topic, we should discuss about playbook itself but not RIM's future etc, we can't do anything, just support them is enough |

You can easily create a new blackberry ID, without the need of a bb phone. I use the same ID for both playbook and phone though, cuz my purchases are all in the same account.

Should be second hand, but daniekl's set although 9 months old, it includes an original case too... New 16gb at around 999, so I think 700-750 is fair for both party.

QUOTE(Tainted @ Jun 28 2012, 02:20 AM) Hi all, thinking of getting a blackberry playbook as my second tablet. However, there are few things which I'm still not clear about. Generally very fluid, very user friendly, there are many apps available compared with blackberry phone and you can also use certain android apps. Though currently some big apps like skype and instagram not available for playbook but you won't really miss these. How is it generally? Is it fast and what about apps available for it? Games as well? How is the video playback, is it smooth? Games, many are available, even angry birds space and plants versus zombies those. HD games too. Video playback is the best among ALL OSes. Silky smooth 1080p playback (I tried 720p 60fps playback too, smooooth) and you can pinch and zoom while playing the video Seeking forward and backward is instant. I would say top notch for video playback. iPad and any other tablets cannot match this ^^ You can see my super short review when I first got my playbook (really basic stuff because I just got it not long) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4zktrnm2OY...=2&feature=plcp This post has been edited by zellleonhart: Jun 28 2012, 03:07 AM |

And before that you can also go www.goodereader.com/apps to search if they already converted. That is a database for converted apps. QUOTE(peter_pj @ Jul 3 2012, 03:02 PM) Sigh, so disappointed with RIM. I know how you feel First they say that BB10 would be delayed to Q1 2013 which I have been patiently waiting for to replace my strong-as-a-brick and toilet-bowl-proof Storm 2 Then my Playbook dies on me. Sent to Singapore to repair and they are now saying that there are no parts to repair my unit as the 64GB Playbook is out of production. They had it for close to 2 months already. Hopefully the reseller will refund my money if they are unable to repair it. Must be strong to not switch to Android. Though I've already expected they will delay BB10 so not a surprise for me, I will get a qwerty bb10 so still Q1 2013. Your playbook is not brightstar warranty? Why need to send to singapore. My brightstar set only took a week and they replaced a new one for me in malaysia. 64GB as well. |

QUOTE(peter_pj @ Jul 6 2012, 09:21 PM) Nope, mine is an AP set. The reseller has agreed to refund me the full purchase price today. Maybe get a Galaxy Note and get the best of the phone and tablet world... Maybe you can wait for Galaxy Note 2... Going to be released in a month or two. Native Jelly Bean is awesome. |

QUOTE(creative zn @ Jul 15 2012, 12:54 AM) Thanks bro. Got it preowned but with warranty. RM600. 1. I rarely got it but sometimes if it happen, go to the tray icon find the BB Device Manager, in connected devices there should have your playbook... right click and click Mount Volume. Then wait awhile the password prompt will come out. (I suggest you put a password because install 3rd party app via usb need development mode ON, which need password).Thanks. Btw, there are 4 major thing i don't like bout pb thus destroy my joy with it. =/ 1- super hard to connect with pc. until now still cannot. my pb os 2.0.1.358. desktop manage 7.0 on win 7. still trying to find solution in google. 2 hrs ady. T_T 2- the reso is kinda bad. well maybe i used to my 9900 which is sharper 286dpi vs 170dpi on pb. Installed matt sp, it kinda blur bit. will change to normal and see how. 3- cannot send anything via usb. well, i can tolerate since got bb bridge. hope bb bridge can improve and allow we sending files from phone to pb. 4- charging take forever. maybe im new in tablet. dunno. sad. 2. IMO is okay because I play 720p/1080p vids they still look razor sharp. maybe because I am not used to HD screen (9780 has low dpi). I use matte too, after awhile you will get used to it. 3. Because you didn't get playbook to show in pc thats why. If my 1st method doesn't work, restart your playbook and try again. BTW you CAN send files from phone to pb. There is an app called My File Manager can copy paste when bridged. 4. Do you use the original 2A charger (should be orange tip)? If you use phone charger (700mA input) it will take forever and not recommended. I suggest you lurk around crackberry forums because they have awesome info there. About new/good apps and problem solving (if any). Discover yourself! |

QUOTE(acbc @ Jul 15 2012, 02:27 AM) My PB 64GB currently running as mail checker on my desk. Virtually no useful apps for it. However, it is a good AVI player for my TV. No idea why you find no useful apps but there are just too many for me. Maybe you don't social much or surf web much, but may I know what was the purpose you actually buy a tablet for?I use playbook for online usage most of the time (with the awesome bridge), browser, tweetcaster for twitter (android app), facebook, GeeReader for RSS, Flipboard, mangawatcher, and a handful of awesome games like the recently launched Sonic, GOF 2 HD, Gravity Lab, all angry birds, and not to mention many old game emulators like PS one, Nintendo, gameboy, SNES etc. If you find playbook has no useful apps... Then any tablet will do the same for you. |

QUOTE(creative zn @ Jul 15 2012, 03:11 AM) Thanks man. Oh, the number 3, i means cannot transfer anything using bluetooth. Typo bit. Bluetooth wise, sorry to disappoint you, it's like iPad, you cannot send or receive files from other devices via bluetooth. You can only bridge to your blackberry phone and use file manager to copy.Oh crap. I got normal charger i think, black tip 700mA. Will check with the seller back tomorrow. Btw, in case my luck is bad. Anyone know where to buy pb charger? Pls help. However, the wifi sharing is great. make sure you enable file sharing and wifi sharing in Settings > Storage & Sharing, enable both file sharing and wifi sharing (if you don't enable them, most probably you can't use USB! I think this is the issue). To use wifi sharing, you can check your playbook's IP when connected to a wifi (settings > About > network), just enter the ip in your computer file explorer e.g. 192.168.1.4\media (must include media) then you can access the playbook folder via WIFI. For the charger, using the black tip 700mA is not recommended, it often gives me a bug which the touch screen goes haywire. be sure to ask the seller to give you a 2A charger (it is also heavier). I don't know where else to buy |

QUOTE(creative zn @ Jul 15 2012, 04:44 PM) Thanks bro. Good then. There are many good apps for playbook but some of them not free... Last time got a website with those 'free' apps but closed. If you have any apps you want you can PM me I can upload them if I have (since I downloaded them before the website closed). For the usb connection, i suspect my pc is the culprit. I can connect with my laptop, np. Guess, i just use with my laptop only like this. For the charger, case settle. I just bought galaxy tab charger, 2A. Work much better compare to phone charger. |
