Yah bro. Still consider it since i just got it yesterday. Will play more with it tonight since i got new charger. Nothing to worry if battery low.  smile.gif Maybe just advertise first. Huhu..

Yep. Definitely my next phone will be blackberry. I totally fall in love with rim os. But just a matter if it gonna be a same model, or 9780. Still thinking. Totally no budget liao.  sweat.gif
*
Hmm if your budget okay, maybe 9790? Since it has OS7 which is as fast as 9900 just smaller screen. or a curve 9360.

I am using 9780 but OS6 is getting painfully slow... or you can wait till next year BB10 haha

Yup my playbook startup also much faster than my bold 9780... I am lazy to format/reinstall OS for my phone already, few months after format sure lag again.

Wait for BB10!

Haha.. To late guys. I just bought 2nd 9780 this noon. Need to get used to not touch the screen.  sad.gif

Welcome back to the Team BlackBerry biggrin.gif
Honestly my playbook is with me 24/7, my phone only used for intensive bbm or act as a 'modem'. I use my playbook to check facebook/twitter and online all the time. Haha

Haha.. Thanks man. I cancel sell my playbook also. Document to go is too vital for me. Sadly doesn't come with 9780. Need to purchase for premium.  doh.gif

Lucky still have playbook. Guess after this, i will hook up with my playbook more often.  biggrin.gif

PMed you documents to go for 9780 'free' version. Check it.

Morning guys. Want to ask, how long does it take to fully charge your playbook? Using the playbook charger provided, that orange tip one. 1.8A.
*
I think 2-3 hours max... I charge it whenever the battery drops to around 35 so if not mistaken 2 hours should do... Didn't really count

Wah. So jelly. Oh not while charge. Im not using my pb while chrge. It lag when i want to reply here like now, or when im typing on google search bar, and when bbm. But when im using document, not lag. All fast like normal. Dunno if the internet make it like this or something. Hope rim release 2.1 fast. tongue.gif
*
Apparently my playbook also lag when typing for reply in lowyat forum (only reply, when quoting someone). But if other website no problem, maybe the background image is lagging it. I use simplebrowser+ (paid browser tho) no lag.
2.1 beta is already available but need to personally register for it, but I suggest you don't do it first unless you are already familiar with everything.

Using 2.1 and the android player never crashed even once =D

Ah i see. Guess its normal then. Glad to hear 2.1 already beta. Hope soon will release. Love my pb now. Glad didn't sell it. biggrin.gif
*
You will love it more biggrin.gif Try loading some 1080p or 720p videos in it, you can pinch and zoom while the video is playing as well... Really awesome.

Sometimes I use it to watch episodes of drama 1 hour each also XD

QUOTE(Stevenc89 @ Jul 18 2012, 10:58 PM)
Hi guys,

I'm interested in Blackberry Playbook.
As you can see from my signature, I have been living in Apple ecosystem for a long time but I'm very impressed with the UI and gesture of BP.

I have some question that need your help in my decision making:
1) Does BP comes with a great Pdf reader? Bookmark, smooth scrolling and able to read large file? I had a iPad and ibook is amazing but I sold it later on because its too big and heavy.

2) Can BP install PPS for video streaming? Or is there any other video streaming app?

3) May I know what you guys usually use BP for?

Thanks in advance!!! : )
*
We call it PB (PlayBook) instead of BP (Blackberry playbook) haha.

1) The native Adobe PDF reader is quite a simple app but it is smooth, can open large file but cannot do extensive stuff like bookmarking. Though you can install Repligo reader (android app) in playbook, it is an android app but runs perfectly well, and can bookmark as well.

2) Unfortunately there is no PPS app for playbook, and the PPS app for android doesn't run well in playbook. You can go PPS website to stream though, because playbook browser supports full flash, can stream basically any flash based website.

3) I mainly use for social networking and as a media player... Browsing on the playbook is awesome. Bridge with my blackberry phone = basically free internet connection anywhere. Video player is the best of all tablets, 1080p video without any lag and can pinch and zoom while watching! There are many games for playbook too but unfortunately there is rarely 'cracked' apps for playbook unlike iPad, you can jailbreak and use cydia + installous.

Though, I have my own way to get apps which is either buy from app world or some google search...

Thanks!

By the way, is there anywhere that I can have a hands-on on PB?

I went to PIKOM at KLCC recently but I can't find it anywhere. : (
*
As you see, PlayBook is kinda unknown to the public in Malaysia, 9/10 people in Malaysia might not even know playbook exists... until now I haven't encountered any shop or outlet displaying a useable playbook.

Even myself, I get to try it the first time when I paid for it (I bought from a seller called item.com in this forum, but seems out of stock already). You won't find it in PC fair, not a chance.

In lowyat maybe but tough luck. I also have no idea where to buy playbook now, maybe you can try to find in garage sales see if there is any.

Do note that if you managed to find display/test units in stores, all if not most of them are using Playbook OS 1 which is not as solid as the current 2.0/2.1.

If you are satisfied with the fluidity/useability of OS 1 then you will be impressed by 2.0 biggrin.gif

Damn. Real sad. My galaxy tab charger wont charge my PB anymore. Now need to charge using phone charger 750mAh.  sad.gif

Thinking to buy from blackberry.com. I ask em, the shipping method to Msia is by DHL Express. Is it safe? Anyone bought from blackberry.com official website before this?  sweat.gif
*
Before this it charges? Should be okay, try reboot your PB and try charge again?

Hmm it should be reliable because it's directly from blackberry. Or you can try shop.crackberry.com, but not sure how much is the shipping to malaysia and is it expensive, but crackberry is reliable.

Your 2A charger should work, try again, because it worked before right.

If you got money, get this http://shop.crackberry.com/blackberry-rapi...r/5A17A8107.htm Expensive but great charger, I can't afford one because shipping to malaysia is expensive :|

Oh, that's a great deal. Feeling so like buying it.

What's your oppinion Zelleon?
*
Looks like a greal deal (seldom used, 7 months warranty means only 5 months old, free case and SP, somemore 64GB).

Though it might not be a brightstar set because it is cheap, but it is still worth it because still got warranty. Get it!

Any specs of things should I take notice of when taking over the PB?? ^^
Any where that is easily defected or must be nice in condition
*
Hmm check the screen is it scratched (if with SP, then most probably safe)
check for any dent on the body itself
try all the buttons (Lock, volume buttons and play/pause)
-note: some playbooks the Lock button is a bit recessed inside but if you are able to press it then it's okay. Mine is also recessed a bit but so far no problem.

Also check the capacity is it really 64GB (bottom got write how big) and in options > About > Hardware you can also see the capacity.

Ah yea, make sure the charger provided is the original playbook charger, rated 2A output and usually have a orange tip with a blackberry logo. If he gives you a 750mA output charger, that is for normal phone, cannot charge playbook properly.

Check the speaker whether is it working on both sides, crank up the volume also. test the camera as well.

I think that's all I can think of...

Heh, nice list man~
By the way, that dude sold off his PB to other guy without replying my PMs. rclxub.gif

Saw that Storekini restocked their 64gb with rm1112.
But it is almost August already, not sure if wanna wait for new PB or get 1 of this. D:
*
Do note that, the new PB although has sim card slot and faster clocked processor (same chip, just clocked faster), it has probably the same RAM, same GPU and same screen. YET it might cost you as much as the price of playbook 1 when it first launched (Around 1.5k for just 16GB, 2.x k for 64GB).

Though, seeing RIM's position now they might lower the price to be competent. Cannot say much about that.

For me, because I AM sure I will get a BB10 phone, so no point getting a playbook with sim card with a higher price.

P/S: Unless the screen of playbook 2 has higher reso i.e. 1280x800 whistling.gif

Are you sure about that?
Few minutes googling over the new Playbook but couldn't get much information about it.
RIM did not announce that the new Playbook will have the same processor ram or gpu and also screen resolution either.

What's more to a concern was that the current PB will receive blackberry10 features and their hardware compatible or not.
*
1. RIM didn't annouce before but that was insider news, I couldn't link you the source because that's what everyone was talking about in crackberry. Well, I cannot assure it as well.

2. Current PB WILL receive BB10 update and it's definitely compatible, RIM announced it already. The OS in the BB10 Dev Beta is already useable in current Playbook lol but unofficially http://forums.crackberry.com/blackberry-ta...laybook-736036/

Of course if budget is not a concern, then wait for the new playbook, it will be better than the current one for sure just not sure how much better.

When the battery fully drained you need to charge it about 20~30minutes only try to turn it back on... Don't hurry.

Now it's running okay right? Next time charge it before the battery kong! Modern lithium batteries last longer when you charge it frequently, don't let it drain too often.

BlackBerry PlayBook 4G LTE Launching 31st July for $549.95 : http://bit.ly/QgMl5t
*
As I expected, 1.5GHz processor, the rest almost identical. Even screen resolution and RAM.

550USD for 32gb (Around RM1.7~1.8k)... Compared with now RM1.1k for 64GB.

Summing up comparison:
Pay extra 600~700 ringgit, you get:
-Faster clocked processor
-Sim card slot (LTE connectivity)
-Slightly lower battery (4800mAh vs 5300mAh)
* And a cooler feeling of using the latest playbook? brows.gif

you lost:
-32GB of space
-RM600

Hmm.
