Check out "Sundry Notes", there is a free lite version to try. Really worth the USD4.99 with embedded pdf, word or excel files inside a scrollable window. Sync to Dropbox, Evernote etc. I have 3 to 4 notes app and this is awesome.

I use iPad to replace my office notebook when meeting clients. With 3G connection, it makes my presentation so much easier when I want to propose new solutions since information is just a click away. Yesterday my Day 2 using iPad at work, and it helped me closed a deal, faster, although not a big ones. My customer was very impressed with iPad, asked me where can she get it cheap lol.

Download and use Zinio. The free magazine previews are limited but interesting for casual browsing of some tech, business magazines, etc. US and UK-oriented but interesting casual browsing content. I like the Economist. Malaysian must teh reading more! Then our England more powderful one! And hopefully brain better too, instead of working like dogs for the "ruling class".

Added on November 29, 2010, 11:48 pmAlso, you should try out RageHD if you haven't. Bl**dy nice shooter, and bloody too. Best shooter graphics on iPad at this point in time. Also, Cut The Rope on iPad. Nice. Fruit Ninja I hear is awesome but haven't tried yet.

Acceptable speed in iBooks application for reading books and PDF.
In Zinio, acceptable as well. Not super-smooth, but alright.

Found this thread very helpful as i too have been compiling strong reasons i should get one as i do travel on peak times of the year but i use my iphone to check emails and surf the net, hence do i really need an ipad?.. since the official ipads are now launched and the prices are pretty interesting, will need to sit down and mull over it..

yeah me too, just got my ipad yesterday...i read thru this thread b4 i decided to get one... i'll mainly use it to surf net at home (wifi connection on desktop not very strong so i can sit anywhere i want with the ipad, plus start up is faster than desktop, very convenient for casual surfing), read ebooks, check emails, now gonna explore how to use it for work, mainly presentations, will def store documents on it thru dropbox and bring them along when i travel for work... and then there's games and movies...

The iPad for me is an entertainment gadget rather than a device to replace laptops or even netbook. Each device is targeted for a particular purpose. If we try to carry out tasks that other devices are meant for we will be disappointed. I use mine for reading ebooks and pdf format magazines and books and the screen display makes reading a great experience. I own a Nook and an iRiver ebook reader and the iPad makes reading more enjoyable. Web browsing is an additional experience. But seriously if you want iPad for serious work, better get a lightweight laptop. My opinion.

I Agree with you

Try to use Mac Air as your lightweight laptop .

It is very convenient if you want for a serious work and carry everywhere . It it very light ! almost only 1.06kg.
