Havocx is a great "seller" if you could call him that as he is doing this bulk without profit anyway. Plus, i didnt even buy anything through him and he's spent quite abit of time helping me with my queries. Youre a rare breed, bro. Especially in this country. These are the questions i asked and he answered.
1)Can i share ebooks/mags between my kindle and my gf's and how? You can link 5 accounts to a single Amazon Kindle account. Giving you an instance i have an iPhone, 2 Kindle's, 2 iPad2's. In order to only need to buy a book once to be shared amongst these 5 devices, on all the devices i will need to have them registered to one single Amazon account. Thus for you and your girlfriend, since I know that both of you have the 3G unit, you will just need to have both Kindle's registered to a single Amazon account. Oh and do show that you didnt get the Kindle from me, just me helping out Option for this will be in Manage my Kindle. Its a pretty easy registration and youre good to go! Now Pros and Cons : Pros: 1. One Account, one time purchase of books. 2. Similar books to multiple accounts up to 5 accounts. 3. Synching of last read page to multiple devices *. ie If youre on Page 5 of Book A on Kindle 1. Reading the same book on Kindle 2 later, even if youre across the world (provided youve synched both earlier), you can then continue on Page 6 of Book A on Kindle 2. 4. Ability to share more books with up to 2 Amazon Kindle account. Means your girlfriend can maintain one account and you one. You each can buy separate books, but say you want to read whats on her's, just unregister yours from your account and reregister it to hers. Later when you want to read yours back just reverse the process. (Excellent for super large families, if just you too, one account will do) Cons: 1. Your books are synched across 2 devices. Thus, if youre girlfriend is reading book A and is at page 7. From your Kindle you then sync and open book A and read till page 47 and sync. Your girlfriend across the city opens book A after synching and finds the book now on Page 47. She is confused and continues reading back from page 7 and now till page 20 and syncs. You come home, syncs and strangely page 47 went to page 20 and syncs again and so on and so forth. Now imagine same thing with 5 accounts. (You should add this con as well) 2. If you share kindles with your friends. You will unfortunately only be able to have all kindles under one name. ie. Ah Chong's kindle, Ah Chong's 2nd kindle, Ah Chong's 3rd kindle and so on... Solution : Dont read same book. Dont sync if you dont need to which then beats the purpose of synching 2)Just to confirm, i can link my Msian CC to an Amazon US Address and no hiccups should occur? Yes no hiccups WILL occur. HOWEVER very important, VERY VERY IMPORTANT is that you must realise that the main failure is from the email account you have used to register your Amazon account to. Failures will occur eminating mostly from that point and not because youre physically detected as being in Malaysia or using a Malaysian Credit Card. Why ? Because i can just be a US expatriate living in Malaysia and using a Malaysian credit card. The essence of this failure for a Malaysian is when they have their email address INITIALLY registered as Malaysia. For instance : dryll@yahoo.co.uk - This clearly was registered in UK - Fail. dryll@gmail.com - Original location when first registered was Malaysia. Only later, changing it to US - Fail. dryll@tm.net.my - Fail. dryll@jaring.com - Fail. Hopefully you now have an idea 3) What happens if i am detected to be out of US? Also, how would they be able to detect besides email? Amazon detects in multiple ways, email address, ip address and credit card use. If you happen to be detected out of US, you just cant buy books from US Amazon stores. Youll get a warning which is okay to pass by. This error will not be permanent if your email address IS US based. Like i mentioned earlier, why would Amazon stop you, a US citizen in Malaysia who wants to buy an eBook using his Malaysian Credit Card ? This post has been edited by dryll: Apr 24 2011, 10:06 PM |

QUOTE(dryll @ Apr 24 2011, 09:54 PM) Btw, Amazon has detected im in a different country... I Think 3g tells them that youre not in the US. Anyone know a way around this? Thank you Actually the only way around that is to turn off 3G for your Kindle and only use it when travelling. You see the 3G feature comes with it Unlimited Data, Ive seen some folks being able to use the Data plan to be able to surf on Amazon's site or via Google. Cant expect video streaming on it though. Now here's a catch, there are some success stories, but also some not so nice stories on 3G.3G on the Kindle is provided by AT&T. AT&T as far as i know dont have a proper 'deal' with any of our local telco's for roaming, hence, they would want to minimize this as best they can. Roaming charges is not cheap and since Amazon is absorbing these and in some effect AT&T as well, thats the reason for the 3G limitation. There's none strangely in Singapore or Thailand though, but its a hit and miss. QUOTE(darius30 @ Apr 25 2011, 02:38 PM) Got my Kindle 3 last Friday, really happy with the whole "process" of dealing.
