Heh ? Ive always welcomed back question smile.gif
Firstly though, you gift cert ran out ? Thats not right since there shouldnt be any expiry dates on the gift cards. So lets see on your account now. The Malaysian credit card is never a problem since Amazon would not bad anyone from buying books, or items or anything really as long as there is payment. No merchant will in fact. So its the account thats flagged. So lets see if you have all the requirements.

1. Email address - Location of this Email address MUST be in the US. When this email was created it must show US. So if you have a yahoo.co.uk address, its still not showing US and well there in lies the problem.
2. Amazon Account Username - Must be tied to an email address that is not in the US.
3. Amazon Account Address - Must be showing a local US address.

Having all 3 requirements, Amazon would not give you problems.
Right now, your situation may seem sticky but its not a big problem. Since you already have books in your account, I would think that the best thing would just be to reconnect your Amazon account to an email address that is US registered. That way your books would still be around in your account and you dont have to repurchase them again, unless of course all your books are free books then a fresh start is better. smile.gif

Hope that helps!

hi again. thanks for the advice. tried about 20 times to change the address as you (and people on another thread advised) but it just wouldn't let me change the address. i ended up deregistering the kindle under my fake address and registering it under another fake address. that seems to have worked.

anyway thanks again.

havocx,

I am a bit confused about the email address.
1. Email address must be in US.
2. Email address that is not in the US.

Could you explain more on this? Definitely lost here.

Thanks!

mr.anutta,

i tried your link above. Used a name provided with the US address. It comes with an email address but how do I actually retrieve the emails?

Also, I am still confused on
'Location of this Email address MUST be in the US'
and
'Amazon Account Username - Must be tied to an email address that is NOT in the US.'

Still lost here.

Thanks.

Hi mr.anutta,

I have already done that. The location is "United States". I am also using Hotspot Shield. But I am still getting automated replies stating I am purchasing from outside of US. Which is why I am wondering where have I done wrong. Hmm. I will give it a try again.

Thanks.

Actually ffin, 'Location of this Email address MUST be in the US' refers to an email creation that must not be pointing to a country that is not US. Perhaps my Yahoo.Co.UK example was not so clear. To have a better picture, consider how a Yahoo.Co.UK email address is created.

You will first on registration of your email address be pointing to United Kingdom as a country and hence your email address was created as ffin@yahoo.co.uk . It then does not matter in the future even if you changed your country to Malaysia or US since your initial registration was UK.

The same goes for your email address, unlike yahoo, gmail addresses as well as other email address does not show the country its affiliated to although like Yahoo, it still registers your original country in the database and does not matter even if you now change your country to reflect US. When that happens, your Amazon account, even though is shown US, ties itself to a non US email account, and you'll run into roadblocks like youve mentioned.

Hope that helps smile.gif

mr.anutta,
Thanks for helping out, am myself out of the country and only returning to KL later this evening smile.gif

Thanks new gal, see toldya not to worry bout it arriving the week that you'd be away smile.gif In any case in a reply to you to ensure your answers are replied smile.gif Yes! The Kindles come with a one year warranty valid from after the date you made payment to me. Should anything happen to the Kindle though just get back in touch with me, I'll provide you the order number (can pass you anytime actually) and you can send it back directly to Amazon. Once there and it's repaired/replaced they will need a US address to send it back for free within US. When the time comes I'll provide you the address and payment for the shipment back to Malaysia will be of your choice, I'll just inform my friend on the choice of shipment back that you choose.

Heh, yeah it's USD25 cheaper making it about USD114 total. Small difference to folks but thatll make it about RM75 cheaper ie Rabout RM555. It's still on preorder though and from what I can see, it may look slightly different from the current Kindle batch. And hey thanks for your order too buddy smile.gif
