sorry I'm not sure what you mean. I started a new account because I've never used this before. if that's not cool I guess I won't order tongue.gif

i really want to thank havocx for helping me get my new baby. initially i was a bit nervous transferring over such a big amount of money to someone i didn't know, but reading through the thread and seeing the positive feedback he received i decided to take a chance. and it worked out! i am right now in the process of buying books for my new kindle, making me probably the happiest person in KL at this moment i think biggrin.gif

havocx sent plenty updates throughout the process - i checked my inbox incessantly (like an addict looking for a fix tongue.gif ) and more often that not there was an update, which was super.

it was also very quick and easy to pick up the kindle from him - i practically floated instead of walking back to my office with my bag full of kindle stuff the day after the shipment came in.

i would recommend havocx to anyone who wishes to order from amazon.

thanks again!

dear havocx,

just when you thought you were rid of me - i'm back for advice. having trouble with buying my ebooks all of a sudden and i was wondering if you could help. amazon has detected that i'm not in the states. i have tried changing my address and using hotspotshield. i dunno know why they are still saying that i'm outside the states. i just realised that i stupidly let the gift cert run out, so i guess they detected my m'sian credit card. maybe i should just try deregistering my account starting fresh? i guess i will have to back up my books. what do you think? any advice greatly appreciated!!

thanks!

Heh ? Ive always welcomed back question smile.gif
Firstly though, you gift cert ran out ? Thats not right since there shouldnt be any expiry dates on the gift cards. So lets see on your account now. The Malaysian credit card is never a problem since Amazon would not bad anyone from buying books, or items or anything really as long as there is payment. No merchant will in fact. So its the account thats flagged. So lets see if you have all the requirements.

1. Email address - Location of this Email address MUST be in the US. When this email was created it must show US. So if you have a yahoo.co.uk address, its still not showing US and well there in lies the problem.
2. Amazon Account Username - Must be tied to an email address that is not in the US.
3. Amazon Account Address - Must be showing a local US address.

Having all 3 requirements, Amazon would not give you problems.
Right now, your situation may seem sticky but its not a big problem. Since you already have books in your account, I would think that the best thing would just be to reconnect your Amazon account to an email address that is US registered. That way your books would still be around in your account and you dont have to repurchase them again, unless of course all your books are free books then a fresh start is better. smile.gif

Hope that helps!

hi again. thanks for the advice. tried about 20 times to change the address as you (and people on another thread advised) but it just wouldn't let me change the address. i ended up deregistering the kindle under my fake address and registering it under another fake address. that seems to have worked.

anyway thanks again.
