QUOTE(xbomer @ Mar 19 2011, 05:41 PM) Ooh very nice pasting. Cmon buddy, a little courtesy please. I don't even know what you'd like me to do with them. I can guess but I'd rather be treated with a common courtesy you'd like me to return to you.

QUOTE(ffin @ Mar 19 2011, 08:49 PM) Thanks, havocx! Btw, could anyone comment on the lighted cover vs the Kandle? Thanks!! Sure thing! The coolest part about the official Lighted Amazon cover is that it's an amazingly thoughtful build to the Kindle. It's slim, it's efficient in power, drawing from the Kindle instead of an external source, and the light is just right.
The Kandle is for those who didnt purchase the official original cover. It works with most casings, clipping on to them and using it's own external power source. The Kandle can be used on any cover and not just for the Kindle, it can be used with other covers and maybe even be used as a small night light, small though but still works.
Having used both, id recommend still the Lighted cover, you tend to forget the Kandle sometimes haha but in term of cost value, the Kandle's the better one in terms that it's cheaper

Hey havocx, I'm relatively new here, and evidently am interested in getting the kindle. What is the procedure involved? =P Thanks =)
Edit: Reading previous posts a little, I think I've gotten a rough idea on how to do this. So havocx, can you PM me the instructions etc.?
What I wish to purchase is: - a unit of the Kindle 3 (wi-fi only), - and a lighted leather cover (apple green) to match that purchase haha.
Thanks for your continued effort at providing such an outstanding service =)
p.s. I'm based in Penang, but travel to KL and Ipoh quite often, so COD might be possible? haha.

Heya buddy, No worries and glad you've read up a little on my thread on the process and details . Details have been sent to your PM box. Sure COD is also possible if you'd like in KL, that's definitely an option, you can even come to my office!

Hi, Would one be able to select wifi only and disable 3g on the kindle 3G version? Or would it automatically switch to and fro from wifi to 3g depending on availability of service?

Heya buddy! Nice to see ya around again. Hopefully youre enjoying your Kindle well and good Ipad 2 huh ? In fact youre the 4th person who suggested I do one. Its been on my mind for a while now. Im making plans for that, however ill need to really check up on that. Reason is, the state where my colleague is from, the taxes on Apple products (State Taxes) are kinda high and I of course wanna make sure itll be cheap.
Some folks here have started on the bulk for Ipad 2, some seems genuine, others, well lets say I dont personally believe the Ipad 2 can make it here at the price they are quoting it at, but perhaps they know best. My plan (plan only for now) is to get some actual units in personally and then look at the real cost and timing for it to come in, so i can give a proper estimate rather than having folks waiting anxiously for the items. Ill let you know though!
Thanks for the trust ! This post has been edited by havocx: Mar 22 2011, 09:50 AM

Or would it automatically switch to and fro from wifi to 3g depending on availability of service? Missed this question yesterday, perhaps because I posted my earlier answer above at about the same time you did yours. As usual for the Kindle to work really well, ie to have its excellent battery life where a single charge lasts up to one month the wireless should be kept off.
Kindle 3G however does not differentiate 3G from normal Wifi. Turning on Wireless means its turning both the Wifi and 3G on. Just like the Ipad, the Kindle will by default lock on to the Wifi if its available. To specifically use 3G though even if youre in your own Wifi enabled house, just disconnect from the Wifi. To disable one or both, the Wireless for the Kindle must be turned off. This in turns unfortunately will disable both the 3G and Wifi.
Really though, i guess, it doesnt really matter to keep it on or off. With it on, you have 10 days of battery and book reading life till next recharge, thats waaay more than any phones or ipads out there. With it off, you have up to 30 days. The only contender even coming close to this kind of battery life is well...you guessed it, another Kindle!
Hope that helps!

QUOTE(taxidoor @ Mar 22 2011, 11:43 AM) Its possible, but it does not perhaps have a proper weight to cost to shipment ratio. No worries, ive sent you the quote anyway and youll have a better idea

Sorry havocx a bit late in coming back with feedback. Been caught up with tons of work. Anyway, wish to update that I've received my item on last Monday morning. People, please do consider havocx to help with your purchasing from amazon as he's really prompt in updating the status of the package from Amazon up till it arrives at our shores. I totally recommend him.

Here are some question i PM havocx early regarding Kindle 3 Wifi which i don't understand that u all/kindle user may refer to: MY QUESTION:1) Will it be save I just "OFF" my kindle wifi or "ON" it...so that there no trouble where amazon will detected my ip from malaysia...if ever i using the wifi or not....cause there certain ppl saying that their device been block after detecting their ip frm malaysia. ANSWER:1) Its not the IP thats being blocked Its the account associated with it that is, simply because its detecting that its a non US account. Really to understand this, if you are a US individual buying the Kindle and on 3 months work in Malaysia and on Wifi, youre IP is also showing Malaysia right ? And because of that Amazon will just block this US persons account ? Not really. ........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................ So bro, from your answer that mean it is ok to "ON" the WIFI and do some browsing using our local broadband as long as the account associated is register by US address then it is save...I'm i right? Now i understand...hehe

Now i understand...hehe Heya Newgal, thanks for pasting the answers on the thread, itll be easier for folks to see the answers since im sure many folks just getting the Kindle would like to know the same too. So yes, in short here are the steps. 1. Create a new email account. Location - Make sure its US. Why cant use current email account ? Unless you sure youve put country as US when you registered, you may have the issue mentioned in the question. 2. Next create your Amazon account if you have not. Country US. Address ? Anywhere. Mine is the White House haha but really, even any random McD or Starbucks will do. 3. Link that Amazon account to your email address in step 1. 4. Add your credit card, add your Malaysian Billing Address. 5. Buy your books! Been doing it since I got my own Kindle. No need Hotspotshield and dont need any nifty magic. It works beautifully
Oh and to your final question above, its a YES Hope that helps!
