WTA, is the lens hood a must?

Added on March 9, 2012, 9:22 pmI thought the original leather case is the brown color one which comes together with the package?

ya...original from fujifilm is brown...that one he equip on is not from fujifilm...

if you want protect your lens....hood might help....

extra thing is when you purchase lens hood, it usually come with adapter ring, and it is use to attach filter...

Added on March 9, 2012, 10:33 pmany x100 user here encounter lens hit on filter when shooting in close up/ macro???

Looks great! Love your half case! Now all you need is an A&A red strap to compliment your half case and soft release. :-)

lens hood will block the built in flash but i rarely use the flash so its ok for me as a protection.
i bought my x100 without the original brown leather case. its optional to get it.

That only happened to early adopters where filter adapter for X-100 wasn't release yet back then. With the current adapter, it will give enough travel for the lens.

With the JCC filter adapter there should not be any clearance issues with the filter.

The only problem with the filter is some strange reflections from the filter especially when shooting into bright lights. Note the presence of the green alien blobs in the photo below:

Definitely caused by the filter as it's not present if you remove the filter. Am using a HOYA UV filter in case you're wondering.

The A&A Strap I prefer is this one:

Yes.... Remove the filter when shooting into bright lights. :-)

If there's a filter available that does not cause these blobs do let me know.
