QUOTE(SAMPERTH @ Feb 5 2011, 05:22 PM)
Just because you cant access them or seen them being sold/breed in a commercial scale !! Does not mean they dont exist at that price !!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cromileptes_altivelis

Those  you selling are fingerlings bear that in mind !!
Polka Dots , Panther Grouper sell for over RM 300 per KG but I can get them in fingerlings size at RM 5 a pc !! This sp is also"vulnerable" Am I right !!

This fish (grouper sp as compared to B. macrostoma) can be milked and eggs stripped to produce thousands upon thousands of fingerlings per pair or trio of adult fish !!

You cant compare fingerlings(sold by the inch) to adult which are sold by the kg !! and different market the price do differ a lot ie Arapaima wholesale for less than RM 100 a pc here in Malaysia but can retail up to AUD 2000 a pc in Australia !!

Sorry I kill you cash cow if I did !!
Sure I can supply that , first you do up an import permit (inter-states one ) and I can supply you RM 10 / fish on this sp (If you need them to be fresh water I can arrange that for a bit more I think - just tell the hatcheries up to 2 months before ) plus freight charges !!

BTW I am Sabah Based !!

Added on February 5, 2011, 5:33 pm
BTW ask those fish keeper in Europe , USA , Taiwan Japanese how much they pay for their Arapaima @ 4 - 6 inch and compare that to our retail or wholesale price !!

Since on Arapaima how many captives are as large if not larger than those in the wild ?? If space and diet provided are right they will grow as large if not larger / heavier  than their wild cousin should apply to all sp !!

I am just telling/warning  all potential buyer or winner on the size and not asking them not to buy or rear them but you have to bring up "Kelong fish breeder selling red grouper at RM 10 ....etc" !!

Added on February 5, 2011, 9:13 pmhttp://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/rm292918/article?mid=11

Just in case anyone doubt what I say try give this Taiwanese guy a mail and confirm all !!

I know a private hatchery in Sabah who breeds them like nobodies biz - 100 is child's play to them , they do in lot of 1000s or more !!
They do most Grouper ....etc Plus a few snapper !!

http://www.alibaba.com/member/my103949442.html

Someone closer to all of you !! See how much per piece ? (min 5000)

hello.. can u please calm down?

me and ppl like ggMing were here to make Malaysians expose to fishes that we dont see around. we aim to bring fishes to hobbyist who have well waited and then brining the hobby to the next level. well i dont know about sabah and sarawak.
i understand the price stated were abit hard to swallow but as long as its reasonable and not crazily high from our cost. to be frank i got the small ones for around USD200+/-. so how much would you sell given a chance to u standing on my position?

we are not here to suck ppl's money and more importantly flaming anyone around. i'm sorry if i offended u on the previous post, i'm just sharing my thoughts. u are welcome to correct me as i've stated so. so please, if u
can help, go ahead and share with this lyn.net community.

we source fishes from other countries. yes! but we dont buy them in quantity. just 10pcs/20pcs due to the lack of purchasing power in Malaysia.. so u gotto understand us as
retailers as well.
for sure i can source this fish from countries like Singapore and Thailand. they trade at about USD20 per fish so long as i buy 2000pcs. but why cant i get them?
1st: because many just wont reply especially those posted on alibaba.com. so how?
2nd: i dont have tanks to accomodate 2000pcs for 1 single species.
3rd: risk on high numbers of DOA (things like: can this supplier be trusted? etc)
4th: u gotto have proper equipment to make sure fishes can be well quarantine.
5th: not easy to obtain permit, check around. u will know how much things they required. i personally think that government dont really care about this industry.

well bro, if u manage to contact them. get ur permit done and sell them here. Everyone's happy and so were u.

cheers bro!

okok. everyone, please chill. no more flaming flaming.. nod.gif

i'm sorry due to the fact of starting such issue.

well, if anyone isnt happy with the price on that species. rest assured bro sampeth can help us to obtain that rare bumblebee grouper (in tropical fish trade). am i correct? laugh.gif

again, for the rest of the fish. do let me know if price is at the higher side. i'm working out to obtain much better price but u guys as a consumer gotto think through some issues. for imports, high numbers (cheap price) of orders usually comes in 10 over thousands of ringgits. and as a new entrant, we dont have much tanks yet we need to minimize numbers of DOA.
lets say fishes from Africa, every export the Africans did. shipment will have to travel all the way up to Germany (stop for long hours then transit) another alternative is unless u have contacts over the airport (have ppl to change water, remove dead fish then repack for u) b4 sending down to asia. and in 1 bag or carton box (often 60cm size) , they pack 80 fish. so imagine 80 pcs/100pcs of fish getting stuck in 2ft tank! what are the chances of survival together with long hours? alternatively i source from nearer reseller in nearby countries.
and of course, this cant be compare with sabah based kelong hatchery as their pretty near with KLIA. large number in few hours is no problem. problem now is on permit, and the large numbers of fishes. hmm.. hmm.gif

hi hulahup,

channa orientalis.. hmm.. gotto hunt around. origin from Sri Lanka if not mistaken.

will update here after i check. smile.gif

btw, anyone into c.aurantimaculata? very colourful and nice fish though..

some german hobbyist manage to breed them.. numbers of fries is indeed crazy.. according to my research (many said these species required low temp to keep succesfully and stimulate breeding).

try google around. i remember i saw somewhere sometime ago..

Yeah Sri Lankan one.Auranti is indeed a beauty but then again it's subtropical and grow quite large. I don't think i can provide them a good home.
