I have never seen aba aba in real life before....

You need a separate tank for longkang fish... You have to quarantine them for 3 days in separate tank first then only feed the ones still healthy...
*
There are plenty of aba-aba here at Kepong Kin Fatt Aqua.. Just stock up! biggrin.gif

as for wild caught guppies.. it really depends on the owner of the LFS.

Good ones will quarantine, change the water gradually and remove those dead ones..

when u wanna buy these feeders.. look at the fishes overall b4 buying. check if the fish is in dark colour, clamp fins and other dead ones.

if u see non of the above. its show that the LFS cares.. meaning, good LFS! hence its safe to feed ur fish!

haizzz so sorry to say I dropped my rare fish keeping hobby... but I still keep normal fish... I opted for my other hobby.. photography..
*
as long as ur a fish lover. ur rare fish keeping wont just end here..
trust me.. i am an example for u..

started at:
7yrs old = betta splendens, goldfish, snakehead.
9-12 = discus, gourami keeping
13-15 = massive discus breeding, characin collection (tetra). flowerhorn, marine fishes (basic)
16 = stop fish keeping. start to like cars. dont like ppl call me "gold-fish man"
17-20 = continue fish keeping. yellow tail aro. marine fish (coral tank, damselfish and common clown breeding)
21-22 = back to basic fish keeping. marine fish (angelfish, surgeons and tangs). got a 2005 toyota vios, start modifying like crazy. everyday go sunway area, yamcha, lepak, genting. behave like a "sampah masyarakat"
23-till now = sold my car. not worth modifying. then arowana. RTG, HB, BBXB, BBGH now and going to the max.. planning 8footer at home, no fark.. rclxm9.gif

LOL!
Ben.. so u gonna start one? tongue.gif

Btw.. just wondering.. how do we attract more new blood into rare and exotic fish keeping within Msia?
i know it sounds silly but i'm sure it's just the matter of time for Malaysians to obtain such hobby..

price is one.. but i dont see why is it impossible for Malaysians to own such fish.. many were capable of keeping asian arowanas. Not 1, not 2 but few.. I've seen many of them! and thats a couple thousands bucks!!!
In Japan, the Japanese spent RM30,000(after convertion from yen) to buy asian aro, to buy datnoides pulcher at such rocket price! The other asian countries were as well into these fish keeping which includes Taiwan, Indonesia, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand, China etc.. why not us???

QUOTE(PIMPIN @ Nov 22 2010, 11:09 PM)
Don't hold your breath bro. Just started measuring the new ponds dimensions and should be ordering materials later this week or latest next week but its going to be the same concept - river water flowing 24/7 but this time through filtration of sponges and brushes (will probably get my friend from Koi Division to recommend a suitable setup).

Currently my concrete pond is 22x15x3 and I've emptied that pond over past couple days and just starting demolition as I've decided to make it in same place but bigger and deeper half of it above ground.

Someone on MFK suggested going for bottom drains rather than overflows but have yet to figure out how to go about it because if inlet gets blocked then pond would drain out but in terms of water quality its better as the water cycles more compared to overflow since its all natural. I guess I'll be posting updates there so as not to litter this thread with 'irrelevant' information since it doesn't involve primitive fish - yet.

Jason - will see you Monday week or sometime during and you're welcome to come enjoy the river anytime. I try to go once a week but usually twice a month is the average depending on workload.
*
that just sound awesome!
make sure u keep this thread updated bro.. jason is well experianced, he should know whats best for this! cant wait to see the complete setup!
i'm sure all the readers here are dying to see this fantastic project! biggrin.gif

QUOTE(ggMing @ Nov 23 2010, 11:10 AM)
this is very simple.... expose them to fishes.....

i started fish keeping at 7, and to date, when i walk in to a fish shop, be it high end shop or low end shop, i still see the same stuff....

neon tetra, tigerbarb, yellow lab and such.....
ya thats one huge problem. all common fishes only. doh.gif

personally i would say exposing wont just do the job..

i realised numbers of young fish keepers are coming up, many were of course well educated (curious). I believe with little things like MFK sticker together with website and then get it paste on fish tanks on LFS will make them take their first move by browsing around MFK. Not one just LFS! a few maybe biggrin.gif

haiz, except tat datnoids are expensive... btw, can they live wit gold fish?
*
datnoids are not expensive bro... normal NTT aka Northern Thai Tigers, IT (Indonesian Tigers) are pretty much affordable.. around RM35-55 for the size of 3inch+/-.
even AT (American Tigers), some called it silver tigers were just slightly more expensive than the 2 mention above.. less than RM200...
The second most expensive will be NGT (New Guinea Tiger) and the most expensive ones were the true ST (Siamese Tiger).

btw.. they go along well with goldfish... no problem.. smile.gif
