AFAIK Maxis is the only place to get it now. You can try ask if they can sell it without contract. Negotiate with the staff or something. Those people selling Maxis sets are also having official warranty ler...
As to the exclusivity period, what I know for now is that it will be like the Galaxy S and iPhone 4, where it will be a long time before anybody on the market can sell it independently.
Who knows maybe next month phone shops will have stock to it. But for now it's either AP or buy from Maxis with/without contract.
AP selling 1.8K now. Literally paid to be early adopter...

Guys, sometimes my phone restart by itself and there was once when I used the GPS. It caused me to miss a junction, so I ended up taking a longer route. What is the cause of this self-restart? And how do I prevent this problem?

Hrmm... I faced that random reboot once or twice in the first week. Never since then. Give it another week of intensive use and observe.

lol I'm on CM 6.1.1 for 2 weeks already. Found out the effects of CPU profiling is rather subjective coz I'm getting pretty much the same battery life without profiling (ie governing min/max only w/o triggers). Waiting for CM7 stable release.

CM = CyanogenMod, a series of custom ROMs made by the great CyanogenMod team.
Got time I put up complete info on these things.

Custom ROMs are usually aesthetically divided into 2 groups: 1) Based on Sense UI (Like Virtuous) 2) Based on vanilla Android (like CM) Exception is MIUI where the entire UI is revamped into an iPhone-esque UI. But in terms of launcher, you can modify it without root using ADW Launcher, Launcher Pro, Go Launcher etc. CyanogenMod in particular is bundled with and default set as ADW Launcher. So you don't get the 'vanilla' android launcher but it can be installed separately just like without root. You can safely say that CyanogenMod ROMs are the most popular around because a big number of devices are covered by it. More on the geeky stuff in XDA for Desire Z/ TMO G2 specifially: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=758

Maybe I should read more about this CM thingy. i dont think u gonna like the CM rom. yeah it's fast , and highly optimized, but u lose HTC Sense. well for some people, vanilla android is better, fast and smooth. but for some HTC Sense is like a privilledge to have. anyway once u install clockwork mod recovery, there's not to worry about flashing. just backup original rom, then flash to any custom roms u like.. at the end of the day, stick with the one u prefer the most..

Things I dun like in Cyanogenmod 6.1.1 (based on 2.2.1 AOSP):
1) No magnifying glass 2) No double tap for text selection 3) Can only silent camera shutter by putting phone in silent mode 4) No HTC Locations :-( 5) Pinch-to-Zoom in gallery doesn't seem to zoom into the spot I want precisely.
Things I like in CM 6.1.1
1) More functional unlock screen (can silent phone, go to dialer and go to messaging from unlock screen. awesome much?) 2) Stock gallery (HTC totally spoiled the gallery function) 3) Customizable power control widget 4) Stock phone (HTC totally wrecked the phone function) 5) Trackpad wake 6) Ability to overclock and underclock CPU.
So far CM 6.1.1 is the first and only custom ROM I flashed. Got chance I try Virtuous.

Sense UI is a combination of a few things. It encompasses some feature apps and adjustments to the software as a whole:
1) Mainly the Launcher 2) The famous calander and weather widget that do not work with other launchers 3) The clock app 4) The iPhone-esque magnifying glass (yes vanilla android dun have) 5) The fancy tab-switching mechanism 6) The phone and phonebook 7) Coloured icons in 'Settings'.
Basically if you buy a Sense-enhanced phone, you get all those. As mentioned, the Sense Calender widget and Weather Widget will not work if you install another launcher, but the rest is intact. If you flash a custom ROM not based on Sense, you will get none of the above.
In conclusion, Sense UI is more than just a launcher.
