With 5800XM, wifi teethering would last an hour. USB teethering would last 2hrs. Just plain browsing using WIFI or HSPDA is around 5hours or so.
Whats the difference? At least you get better speed than the snail speed on 5800XM.

5800xm battery is smaller but also draw less power ma. Your SGS is powerful therefore draw more.
Besides you are lucky A8 has better speed profile than MSM7227 on Legend. Mine would not even last 5-6hours of browsing.
