wahahhaa.. have been slacking and struggling for past few days, decided to stop and sort out my mind block.. then i realise it's because I don't stick to basics that causes my game to be inconsistent.

today went back to basics, from there, hit and adapt to the opponent. play with max focus and energy, maybe more. and then, forget about the adaptation I made today, just remember the basics. =))

as dealing with different opponents, you'll need alterations to your strokes and games, but 1 thing that never change is BASICS. and 1 thing that will remain to help you in dealing with different opponents is experience. =))
each game is to solidify your basics and increase the experience.

we must be willing to master the basics. unlearn, relearn and keep learning. =))

*yawn* first for the morning! YAY!

wah gcooi sounds like your concentration level is very high and good maintenance, keep up the good work....one day hopefully you can layan unkle and play some points....

vobs....currently I am not so sure of my racket count....some I buy and keep because I use to play with them, but now grown up, not ngam lol, others I buy and keep for collection....others I just buy to play with for stroke.

I just got a racket its NOT new, and its NOT a new model racket, this racket was released in the 80's I think, its very flexible lol, I tried it yesterday for a doubles match , I could only punch forehands, and slice/lob backhands, could not top spin, serves and volleys were 'effortless'.......I just cut the strings and will string with a poly at 42 lbs, hopefully I can get some pics up later.

whoa!~
i don't think im gonna add any weapon to my collection any time soon. considering buying strings and restring, it'll take up portion of my allowance to maintain the rackets lol.

hehe. back to basics! is what i wanna remind myself... sometimes i play so well n i brought everything to next game and kena sapu, then kena sapu again; all because of my stubbornness for not going back to basic and re-adapt to diff opponents...

Well its good to hear that you have pretty solid basics, if they get you through tough times, more power to you!
Regarding gears, buy what you can afford, without going to the extreme, if you play well enough with a certain racket stick with it, naturally you can experiment with strings and lead tape, use what works well for your OWN game, don't just copy blindly and sabotage your 'game'.

No lah I am a cheap skate! whistling.gif I buy cheap and keep, very seldom if ever I sell, you will note you have not seen me peddling any of my gears lol. If not ngam me now, MAY ngam me in 3-8 years, just keep .....who knows...lol.
Luckily no one complain of my gears.....if that day come's I think I will flood lowyat with 'WTS' lol.
I usually try and buy identical rackets if buying at store, I bring my small portable scale and a balance board.
But usually can customise 2 sticks within 1-3 grams difference....

I feel the same way now about K-factor lol. However alot of people have said they noticed when using BLX series mostly 6.1 tour, with slightly lower tension and the racket they notice they don't have any 'arm' issue's. That to me is important, I don't have arm issue's now, but who can tell the future....so I am keeping my BLX6.1 on the wall.....

Regarding Babolat I have no real experience with their rackets, so I really cannot give any accurate information , what I do know their previous generations were arm breakers, ALOT of people bought them for their so called 'power' boost, it came at a price....tennis elbow. For me that is a deal breaker.

However I have heard alot of positive reviews for their new series especially the Pure Storm GT series......I am thinking about getting 1 to try and see for myself, but I think I will look for it 2nd hand or 3rd hand lol :-p
I have heard the control is very good, I like 'control' rackets with no power as I rather use my technique and 'stomach' for power hahahaha.

Just curious I read that during the ATP Malaysian Open the main sponsors were Wilson and Tecnifibre, regarding Tecnifibre did they show case their new string Tecnifibre X- Code its available in Europe and now tennis-warehouse USA.
Anyone with access to this string, please post your review and the price, thanks in advance.
Cheers

i tried pure storm gt strung at 55lbs once with poly and another time with multi.....i felt it was like papan:) and it does not go well with my elbow issue.....maybe if strung lower than 50lbs would have been better but i wont know:) im not a babolat fan in terms of the stiffness feel, but i do like their swing weights, its light compare to their claimed overall weight.

yeah babolat got lots of control due to its stiffness (if anyone do not understand why stiff give better control - google it) and yeah, since bro prae is good in tennis, he will be able to produce power off himself:)

im always a head fan since they have racquets with stiffness lower than 60 RDC.....which is good for my arm......wilson kblade team also flexible but too much power for my free swinging pattern.....maybe will start trying technifibre to see how their racquet fare........

@prae,

the x code is not out yet . Will be out in a months time. I met the distributor of tecnifibre at the m'sia open.. he said it'll be retailing for 35 SGD.. meaning 25 SGD for string only..

Tecnifibre was the official stringer onli and not the sponsor this time around.

@k3vin82 yhaaa I read that review as well, surprsingly someone on tfn, Bernard already selling the string, was thinking may be someone here got it as well, I don't mind try a set to see, but I doubt I will like it as I read that the protective film/coat peels off after a few hours of hitting...depends on what type of player you are, and how hard you hit as well, also the strings move alot..... :-/

@vobs my new test weapon is 41 RDC LOL it is that flexible, reminds me of playing with wooden rackets.

If you want to use same string one pack SHOULD suffice, since it will be a 1 piece string job and you should not encounter any stringing anomaly, however if you want to hybrid, then you choose 2 different strings with different characteristics example, a poly string either in a main or cross, and the other another string can be synthetic gut as a cross (mostly), then the stringer measure's according and strings the racket using a 2 piece job, however sometimes, they use more string because they need to pull tension hence causing you to lose potentially another string job for a racket, sometimes not stringer's fault as sometimes say example Luxilon only give 38-39 feet of string when should be around 40-42 feet.
