Internet tethering = usb and bluetooth only
3g mobile hotspot = wifi
Actually 3g mobile hotspot is a feature available only with froyo, it is also known as wifi tethering.

Thanks sanosizo for the explanation.
hmmm today my fren told me, if use tethering or accessing broadband with device other than that of the phone, i.e sharing it or using it with a laptop might be subjected to additional charges outside of the data plan subscribed. he said last time he checked maxis got charged one. i m on celcom, i just checked and they say no charge =) yeah by the way, found that HTC charger can charge defy without any problem =) |

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Jan 7 2011, 06:30 PM) Internet tethering = usb and bluetooth only yups. but does it features in defy 2.1? 3g mobile hotspot = wifi Actually 3g mobile hotspot is a feature available only with froyo, it is also known as wifi tethering. it's possible if manufacturer decides to put that features. like what samsung did to Galaxy S android 2.1 |

Cool thing about wifi tethering is your phone acts like a wifi access point where up to 5 wifi capable devices can use the internet coming from your phone. And you can still make and receive call at the same time.
It is safe to run the phone at 1ghz because that's the original speed. But to save some battery power, I keep it running at 800 and slow it down to 300 when the screen is off. |

You can only remove it by flashing to non-singapore firmware but then you will void the warranty.

Hi guys,
I took some videos with Defy but can't access them. Can't view the videos from the "file manager on PC" but they are in the phone's gallery. Another problem I have is my address book is showing all my Gmail contacts. I tried to put some of them in a different folder but it doesn't work. Did you guys import your SIM or something? Please help and thanks! |

to filter the contact, click on the contact and choose motorola address book but first import from sim first
import from sim go to contact => menu button => settings => manage sims => import sim card |

My contacts are in Gmail but then now my phone shows ALL my Gmail contacts as well.
Ah, I have another problem. I have a Google calendar. I added two Gmail accounts to my Defy but my calendar that is in one of my accounts doesn't show up. |
