but it can be scratched by a tiny speck of sand... if you put it between the screen and another surface and then put some force on it.

Like what Sanosizo has said, the screen can be scratched and my defy is a good example.
The stabbing youtube video is impressive, I personally have tried it already. The thing is it gives you a false idea of it being invincible while a few speck of sand will scratch it deep if ample force is applied intentionally or unintentional. Maybe try stabbing it with a ceramic blade and see if it scratches since mostly people use metal or steel stuff to do the test. QUOTE(Nightstalker1993 @ Jan 7 2011, 10:23 AM) Screen protector? Why'd you need that for? I tried stabbing and scratching the screen with a key, no problemo heres a vid of what the Gorilla Glass can stand. http://www.engadget.com/2010/05/29/dell-st...-for-your-amus/ Added on January 7, 2011, 10:55 amGo get an otter box case then. Hi, I am very interested in Defy and the thing stopping me to buy immediately is the ear piece issue that I read about on Internet. Anyone here have that issue yet? Someone advice to wait for 1 month first. My current phone have similar issue so I don't want to change to a phone that may have ear piece issue.
Besides that, any of you guys benchmark your Defy with Quadrant? |

Sanosizo, that is a good example that you have found there !
Anyway, have you fix your phone? @Willbeth, you should probably ask Sanosizo, I think he benchmark it with the Quadrant already and his Defy sadly is affected by the earpiece issue, UK set though. |

i havent fix my phone yet, probably next week.
defy has the same cpu as droid x but underclocked to run at 800mhz. if i set the speed back to 1ghz, the result will be almost identical to droid x performance. |

In XDA forum people have been overclocking it like crazy.
But so far I am pretty comfortable with the speed so maybe after a while I will try overclocking my Defy. |

Yeah, I use Z4root 1.3 to root. Very easy and Z4root gives you the option to temporary or permanently root your phone. Even if you choose permanent root they still provide you the option to unroot.

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Jan 7 2011, 11:47 AM) i havent fix my phone yet, probably next week. I would like to know the benchmark for Defy out of the box? From XDA, it seems like there's some discussion going on what CPU it is using. Maybe the newer gen will be getting as stated CPU, where the current users there, they suspect theirs of higher end. A user from CN is getting much lower results than some base Defy user.defy has the same cpu as droid x but underclocked to run at 800mhz. if i set the speed back to 1ghz, the result will be almost identical to droid x performance. So wondering that is the benchmark for the default Defy out of the box for Maxis. |
