For those who want to try Android on their HTC phones , these are the links:

Flashing HD2 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477

Android on HD2 : How To and Guides : a MUST read before you try - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=734335

Android roms on HD2 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=735

This is a quick guide :

First to flash any rom, you must unlock your phone. The process is called HSPL. You can refer here how to do it:
( A) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477

HSPL is the only process where you are likely to brick your phone. These are the few things you must take note: Battery at least 70% charge, SD card and Sim card must be taken out - usually bricking is due to this mistake of not heeding these 3 factors

Once your unit is HSPL, you can proceed to do the Android port

1. You have a choice to keep your Windows rom or change to another . If you want to change the Windows rom - instruction is at above XDA link ( A )

2. The port to Android instructions : ( B) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=732380

I always advise all to spend time reading these links - don't jump into it. Have a understanding first.

TIPS :
- Make sure Radio is 2.08 and above ; how to flash radio - link ( A) : Flash radio will not delete your phone data
- SD CARD : Freshly format it using this tool at http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter/sdfv2000.zip

I have blog my experience here :

bro, if ROM is 2.05, how to update to 2.08 and above? and which Rom version is the best?
*
Are you referring to radio ??

1. You need to HSPL phone first before you can flash new radio. Flashing steps http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=609477

2. Link to radios download : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611787

Any radio above 2.08.50... is OK. If you want the latest , use radio 2.12.50.02_2 , which I am using now. Before that I use 2.10.50.. when I started to flash Android

WinMobile:
ROM: 1.66.707.1 (76641) WWE - Stock
Radio: 2.12.50.02_2

Android:
Android_2.2_FRG33_mccm_v1 - For Now

I suggest TS to link up Shahzz's APN settings. The few android roms I tried doesn't detect APN automatically. Or maybe I'm noob.
*
Unlike Windows Mobile, Most Android roms ( including default Google version ) do not auto detect APNs, one has to set in manually. I noted you are using latest Android built FRG33 - this built I updated it on my Nexus ; seems more responsive than builf FRF91

so the rom version wont affect anything rite? new user here, gonna flash my hd2 to android version. if encounter any problem will ask u bro .
btw, which rilphone.dll suitable for 2.12.50.02_2 ??
*
Just download the radio you need.

No need to bother with the dll file ( these are for the professionals who'd like to tinker with the radio files ) - I never and always stay away from these. Why fix it if aint broken ??

Are you asking rom version of windows ? Your questions always short and brief and I have to guess each time. Some Windows rom will affect. If you want to be safe and sure, read the forum XDA and you'd have a better idea. If you do not wish to do this, easiest is to follow the roms people have tested.

When I started , I tested on several combos of windows and android - that was in May/JUne when it was still very much in developmental stage. There were many bugs, so many one will get frustrated easily, especially on scrolling, freezing .

However since mid August, I'd said all the rom cooks had overcome practically most of the issues and guys trying now has an easy task.

Just to quote you an example, just after I post my first blog about successfully installed Android, I tested my Miri earlier rom with the earlier version of Matt Leo 1.5 - I faced repeated issues the phone will not reboot from Windows. After I upgraded the Miri rom. the problem was solved. So, one need to test and experiment. No one can give you a blanket answer whether your Windows rom will affect as it again works in combo with the Android you choose

And I always advised if you want to change your windows rom, always do a Task 29 first. It only takes 5 minutes but it will help you eliminate issues probably caused by the Windows rom

I cannot help you as your description of your problem is too vague. Please list down all the steps you have done. Especially I don't understand "including copy to mmc, in android folder" - ??

What window srom ? What Android rom you are trying to install

Did you format card using the SD tool I recommended ?

this is my procedure,
1. copy the froyo build( the whole android folder) into my micro sd , (ex.  E:/android)
2. boot windows(restart) then go to a file explorer and tap CLRCAD.EXE then tap HaRet.exe
3.then my hd2 stucked at booting

im installing New Froyo build by dan1j3l V1 , which sd tool?  is it SDFormatter tool? if i format my sd card then my chuckyrom still available?
*
Yes the SD format tool as mentioned in my post #1 ( link is there ). Format will delete all data

You can always flash your Chuckyrom again - windows rom is installed on phone memory not card. Did you previously flash your chucky rom from card ? Backup your card contents first. After card format, you can always copy back your backup to it.

If you want to keep your windows rom and data, just backup with SpriteBackup or SdBackup and restore it after you have successfully install Android.

Unsuccessful boot is usually due to SD card issues or your Chucky rom is not compatible with it. Did you search in the forum to see whether others face similar problem using the same Chucky rom as yours ? Since you wish to use Chucky rom, why don't you try Chucky Android rom ?

By the way the Android rom you want to try is a very old rom, with no new developments. Go for the newer ones

I tried his bangsters_V1.2a CM6 FRG33 and I can't believe the flawless scrolling I'm getting. This build hands down, is better than the other 5 roms I tried. I'll see how the battery goes but I'm loving whatever I'm touching now. smile.gif

I got 2GB of ROM memory and I gave an laugh.gif .

I wonder does it really improves performance like a real 2GB internal ROM does?
*
I am into Bangster 1.2 two days already> Bangster allows you to customize the memory in 512 MB, 1024 MB up to 2 GB and font sizes of either 180 or 240 dpi ( just amend the parameters in startup.txt)

I'd say is so faer the best non Sense UI rom I have tested ; the only issue I noted the battery usage seems higher by about 10 % compared tpo other roms I have tested

The developer will be releasing a newer update today

I'm still looking for battery saver and smooth one, mattc froyo battery usage is ok but keep giving me hard freeze sometime even though I ady used rmnt version. Shuvcraft seems the most stable one no crash so far but battery drains drastically,  I still prefer mccm1, battery usage overall ok, no freeze.

great to see you trying out the various roms after the initial hiccup. Please continue to share your experience

Based on my experrience trying out the available roms, screen freezes is common in SENSE UI roms . So far I do not not find this serious issue as once in a while only, just press key it will unfreeze within a second or two

I noted the NON-SENSE UI roms do not have such issue so far

Possibly because the Sense UI are actually added and customized on standard Google UI and the rom cooks had yet to overcome this issue on their version for HD2. If you find this issue is a big problem ( one member told me his often freeze ) I'd suggest to use non Sense. I'd recommend Bangster and Shubcraft roms

Any solution for GPS using android so i need not turn back to Window Mobile for the Garmin. The Navigator not work if not online.

Google Maps BRUT version 16 is good ; quite similar to Mapking . Is free - google search it , quite many links to download. The BRUT version allows voice assisted navigation in Msia and Spore

Or use Pagago X5

I have tried both and I find Google maps is better as maps are updated while Papago X5 relies on its own map database

Added on September 14, 2010, 9:32 pmTwo interesting rom updates today :

Bangster v1.3 ( non Sense) and Mdeejay v2.0 Sense

I have been testing Mdeejay v1.5 for about a day already and I'd say is the smoothest and best sense UI I have seen. There is virtually no screen freeze at all the whole day I was testing it. Was just going to test Papago X5 on it but just noted developer just posted ver 2. Well now downloading as I write this

Which version you download ? Try the PPP version first. The RMNET version more for those without 3G

For 3G you have to set the APN manually : Settings/Wireless Network/Mobile networks /APN , press the start menu button to add APN
