Just want to know, is it nowadays can direct boot the android froyo on hd2 or must be flash to HSPL3 only can?
I facing the direct boot and just stuck on blackscreen with orange light led there.
*
AS of NOW, You need HSPL first so that you can install android. The phone will satrt in windows. From Windows, you select the android shortcut to boot into Android. Please see my post #1 where I outline the steps how to do it

looking forward to booting from NAND. I don't use WinMob 6.5 at all anyways. Spend a few hours on 6.5 and I said 'forget it'.
*
I already forgot about WM 6.5. Android is I'd say is milliion miles advanced, flexible, easy to use, more customizable than Windows Mobile

honestly gps software ie , garmin , mapking is the onli thing i miss on win mo
*
YOu can try Google Maps BRUT version 16 : I find it quite similar to Mapking with added directions on top - have been using it in KL and Singapore , with voice navigation

OR you can try Papago X5 - works well too but I find the GPS lockup is faster on Google Maps

Now testing out MeeJay EvoSense v1.0 rom. Very much more stable than his other Sense v2.2 and comes with lots of additional programs. However the installation time is quite long, about 15 minutes. If you want to test, have patience - the initial splash screen will take about 5 mins and subsequent booting up another 10 minutes. Just leave it to run, do not disturb it. I did it on my old card and I believe if I'd done on a fresh formatted card will be faster
when I connected to my Gmail account, all my earlier installs apps were restored back ; save me lots of time to reinstall the apps

Took down mdeejay evo1 after 3 hours. Two main issues - the GPRS signal erratic and keep dropping off. All my contacts that call me has 011 added in front of their numbers and I cannot just call back direct, need to edit the number. Guess this rom more suited to USA

hi guys. i'm currently downloading all the files needed for booting android. just a question.

Ive just downloaded FroyoV2.1.7z and i've read this entire thread. majority of you guys are using mdeejay2.2 now. im guessing mdeejay is better than froyov2.1.7z?

and whats wifi thetering?
*
You can use your phone as a wifi hotspot. Example you have a notebook or iPad and the place you are at has no wireless access. Switch on potable wifi hotspot on phone. On notebook or iPad select wireless on and the phone will be detected as a wireless hotspot. Very useful hen you need it

Added on September 25, 2010, 2:23 pmMdeejay ver 2.2 just upgraded to ver 2.3 today

i jz got my hd2. winmo is pretty smoother than wat i think, no lagging as sony x2 . which was my night mare for years.

is there any bug was not solved yet for the android ?any cacat like cant do this or that as normal android ?
*
THere are some minor issues depending on roms, common ones are screen freeze short few seconds once a while and some roms the wifi thertering doesn't works smoothly. Other than these, it is close to perfect to the Android ( I am coimparing it to My Nexus and Galaxy S )> For those who had been following me, yes I make the worst decision in buying the Galaxy S. Was amazed by its screen and is 4" bit alas what a big dissappointment . Even the HD2 on Android is a better performer than it , there is absolutely no way it can match the Nexus

u say Galaxy is inferior than HD2 android built ?

Finally getting HD2 last Saturday smile.gif , running with Dutty dela creme rom. Im still testing with multiple android built, When Darkstone built performance was good, but unable to connect WIFI and unable to use 'menu' key function,

next will testing the daniel version
*
YES. On both nexus n hd2 android, file access and program launch is almost instant while in Galaxy S it takes about 1 to 2 sec to launch program. File acess using say ASTRO file manger takes up to 3to 5 secs.
Once program launched, performance is ok. The problem is galaxy s uses a in build flash drive to store programs, it is slower to read it. It reminds me of the doped u1000 which uses a unbuilt flash drive. However I mange to improve it by installing a lag fix which changes the galaxy s file structure creating a ext2 partition to store the programs. Is only a temporary solution, and hopefully it's froyo version will improve it. I have tried some leaked unofficial froyo versions, improvement is marginal.

If you compare it side by side with a nexus, desire or even hd2 android first thing you notice the scrolling smoothness of the galaxy s is the worst. I give it a score of 8 against the nexus, desire n hd2.

The problem of laggyness partly due to poor software of touchwiz ui is widely known and accepted by all galaxy s users but not publicized. The recommended solution is apply the lag fix, a procedure could brick your phone it not removed properly before install newer roms.galaxy s I summarized great hardware specs but poorly support with weak software implementation

Added on September 27, 2010, 12:27 pmMIUI rom on the HTC HD2 : another unique rom. In the words of Dai232 of forum XDA describe it : ” Its the MOST INSANE ROM I’VE EVER SEEN…It runs SOOO damn fast and smooth, and they have COMPLETELY overhauled the UI. Its INSANE. Its like they took parts of Android, IOS, added an insane Sense-like wrapper on it..and viola….PWNAGE. Anyone know where it comes from? I have never heard of these guys…but MY GOD its nuts. Whoever they are, these guys have SKILLZ.“

I have tested the HTC Desire HD rom on the HTC HD2. Just couldn't resist it since quite few of you guys are on it too. For newbies who wish to try, I have done up a writeup at my blog with steps, tips, and screenshots etc

Just testing about 4 hours on the China's developed MIUI rom - must say is simply amazing, very fast bootup and very smooth scrolling and good performance. So far all my apps work without any problem. There is no screen freeze at all but the 3G signals do drop once a while. You might not like it as the interface is a rojax mix of AppleIOS , Samsung TouchWiz and Google Nexus

Depend on rom, check Settings/Applications/Development - some roms give you choice - charge, connect PC, debugging

I do not normally recommend any specific android rom for hd2 other than quoting a few favorites of mine. My favorites does not necessary mean others will like it. However I would like to digress and highly recommend MIUI , it is amazingly fast, stable, absolutely no freezes at all and easily record quadrant scores of 1550 to 1650 without any tweaks. I see the only factor which will turn off potential users is the user interface which is more iPhone like. I like especially the creation of folders and you can load several apps into such folder. The folder will appear as an icon, tap on it and you see all the apps you have allocated to it

Bootup time is even faster than my nexus and galaxy s

Most probably you downloaded the wrong maps. Check again. Papago X5 works perfectly on my HD2 Android, Nexus and Galaxy S ( using the same copy of software and maps )

*
Did you replace the XML file in data/data/com.android.phone , you need use exile explorer and have root activated in settings to access these hidden files. This rom is not bad very stable and I don't find any serious issues. Tested only a day now back to miui rom

anybody on sense ROM with stock interface? like the mattc froyo sense (without transparent bars). but i think i checked out all roms, all of them are about the same.

on mattc now, dont know why it randomly reboots, i had autoboot on tho so sometimes i might be unaware. so im not sure how frequent it happens LOL

wm rom. vbndroid rc3, autoboot on
*
I am on stock rom for last 2 weeks. Since I dont use the windows mobile anmoreni decided to use stock rom as I believe some of the cooked roms has effect on the android. So far in all my tests of various roms including Matt I did not have such reboot issues. I guess could be due to sd card

But then i heard my friend saying HD2 kalau using android the touch screen will lag ? anyone can confirm this ?
*
This is old news - was true before mid August. After mid August no more such issues. Infact I tell everyone my HD2 on Android is even better than my Samsung Galaxy S when comes to programs loading, execution and scrolling. The Samsung Galaxy S was a BIG disappointment even after I install lagfix. Acessing the files takes 3-4 seconds longer than the HD2 which was almost instant

Out of topic, even my Dell Streak on ver 1.6 performs better - loading programs, accessing files than the Samsung Galaxy S. When I post this in the Galaxy S forum , as expected some users were sceptical and " unhappy" about my comments. As a smartphone user for the past 15 years and having tried several platforms and models ( is a expensive hobby of mine ) I stick to my words. I do not favor any smartphone and I only tell the truth of what I experienced. I have even openly recommend one to get the htc Desire instead of Galaxy S if one is considering between these 2 smartphones. I make this recommendation based on my experience with Nexus, which is very similar to Desire specs and everyone knows Desire is actually HTC version of Google Nexus. Having too many phones now, and have sold off the Nexus 2 weeks ago. Will be selling off the Galaxy soon !!

The Android works separately from Windows. You still need Windows rom to boot it. The Windows rom will not be affected by the Android rom

I don't understand your question. When you change android rom, just replace the Android folder in SD card with the new Android folder extracted out from the new rom file

just switched to Mdeejay 2.4.. FANTASTIC FONT ! I love em !~~

hope it has no issues like in 2.3~ hehehe..

overall fonts are smaller, just sweet

Added on October 3, 2010, 2:11 amhaih as always, mdeejay's scrolling and all are not good.. it seems unresponsive. =(

am i the only one having this problem? or should i upgrade my sd card class?
*

MDeejay roms ( sense Evo, Froyo Sense ) I have tried a few versions of his, never has issues on scrolling. Infact so far all the roms I have tried ( other cooks ) scrolling is now NEVER a issue. Scrolling should be very smooth. If you have such issues, perhaps you should reformat SD card using the tool I recommend and tried again.

Im running on Shubcraft 1.5

sorry for my english
*
This is probably sd card issue. Reformat card refer to post 1 for software link. Just need do this once. Reinstall android. Backup card first , you can
Copy back contents after installed android.
if problem still persist mean your window rom incompatible
Next time when you change rom just replace the android folder on card
With new android folder extracted from new rom file

Android port to HTC HD : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=577

HTC HD cook roms : http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=453

Lost touch with HTC HD more than a year already ; so you can forward your queries over to the links I have given you

As far as I read, the Android rom port to HD is not so successful as the HD2 mainly because of its poorer chip processing power. Read up at the links I have given you to find out more
