QUOTE(MYstombox @ Sep 14 2010, 10:19 PM) I don't have a data plan, i am using adhoc. But then again, most of the time I'm in a wifi enabled area. So I don't really find that not having a data plan is crippling. Same here. My wi-fi is never off.

QUOTE(Cyclone1 @ Sep 14 2010, 10:54 PM) Are all the SGS disabled the 3 button recovery? I hav purchase a SME set from our fellow lyn and im afraid the 3 button recovery is disabled =( Not necessarily all. Assuming what Samsung Canada published is true, the fix should be here by end of this week. Froyo rumoured to be released on 24th September in Finland: http://androidspin.com/2010/09/13/rumor-sa...23rd-september/

QUOTE(holypredator @ Sep 15 2010, 09:43 AM) Cause Android 2.2 already release for asia... of course u need to flash odin Lol.. I only want to flash from Kies. At least if it bricks, I have a reason to tell for warranty purpose. Added on September 15, 2010, 10:38 amQUOTE(- JaY - @ Sep 15 2010, 03:24 AM) guys, i tried the 3 button to enter recovery, but its random, sometimes it enters to recovery straight away, sometimes the startup screen just keeps on and off, any idea? That's good news. Likely that recovery is working on your phone, only human errors involved during the procedure. For phones with recovery disabled, it won't work all the time. Eek. I tried to set up GPRS and MMS APN manually. I took my best effort to type in everything slowly and beautifully but as I select Save, it's not even there on APN list. It can't save I do it manually because it also can't save the received configuration from DiGi. It's always disappearing.

QUOTE(quackpack @ Sep 15 2010, 11:05 AM) mengsuan try just switching your google maps on see whether it could connect to data Cannot but I found out the reason. I emulated T-mobile US SIM number using Market Access. I just have to restore DiGi SIM identification and APN can store again.

QUOTE(kfc @ Sep 15 2010, 11:17 AM) thanks jujx for the voodoo lag fix tips. when I was trying to enter the recovery mode. holding power, volume up and home button. the screen just keep resetting itself. if i release the buttons it just boot in to the normal screen. what's wrong with this? i can't even get in to the screen which i can choose the update.zip. Have you ever manage to use 3 buttons to enter recovery mode? If no, you're likely to be the affected batch with no 3 button recovery mode. Then recovery mode is only accessible by ADB, which you would not be able to use in case of mishaps.

QUOTE(Jason @ Sep 15 2010, 11:59 AM) entering recovery mode should be put in the first page FAQ.. a lot of people do it wrongly.. press and hold volume up, home + power.. the moment you see samsung logo, release only the power button for one second (while still holding volume up + home button) and hold all 3 buttons again.. If it works, it does work very easily. I don't see why it can go wrong, especially after many attempts. I feel that the FAQ should provide quick tutorial to use ADB for affected units and also brick warning to these users.

So far I have no hardware hiccups with the phone. Based on my previous experience with HTC devices, this SGS is made better.

SamsungFirmware tweeted that it is beta. Someone else who appears to be reputable for leaked firmwares mentioned that this is the final release.

I've been using Samsung feeds since the day I got the phone. Actually I don't see the lag as described in XDA forum. If you come from Windows Mobile PDA group of users, you'll definitely feel that SGS is fast.

QUOTE(darude87 @ Sep 16 2010, 03:45 PM) hi guys, i'm interested to get the sgs already, but then saw what u guys said bout the 3 buttons recovery being disabled, i felt a bit turn down because i'm planning to root and flash rom once after i got my phone so is there any particular batch to avoid or is there any way to identify whether the phone has that disabled or not? Don't worry, just get it. It appears that Samsung can fix it. There is no way to avoid. From the experience which owners bought 2 SGS at same time, where their IMEI only differ by 1 digit, one works while the other doesn't. Hence no batch to recognize. From a small group of statistic shows that 33% of the devices are affected.

Work means can use 3 button recovery.
3 button recovery = Vol UP+Home+Power = allow recovery when the phone brick = allow updating from update.zip = allow clearing cache
You won't need it unless you brick your phone. In normal operating condition, this screen can be invoked by ADB with "reboot recovery" command.

QUOTE(fongwei @ Sep 16 2010, 04:28 PM) how to use it.......... i tried press 3 buttons but nothing happend........... Turn off your phone. Take out battery. Put it back in. Right away, press the 3 button until black and white boot screen. Then you can actually let go and see recovery menu. If you can't, it's normal also. Afterall 33% of these devices cannot do so.
